Yet another war, this time with Iran

SINCE THE US launched its war against Iran in late February, the country’s hackers have struck back with retaliatory intrusions that have ranged from paralyzing medical supplies company Stryker to breaching the personal email of FBI director Kash Patel. Now, after an unprecedented wave of disruptive cyberattacks hit water utilities in Minnesota, a memo circulated within the water industry ties those attacks to Iran, too, in the widest and most disruptive strike yet inflicted by the country’s hackers against the US since the war began.

That's why the Trump administration has gutted the US Cyber security efforts.

Ohoo! Big news! Late yesterday Trump says:

“We have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to,”

“Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT” and “an end to Iran’s nuclear threat.”

OOOhoo! Now Trump wouldn't just be making this up would he???

This war will “end” in basically a complete Iranian victory. I expect Trump will eventually just walk away entirely from the gulf and leave it to everyone else to clean up. Iran will allow the straits to reopen, but charge a fee for using Iranian waters. Trump really has no choice - unless he’s willing to commit a massive ground invasion. And the Iranians know that is highly unlikely - indeed the American people nor Congress will support such. Trump knows this as well as the Iranians.

That’s why they broke the ceasefire a few weeks ago. They knew exactly what he would do and that they could absorb it. They have. Trump’s attacks have actually strengthened the regime. The damage we’ve inflicted is repairable. Now Trump has called off the attacks again because he knows that he can’t sustain them. The Iranians will pause for a few weeks at most, maybe not at all. Then this cycle will repeat itself. They are actually goading this moron into a ground invasion knowing that it will be extremely costly and even probably fail.

Thus I see the only option for Trump is to basically give up and simply walk away from the mess he has created and leave it to others to clean it up. It’s his MO. He will pull troops out of the Mideast and away from the range of Iranian ballistic missile attacks. He will say he’s won a great victory. But this will result in a massive power shift in favor of the Iranians. Saudi Arabia will be threatened. I’m it sure how Israel will respond.

This is indeed strategic suicide by the United States. I truly fear the long term consequences of this war. A long time ago, I predicted that the U.S. invasion of Iraq would have severe negative consequences that would come back to haunt us for decades. It definitely appears to have done so.

I've lost count of how many times he's announced breakthroughs in the talks. My born-again Trumpie cousins probably don't mind, because their culture is built around a moment of glory that's always imminent. But for those who like reality, Trump has grabbed an angry warthog by the back legs and has no idea how to get away from it. A man who can't get a pool lining fixed is no match for Iran.

"Perimeters of a deal"? Wasn't that already signed with the "Memorandum of Understanding"? Are we a few more name iterations from an agreement?

Also, are we in front or behind "concepts of a peace plan" right now? And how long ago was 'Who are we to say Iran can't have ballistic missiles'?

This is like Canadian Bacon, but real... and worse... and with people dying.

After listening to multiple analysts, it is a stalemate. I thought that was obvious well before the war, Hormuz and
vulnerable Arab oil infrastructure.

Iran says if its main oil terminal is destroyed they will destroy Arab oil infrastructure. Hence Trump asked to back off by the Arabs.

From analysis last night their is zero chance of a negotiated settlement and concessions on Iran nukes. Before the war the regime was declining. Trump's attack reinvigorated the revolutionaries.

So here we are. A crazy ranting lunatic for president and a secretary of war ranting we are the baddest army in the world. He uses the term maximum lethality a lot.

So we and the world are economically screwed with no end in sight.

Thank you Donald Trump. I salute your brilliance.

As global oil reserves continue to drop and shipments through Hormuz are once again stalled, oil prices retreat because... umm...

...*shuffles through papers*...

...apparently the markets are reacting to Trump saying he is pausing alleged attacks...

...again.

Can you even imagine how much money people are making if they have inside information?

I'm more curious about how the markets lost their minds over the Ukraine invasion, but have shown restraint over Iran and the cyclical closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The oil companies are making huge profits. We're being gouged in two ways.

Live by the commodity, die by the commodity. Honestly, the price at the pump should be higher.

And besides winning 34 times in a row, the dumb fuck and his drunk warmonger have:

...exhausted nearly 80% of its interceptors for a key missile defense system as senior US military commanders are warning that the Pentagon’s munitions stockpile is “dangerously low,” according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

The US military has burned through nearly four-fifths of its THAAD missile inventory compared to pre-war numbers and roughly half of its Patriot interceptors since the start of the war,

Leaving the US defenseless or impotent should something else much more important around the world happen.

When will these two be impeached?

US factories should have been cranking out ordinance on the double. And we desperately need relatively cheap interceptors. You might need higher tech interceptors for missiles, but cheap and slow drones should be much cheaper to take out.

When will these two be impeached?
Impeaching is not hard. Trump himself got impeached twice. He might get impeached a third time by the new House next year.

The tough part is winning the trial in the Senate. The entire Senate is the jury, and you need 2/3 to convict.

Trump has been messing things up everywhere, but it is the GOP that are complicit in enabling all of this nonsense. From Iran to tariffs to murdering US citizens... ripping down part of the White House... arresting a person under ridiculous charges and going to the Grand Jury over something they know is a lie, oh and the grift... the out in the open public grift. So, not really expecting any oversight to magically occur from the GOP in January if the Democrats managed to pull off what would otherwise be a miracle and retake the Senate.

Impeachment makes little sense to me.
