Why does that look badly photoshopped, as if he's hovering over the sand?

Not photo-shopped, but a still from the shooting of that famous scene on the beach. If you lay down on the sand, and a wave comes and goes, it creates that raised effect under your body.

It actually doesn’t seem to appear in the movie. It could be a publicity shot. In the movie, the wave washes over them completely.
