Do they want to reverse the results of the election?

And what if Hillary had won and Trump supporters took to the streets like this, including in front of her residence? There would be a lot of talk about "depolorables", "racists" and "sexists" who can't stomach the first female president, blah blah.

Well, technically the REAL election hasn't happened yet. They might be trying to influence the actual Electoral College.

Wow. I just saw on CBS that a Clinton group is petitioning the electoral collage to ignore the popular vote of each state and elect her as president. Is this real or a CBS fuck-up? Could the anti-Trump protests be coordinated with this effort?

I can't even imagine the crisis such a move by the electoral collage would create... think revolution.

I think it would be a great demonstration of what a shit stain the electoral college is.

They want to speak their minds.

They represent millions of Americans who are disgusted and ashamed over the things Trump proposed during his incredibly ugly campaign.

They are saying he will not implement his racist bigoted agenda unopposed.

It is a bit petty. Trump won. The majority... umm... the majority as designated by the Electoral College won. We need to accept and move on. Trump certainly has enough issues with trying to blind up his holdings, questions about the debt he has with foreign entities, and the whole trial for fraud (which unlike the alleged rape case, may be a slam dunk for the prosecutor).

They seem to me to be of a similar mentality to the old birthers only much louder and more disruptive to normal life since they are blocking roads, breaking windows, starting fires, etc. Most of the birthers sat in their parents basement and posted echos of conspiracy theories to each other in chat rooms.

As someone pointed out, the younger ones they can't even remember the last time we elected Hitler. It's been 12 years. We dodged Romney-Hitler and McCain-Hitler.

It's a tantrum. They'll grow out of it.

Trump and the republicans have no legal opposition. They control all branches of government. The protestors would have been wiser to have voted. Now they are just pissing in the wind.

Violent and disruptive protests are more than people speaking their mind.

We are a closely divided country. Had Hillary won, there'd be millions of Americans disgusted and ashamed by her. That would not give them the right to do what these anti-Trump protesters are doing.

There is much wrong with Trump's agenda - Obamacare, spending cuts, environment, but none of these are racist or bigoted. And for that matter, neither is preventing illegal aliens from coming to the US.

People selected for EC are not really the type to be swayed by violent protests. Certainly not 30+ of them.

There is a petition to that effect, but I doubt it's coming from the Hillary camp. She really does want to be president, but chances of a successful presidency she got like that would be slim to none.

I can't even imagine the crisis such a move by the electoral collage would create... think revolution.
She certainly would not be seen as legitimate by the Congress nor many American people.

If Clinton had one then there would also have been objection. Better this than no elections at all.

These "protesters" are the usual anarchist suspects who look for any reason to remind the world that they're worthless pieces of shit. They started with Occupy Wall Street and join up with BLM. Ignore them. Just ignore them.

Unfortunately stopping illegal immigration is often synonymous with racist.

But your side has a voice. A very strong voice. And it doesn't matter if you win the popular vote or not. Your side lost bigly during the two Obama elections. And yet you still wielded enormous power in the house, senate, and supreme court. In fact, I think that a major reason for HRC's loss was your side's power in the house. The Benghazi bull shit was quite devastating against her. When your side has numbers and no power, then please feel free to whine to us. Until then, you have no concept of how people feel today.

They're angry that Trump got elected and want everyone to know it

I know that upsets you, Derec, and it upsets your orange hero also. Thankfully, he is actually there man to do something about all those people having all those rights.

I'm actually thinking of joining the protests because this might be my last chance to do such a thing and in order to communicate to Democratic politicians that I expect them to obstruct Trump these same way Republicans obstructed Obama for eight years. Republicans paid no price for that level of obstructionism, so that's just how things work now.

let's not talk like all of these protests are violent. nearly all have been peaceful and we shouldn't pick the outliers in order to make a case against them. we have the right to peacefully protest whatever we want. in this case it's mostly to send a message to the rest of the country and the new government that we won't be bullied by racist, sexist, homophobic, etc etc etc, ideas.

the fact that some turned violent truly is disgusting though and those people should be punished accordingly.

we live in an anti-intellectual country now and both sides are to blame.

I feel like banging my head against the wall! The republicans were able to obstruct Obama because they owned the house, senate and SC. We control none of those. It's incredibly unfair to expect democrats to have the same amount of obstructionism ability as the republicans.

When "illegal immigrant" is a substitute for "Mexican", and not "Melania", then yeah, it's kind of racist.
