Hillary's emails are back in the news. In a sample of 40 the Inspector General found 2 that contained "top secret" info. Sending top secret info over a private network is a felony. One of the servers she turned into the Justice Department was wiped clean. Obstruction of justice?

The cover story seem to be that the top secret info was forwarded to her and it was not clear at the time that it was top secret.

I've got a buddy who is betting me steak dinner that she will drop out of the race in 5 months. Should I take the bet?

I don't think she'll be bowing out of the race. That being said, I do think it lowers her credibility and calls her judgement and honesty into question with many. People seem to think Bernie doesn't have a chance. I think it would be funny for her to lose twice to another Dem challenger from nowhere.

She might spontaneously combust if she loses the nomination to Bernie.

By attacking her now, people will be tired of it during the general election.

I think it will be investigated, and will amount to very little if anything. Perhaps some mistakes made in the use of the private email, but unlikely leading to any charges. It will "blow over" in the way that Travelgate and Filegate blew over because there was nothing there, but conservatives will still cite them as evidence of criminal history.

I would take the bet.

Unless by "bow out of the race" he means "stay in the race and win the White House", it's as safe a bet as you'll ever make. You get a free steak dinner here. Also, remember that dinner includes alcohol. Don't let the guy be cheap and only pay for the food and stick you with the bill for your drinks when he's supposed to be treating you to the whole thing. Insist on that upfront.

Perhaps you should go to a more balanced website to get impartial feedback.

Like maybe Hillary-apologists-for-Hillary.edu

Odds are she won't drop out, but there is a real likelihood she will be trounced by Sanders, or a new challenger (e.g. Biden or Warren). The Hillary tailspin is in plummeting polls, constant mishaps, and in the rise of a "anyone but Hillary" search by hard left Democrats. And unlike 'travelgate' and 'filegate' she is no longer protected by her hubby's Presidential aura.

Some of the factors that make this debacle likely to undue Hillary:

1) The IG, and sudden FBI interest in Hillary and her confidant, Huma, suggests that the new AG is not a complete shill to Obama. If she is willing to act independently and seriously investigate, Hillary can be mined for wrong-doing almost indefinitely.

2) The IG and much of the left press are unwilling to protect her. Part of the 'vast right-wing conspiracy' attacking Hillary include Chuck Todd, Mika Brzezinski, and Huffington Post’s Sam Stein.

3) Polls now show a majority want a criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton.

Hillary is toast - Bernie (or someone else) will win the nomination.

Edit Add: http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/251008-dems-near-clinton-panic-mode

Democrats are worried that the furor surrounding Hillary Clinton’s private email server will be prolonged and intensified after her sudden move to hand it over to the FBI.

The Clinton campaign’s decision to give up the server and a thumb drive containing backup copies of emails left Democrats scratching their heads as to why the former secretary of State had resisted for months turning over the server.

Coupled with new polls that suggest Clinton is vulnerable, Democrats are nearing full-on panic mode.

“I’m not sure they completely understand the credibility they are losing, by the second,” said one Democratic strategist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “At some point this goes from being something you can rationalize away to something that becomes political cancer. And we are getting pretty close to the cancer stage, because this is starting to get ridiculous."

This makes it sound like at a minimum this thing isn't going to go away for a long time:

What, then, does all this mean for Hillary Clinton? There is no doubt that she, or someone on her State Department staff, violated federal law by putting TOP SECRET//SI information on an unclassified system. That it was Hillary’s private, offsite server makes the case even worse from a security viewpoint. Claims that they “didn’t know” such information was highly classified do not hold water and are irrelevant. It strains belief that anybody with clearances didn’t recognize that NSA information, which is loaded with classification markings, was signals intelligence, or SIGINT. It’s possible that the classified information found in Clinton’s email trove wasn’t marked as such. But if that classification notice was omitted, it wasn’t the U.S. intelligence community that took such markings away.

That means Bernie Sanders will be president.

I don't know if it is really a scandal yet, but it is a disgrace. I certainly hope Ms. Clinton is held accountable and not left off the hook for the blatant disregard for Federal law/rules.

What the press reports and what actually happened, e.g. what, if any, laws were violated are usually two different things.

She's been accused of so much horse-shit over the years that has amounted to nothing more than empty accusations that it's hard not to be inclined to just wait this one out and see what happens. Whether it will cost her the nomination is immaterial. She doesn't have a likable persona. Whatever the case may be in reality, in public she comes off like a 4th grade teacher scolding a group of dim 9 year-olds.

That would leave Bernie as the frontrunner. That puts the GOP in the White House. He may appeal to young people and leftists but he isn't going to appeal to centrists and those just left of center. The guy refers to himself as a socialist. I personally like that, but that word ("socialist") is something the U.S. simply isn't ready for. But then again, I never thought I'd see a black man be POTUS so who knows?

But someone like Biden seems more likely. But damn, Biden's pretty old too.

Fuck it. Just vote for a statue of Jesus.

Based on the article I linked above, the fact that there were Top Secret documents on her private server not marked as Top Secret documents means crimes were committed.

It is illegal to have Top Secret documents on a private server and it is illegal to remove Top Secret markings from Top Secret Documents.

Don't worry. Hillary's still going to win the election next year. There's not actually a need to be concerned.
