What music are you listening to right now? (Warning: Lotsa videos)

Recently I rediscovered Concrete Blonde and the amazing voice of Johnette Napolitano. Their heyday was when I was in High school, but I was a metalhead too immature to appreciate them. But I remember being moved by their song "Joey".

They also covered "Everbody Knows" by one of the world's best lyricists, Leonard Cohen. Here is Johnette singing a raw gut-wrenching version of it.

First off, the guitar solo in this song is fire. Second, the video is a bit cheesy. It was the 80s, after all.

Yet I actually met someone who was featured in the video. I was in the "jock lounge" at the radio station one day. It was this little room off from the studios where you could to some show prep or eat lunch. Anyway, this guy ducks into the room and says "hey man, you mind if I hang out here for a bit?" I said sure, no problem.

You can hang out here for a bit...Donny Osmond. He'd shown up for an interview, and some of the female members of the staff who'd grown up idolizing him were following Donny around the building, and he was looking for a place to hide. So I hung out with Donny Osmond for a bit. It was the most random celebrity encounter I ever had.

I am putting in a spoiler box what this makes me think of so as not to influence anyone else if they listen to it

If Fiona Apple was active in 1970 with Blood Sweat and Tears as her backing band
