Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

When Donald Trump added his name to the many public figures and celebrities paying heartfelt tributes to Dolly Parton, everyone feared the worst.

Thankfully, Trump ordered flags to be lowered at half-mast to honour the beloved artist, and wrote on Truth Social: "This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The world loves you."

This tribute was initially met with applause, with even Trump's harshest critics commending him for the gesture.

However, it didn't take long for certain fans to point out that Dolly Parton's Imagination Library – a literacy initiative which has gifted more than 330 million books to children since 1995, and one of Parton's many philanthropic causes - has been defunded by the Trump administration.

This led many fans to call out Trump for being a hypocrite, and matters weren't helped when he phoned The Glenn Beck Progam this week and claimed that Parton "really liked" him.

People further slammed Trump and pointed out that Parton stood for everything Trump doesn't: tolerance, respect and bringing people together.

Now, in one of his latest AI slop posts, Trump took to Truth Social to share an illustration of him arm in arm with Parton walking around the White House.

This was another step too far for those who admire Parton, with many taking to social media to condemn Trump and his AI-generated post.

"Trump felt Dolly Parton was getting too much attention," wrote one account, while another commented: "This picture is vile. Dolly Parton never appeared in pictures with him, nor do I think she would ever agree to. To place her in a picture on his arm is like taking the most beautiful soul imaginable, and throwing a disgusting bucket full of foul trump on her."

Much of the infrastructure is already there. American oil producers were operating there until Trump kicked them out in 2019.
According to some wonks, it would be cheaper to develop if all that crap wasn’t there. Most of it has been sitting out in the Venezuelan environment for a long time and most of it is not worth restoring and maintaining.
Not that that’s a big obstacle in the scheme of things of course. But it will take years and years for it to have any impact on oil markets, if ever.

23% of mushrooms come from Canada.
They were paying a small tariff before.
I was told years ago that you should buy Canadian mushrooms because US mushrooms growers' use nasty chemicals.
Does tRump even eat mushrooms?
"Chemicals."

What is this obsession with non-Americans accusing the U.S. of growing inferior crops when it's provably untrue? A simple Google search can tell you what crop control chemicals they use; same with American.

Another thing is that European and Canadian nutrition labels don't have to be as extensive as American ones, so it gives the false appearance that European food has less "chemicals" than American.

You are right. I did not search before I posted.
However, Canada does seem to have strict controls on pestisides.
It just that most of the mushrooms I have gotten in the last few decades were from Canada.
And there may be a connection with the food recalls and tRump's cuts to the FDA.
Buy Canadian as a protest.

Maybe the people scrubbing the coal clean can wash the Venezuelan oil too.

Just the image of Trump getting a lap dance (throwing up in my mouth a little)...
"Is that a jelly bean in your pocket, or are you getting excited, Daddy?"

On April 2, United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth asked General Randy George to stand down from his role as Army Chief of Staff, with no public explanation given for the decision.

It has now emerged that the Army's top-ranking general was reportedly forced into early retirement after Hegseth wanted George to shelve an investigation into a military helicopter flyby that took place on March 28 near Kid Rock's Nashville mansion, which the singer calls the Southern White House.

Two Apache helicopters from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell flew past Rock's sprawling property. The musician posted a video of the flyby with the caption: "God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her."

The two pilots were suspended while an investigation was launched into whether they had breached safety rules, only for the pair to be quickly reinstated by Hegseth.

The most feckless Supreme Court in our nation's history, as they allow extremely extraconstitutional Ballroom construction to continue.

article said:
The temporary order came hours before lower-court rulings would have forced a halt to aboveground construction of the project because Trump didn't get congressional approval.

It will remain in place until the Supreme Court issues a more durable decision, though the one-page document does not detail Roberts' reasoning or indicate when another ruling will be handed down. Roberts signed the order because he oversees emergency appeals of cases filed in the capital.
Feckless, utterly feckless.

The article made it sound like it was Roberts's decision, but he actually dissented.

Thanks, hadn't seen that.

Roberts isn't a broken clock, but he has the darnedest standards for separation of powers.

Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed.
The workers don't want it either! Soon we'll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year.
It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
President DJT
Shut up, piggie.

There are 13 Public Holidays in my location in 2026, and all employees, both in government and in private industry, are entitled to take ALL of those days off work.

(1) An employee is entitled to be absent from the employee’s employment on a day, or part of a day, that is a public holiday in the place where the employee is based for work purposes.

(2) However, the employee’s employer may ask the employee to work on a public holiday if the request is reasonable.

(3) If the employer asks the employee to work on a public holiday, the employee may refuse the request if—

(a) the request is unreasonable; or

(b) the refusal is reasonable.
And must be paid for those days (if they would normally have been at work):
(1) Subsection (2) applies if—

(a) under this part, an employee is absent from employment on a day, or part of a day, that is a public holiday; and

(b) the employee would ordinarily have been required to work on the day or the part of the day.

(2) The employer must pay the employee at the employee’s base rate of pay for the employee’s ordinary hours of work on the day or the part of the day.

(3) An employee, while employed by the same employer, is only entitled to be paid under subsection (2) for a show holiday once in each calendar year.

(4) If an employee does work on a public holiday, the employer must pay the employee—
(a) if an applicable industrial instrument applies to the employee—the penalty rates provided for under the instrument; or

(b) otherwise—at the rate of pay that would be paid to the employee if the public holiday was not a public holiday.
Very few waged employees are not covered by an "applicable industrial instrument", and the norm is for such employees to be paid double time, or double and a half, for such work.

So I can take the day off with full pay, or can choose instead to work (if requested to do so) and be paid 250% of my normal rate.

If as Justice Roberts says the destruction of the East Wing was unlawful, could the companies that participated in the demolition be held liable for their actions, participating in criminal activity? I know no one will/can go after Trump but perhaps if (legitimate) companies are too fearful to partake in these projects they could potentially be slowed?

Did you'll see the Repugs finding excuses for not going to tRump's convention in Texass?
HA,HA,HA. What a bunch of twats!

Trump tells The Fed to lower rates or he'll stop trading with nations the US has a trade deficit with.

article said:
Trump posted on Truth Social, in what appeared to be a directive to the Federal Reserve, to "LOWER THE RATE OR I'LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT."

Trump, who has long voiced a desire for lower interest rates, asserted that an embargo could be "BETTER THAN TARIFFS" and said "the Fed Board, with its great new leader, must get smart."
I'm assuming the Fed thinks this is an empty threat as it is preposterous. But Jebus! He'd have to embargo our largest trading partners, China, Canada, EU. Global Recession, domestic Depression anyone? It'd be like telling Iran to make a peace deal with the US or else Trump will raze Florida.

Trump can stop trading with anyone he likes. But he simply doesn't have the power, let alone the authority, to stop the US from trading with everyone with whom we have a deficit. That would require police at every airport, sea port and land access to check all shipments, and require the US postal service to interdict mail from those countries.
