Yet another war, this time with Iran

The "Left" online mediascape is pushing a stupid argument about this whole thing being intended as a distraction from the Epstein files.
That may or may not be the primary motive, and likely isn't the only motive, but it would be bizarre to say it's not a motive at all.
Which is stupid, wars are not started by individuals,
This one appears largely to have been. Absent Trump and Bibi as individuals, it seems unlikely that this war would have started at all. It certainly has very little justification, and no clear objectives either.

Anyway, so far, US is wining militarily, there can't be any doubt about that. Iranians demonstrated utter incompetence once again.
86 year-old Ayatollah decided to go down with a bang and took top military commanders with him and it looks like they were OK with it.
The only hope is that Iran still have enough fire power left to actually organize some response.
Ok, apparently Ayatollah and most top people gathered together in order to discuss latest US proposal.
So it was not suicidal. Still, these people have no regard for any kind of precautions. Stupid.

Attack on Iran could buoy Trump in talks with China's Xi
China, the world's largest buyer of Iranian oil, last year got 13.4% of its total oil imported by sea from the country. That makes it uniquely exposed to any supply disruption as the conflict unfolds, particularly in the event of a blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most vital oil export route.
While China can diversify ‌its imports, it would suffer significant price pressure from a near-term loss of Iranian oil, tightening margins for its manufacturing base on which the Chinese economy is heavily reliant, analysts say.
The U.S. attack on Iran also serves as a reminder to Beijing - and its partners - of the U.S. military's ability to strike not only in its backyard, but around the world.
"The strikes on Iran and the potential regime change will severely impact China's interests," said Zhao Minghao, international relations expert at Shanghai's Fudan University.
"China is assessing the deeper intentions behind U.S. actions in Venezuela and Iran, as the U.S. may increase pressure on China by controlling the international energy market," Zhao said.
Roughly 50% of China's oil imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

"A combat-unit commander told non-commissioned officers at a briefing Monday that the Iran war is part of God’s plan and that Pres. Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” according to a complaint by a non-commissioned officer.

From Saturday morning through Monday night, more than 110 similar complaints about commanders in every branch of the military had been logged by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

...

These calls have one damn thing in freaking common; our MRFF clients [service members who seek MRFF aid] report the unrestricted euphoria of their commanders and command chains as to how this new “biblically-sanctioned” war is clearly the undeniable sign of the expeditious approach of the fundamentalist Christian “End Times" as vividly described in the New Testament Book of Revelation.

Many of their commanders are especially delighted with how graphic this battle will be zeroing in on how bloody all of this must become in order to fulfill and be in 100% accordance with fundamentalist Christian end of the world eschatology.

Who thinks the complainants will get into trouble for talking back or revealing secret discussions?

So Iran has effectively closed the Straits of Hormuz. I'm sure this will have no impact on oil prices whatsoever. QOTD:
Since Trump first started talking about this, gas prices have risen by almost 80 cents/gal.

RawStory has it, but I find them to be a bit on the edge as well.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) has fielded more than 110 similar complaints about commanders in every branch of the U.S. military between the war's start on Saturday morning and Monday night, reported journalist Jonathan Larson on his Substack page, and the group told him the complaints came from more than 40 different units stationed in at least 30 military installations.

If this were true, it'd be extremely disturbing. My problem in taking this too seriously is I wouldn't expect such an attitude to go too deep down the command chain. Hegseth hasn't been able to infect it that quickly, I wouldn't think. I'll wait till a bigger outlet can report on this with verification.

But for some* reason, THIS time when fuel prices go way up, nobody seems to be talking about it! Imagine that.

I mean, my brother has two step-kids in the military right now, so I'm sure if it's happening I'll hear something about it.

Meanwhile, Trump keeps telling Iran it is over, no more talking. Apparently oblivious that Iran may be able to strike oil infrastructure in the Gulf States. And why not? I'm not suggesting I support such an action by Iran, but rather, they could likely consider it as Trump has made it clear that the end of the road might be here, so the best way to stop from getting to the end of the road is fucking up the global oil / gas market.

If I didn't know better, Trump is looking to escalate this. Tactical nukes might be on the menu for him.

Are you pretending this is new? War with Iran has been a constant in American politics since 1953. We have never shown this nation anything but cruelty and wanton bloodshed. This was true long before Trump came into office. It will be true long after he leaves. No matter what decade it is, if you are Iranian, the US president is somewhere between apathetic and gleeful at the thought of your death. And its not even personal. They know the public fears and distrusts Iran, and they don't seriously fear reprisals from Iran. The perfect political prop, the perfect colonial extraction zone, and they have employed it many times.

Answer me this, if the Epstein thing is all revealed, and Trump and everyone involved is impeached and imprisoned, do you seriously think that would end the war? I'm pretty sure Mayor Pete isn't in The Files. If we elect him, will he order hostilities to cease?

Iran has always been a great punching bag to whip up the American moronacracy into a lather to keep vast sums of money funneled into the Pentagon and away from taking care of our own people. There is nothing new here, except for the fact that the Orange Moron decided to go ahead and actually attack Iran. Where are all those MAGGOTs who say they voted for Trump because he would be a peace president?

Again, the whole historical chain reaction of events that led to now began when good ol’ Ike Eisenhower and the British engineered a coup against a democratically elected government in Iran in 1953, which directly led to the oppressive shah and then to the oppressive mullahs.

Kash Patel gutted FBI counterintelligence team tasked with tracking Iranian threats days before US strikes, sources say

Just days before the United States launched a major military operation in Iran, FBI Director Kash Patel fired a dozen agents and staff members from a counterintelligence unit tasked with monitoring threats from Iran, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

They were ousted for a simple reason: Each was involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump’s alleged retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

What a stupid fuck

Of course it's not new.

But the current action is a notable outlier in scale and intensity.
We have never shown this nation anything but cruelty and wanton bloodshed. This was true long before Trump came into office. It will be true long after he leaves. Yup. All of that also makes it the perfect venue for a war of distraction.

Once started, hostilities take on a life of their own. There's a huge difference between "This wouldn't have started without Trump" and "If Trump were to go, this would end". I assert the former, but don't believe the latter for one moment.

Why do you think this would have to originate with Hegseth? You don’t think this attitude existed in military personnel prior to this administration?

This article, from 2005 - two decades ago - suggests that the attitude has been actively cultivated at least in the USAF for long enough to have easily infiltrated the entire organisation.

It's quaint to see how, back in 2005, the biggest fear was that the outcome might be airforce exposure to lawsuits.

This demented Christian indoctrination stuff in the U.S. military has been going on for a very long time, doubtlessly since the inception of the country. One need only view the 1987 film Full Metal Jacket, set in the late 60s and the Vietnam War. The DI in the Marines bootcamp slaps a recruit, who was Jewish, for declining to say he believed in the Virgin Mary. You can say “it’s only a film,” except for the unsettling fact that the actor who portrayed the Marines DI had been an ACTUAL Marines DI, and acknowledged he wan’t acting at all — just saying the same things and behaving the same way he did when he was a DI. He hd been hired as a consultant for the film but when Stanley Kubrick saw him in action, he hired him as the actor.

I mean, fuck Israel. I couldn't care less.
Why? They are an important ally,

Israel is not an important ally. They are a parasite. They have been oppressing Palestinians for decades on American dime.
and they face the same enemy we in the West do - Islamofascism.

Islamofascism is not our enemy. The vast majority of Muslims are peaceful. There is terror by some tiny sliver of Muslims, but the origin of it is much more complex than people like you are able to understand.
We have WAY more Christian Terrorists right here in this country. A much BIGGER threat.
I'd say we potentially have more Christian terrorists, but at this time, I disagree with your statement. If, for example, Trump had been rightfully removed from office and convicted of the multiple crimes he should've been convicted for, then we may have been looking at something somewhat similar to The Troubles in Northern Ireland. At that point we would've had thousands, if not more Christian terrorists.
