• Welcome to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

anti science propaganda such as critical race theory, white privilege and dreaming up new genders.
All strawmen. Those views are not compatible with each other. And promoted by different groups. Mostly conservative.
I don’t watch Fox
The shit coming out of your mouth proves otherwise.

You really need to avoid Fox and other propaganda outlets

I don’t watch Fox (except for Fox LA in the morning for local news, weather and traffic) so this lazy and tiresome statement says more about you.
Our apologies. Your posts kind of gave the impression you have no idea what you are ever talking about and Fox News would be a typical and common cause of that. Honestly, it isn't important why your posts are ignorant of the subjects you repeatedly interject on, only that your posts are.

So Trump has a 10% tariff on Canada oil and gas and 25% on everything else. Gee, I wonder why that is? It'd be more obvious when the gasoline prices go up because Trump's economic policies are stupid and idiotic if they did 25% across the board. What is even more insane is that when you tax energy out of the trade equation, the US has a fucking trade surplus with Canada!

And why tax gas and oil from Canada in the first place? What American jobs are being stolen? Should Canadian oil/gas be drilled for in the US?

Canada volley's back.

Canada is a much smaller nation, but they still import a great deal from the US.

According to a news release from the Department of Finance, the first $30-billion phase of the Canadian counter-tariff response will hit American products like orange juice, peanut butter, wine, spirits, beer, coffee, appliance, apparel, footwear, motorcycles, cosmetics and pulp and paper.

The second, $125-billion phase will include products like passenger vehicles and trucks, steel and aluminum products, certain fruits and vegetables, aerospace products, beef, pork, dairy, recreational vehicles and recreational boats, the news release said.

Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said in an interview on Rosemary Barton Live that the first phase is largely "consumer goods that we would import from the United States for which there is a replacement" from other countries.
Trump says there will be pain. For what? What possible change in US-Canada trade policy will make this ridiculous trade war worth it? They have higher standards for worker support, UHC, environmental protection. How is their trade with us unfair? You can't resolve a problem that doesn't exist!

“I’m speaking with Prime Minister Trudeau tomorrow morning, and I’m also speaking with Mexico tomorrow morning. And I don’t expect anything very dramatic. We put tariffs on. They owe us a lot of money, and I’m sure they’re going to pay,” Trump told reporters as he stepped off Air Force One on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Mexico is dusting the books off of the theft of what was 1/3 to 1/2 their nation for pennies on the dollar around 1850.

Trump also is a fucking idiot... if that hasn't been raised. Shitting on about how Europe does buy our agricultural goods. It is one of our larger exports! What a shit show!

Lawyers for DoJ employees threaten lawsuit over illegal firings

In a letter to Emil Bove, the acting deputy attorney general, the lawyers promised to sue over the removals, which have affected prosecutors who have worked on cases involving President Trump and his supporters and threaten to extend to thousands of F.B.I. agents.

“If you proceed with terminations and/or public exposure of terminated employees’ identities, we stand ready to vindicate their rights through all available legal means,” the letter said.

...

The letter said that the State Democracy Defenders Fund and Mr. Zaid “represent individuals affected by this course of conduct,” although it did not identify them by name.

The department violated the officials’ due process rights and civil service laws, the letter added, noting that publicizing the names of the agents who had worked on the Jan. 6 case would violate the Privacy Act and “directly put the safety of all impacted individuals at risk as well as their family members.”

The letter copied the acting attorney general, James R. McHenry III; the acting F.B.I. director, Brian Driscoll; and the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Edward Martin.

The trend is Trump will violate any law he wants until he is forced not to.

I don't get it. Trump says Canada has been very unfair to us. In what ways has Canada been unfair to the US?

Canada hasn't been unfair to the US. He's just spewing lies for his deluded cult members as usual.

Best assume anything he says is a lie until it's proven true. You'll be right much more often than not.

A good opinion piece on the NYT about the lying fascist felon

Thank you. Interesting analysis.

I read your link. These three paragraphs stood out for me.:

There is a reason Trump is doing all of this through executive orders rather than submitting these same directives as legislation to pass through Congress. A more powerful executive could persuade Congress to eliminate the spending he opposes or reform the civil service to give himself the powers of hiring and firing that he seeks. To write these changes into legislation would make them more durable and allow him to argue their merits in a more strategic way. Even if Trump’s aim is to bring the civil service to heel — to rid it of his opponents and turn it to his own ends — he would be better off arguing that he is simply trying to bring the high-performance management culture of Silicon Valley to the federal government. You never want a power grab to look like a power grab.

But Republicans have a three-seat edge in the House and a 53-seat majority in the Senate. Trump has done nothing to reach out to Democrats. If Trump tried to pass this agenda as legislation, it would most likely fail in the House, and it would certainly die before the filibuster in the Senate. And that would make Trump look weak. Trump does not want to look weak. He remembers John McCain humiliating him in his first term by casting the deciding vote against Obamacare repeal.

That is the tension at the heart of Trump’s whole strategy: Trump is acting like a king because he is too weak to govern like a president. He is trying to substitute perception for reality. He is hoping that perception then becomes reality. That can only happen if we believe him.

Man who owed so much money and had to go to court to protect him from his own debt indicates Canada and Mexico owe the US money and must pay!

Of course, with the retaliatory tariffs, the paying is back to a balance.

Got my taxes in over the weekend with a vague hope of getting my refund before Musk decides to royally fuck up the IRS.
