Yet another war, this time with Iran

Trump is pressuring NATO and China to fix what he broke or else thinga might be worse. It is so pathetic and his cult followers support him while the GOP act like feckless cocks.

Trump didn't keep ANY of our allies (if they still are allies after Trump threatened to take Greenland) in the loop on this war at all. Zero communication. Only with Israel.

Trump blows it. The Strait is closed.

And he thinks that it's perfectly normal to ask our allies to chip in to keep the Strait open to clean up his mess.

What a stupid, arrogant fool Trump is.

Similar story.

What a scummy dipshit. He does not consult with NATO. He blindsides them. And then he tells them that they need to help.

I'm a liberal btw. But I get the impression that your world view is too simplistic to be able to fit me into the progressive side of the political spectrum
Hmmm... Perhaps your point will be more clear if you waste everyone's time writing a whole-ass post defending you wounded honor and attacking me personally, rather than just explaining your intended argument.

You projected opinions onto a text that is not in the text. There's nothing to explain. Just read it again trusting that I mean what I say. There's no need to read between my lines

Its not a long text. I think you can manage to control your reactive impulses for such a short little text

I see no need to defend myself against things I have never said. Politesse guessing what I must have really meant, I don't think, should be my problem

Trump insists that world war break out to support his needless military assault on Iran. Demands other nations send their soldiers out to die. Rest of world not exactly wanting to go in that direction. And of course, Trump leads by The Office Manager style.
article said:
"Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran's attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe," Trump wrote on Truth Social, describing the move as a shared responsibility for nations that depend on oil flowing through the narrow shipping channel.

...

But in a follow-up post hours later, Trump's tone shifted. He said countries that receive oil through the strait "must take care of that passage," adding that the U.S. would help co-ordinate the effort.
The Trump admin had a draw on a straight flush, but the final card didn't come up as they needed. Now, they have 8 of spades high. Iran only has a pair, but it is enough to win. Trump wants the other people at the table to bet all their chips to try and get Iran to fold... or else he'll knife their tires. I don't know whether Trump expected our allies (former?) to just listen to him or whether he was projecting strength when he had none or whether he is so deluded he has no idea what control he does and doesn't have.

Our allies continue to be confused as all heck. The solution to this problem is stepping back, but Trump wants our allies to double down on his bet. The impacts of the oil issue are going to harm everyone's economy, so they don't exactly want to ignore the call, but what Trump is asking is for other nations to lose troops and potentially ships in a complicated kill zone that doesn't require sophisticated weaponry to cause large problems.

Yeah it’s insane. But I’m not sure that the MAGATs are supporting him on this. I’ve heard from quite a few that they’re really pissed at him. Polls don’t show much support for this action. But the GOP is still afraid of him. They won’t challenge him, but if this goes much further they might. He’d really have to lose all credibility with his base. Obviously that would take some doing. Maybe a lot of US casualties or a prolonging of the straits closure and gas prices continuing to rise as they are. Maybe it will take a serious economic dislocation.

I don’t know. Right now I don’t have much faith in the American people.

CNN just reported that Trump’s approval approval ratings was 45 before the Iran attack; and its 45 today. It’s not hurting him with his base.

You need to defend yourself against things you never said when your claim is that you have a position and the thing you never said was... Your position.

It is your problem, and you made it your problem when you never actually outright stated your position.

I'm getting exhausted of articles saying the "majority of Americans don't support *insert latest stupid and likely illegal action of Trump" and see the approval at 40 to 45%, as in the needle hasn't moved a micron. It is the same 85% of Democrats, 60 to 65% of Independents.

Yes, the anti-Semitic Russian paid influencers are angry about Iran, but the base is obfuscating this till the cows come home. I can't wait for the Red Hats to start verbally support illegals doing farm work.

Trump is a fucking baby

President Trump on Monday disparaged U.S. allies that he said had relied too long — and too expensively — on American defense, as several of those countries have declined to meet his call to send warships to escort merchant vessels in and out of the Persian Gulf.

“We don’t need anybody; we’re the strongest nation in the world,” Mr. Trump said. He suggested his request for assistance in reopening the Strait of Hormuz instead amounted to a loyalty test of America’s allies. “I’m almost doing it in some cases not because we need them but because I want to find out how they react,” he said.

Referring to countries that have rebuffed, or reacted coolly, to his appeal for ships, Mr. Trump said he had long believed that “if we ever needed help, they won’t be there for us,” and they were proving his point. He added, “You mean for 40 years we’re protecting you and you don’t want to get involved in something that’s very minor?” noting that Europe, Japan and others depend on oil from the Persian Gulf far more than the United States does.

Even so, Mr. Trump said that “numerous countries have told me that they’re on the way.” But asked to name them, he replied, “I’d rather not say yet, but we’ll be announcing them.”

...

Our allies did help on various other self-initiated wars. They ended up learning they were duped in Iraq.

And Trump has been threatening Europe over Greenland.

Trump started this war on Iran. Why would these countries want to help when, as I posted earlier, a military approach to opening up the Strait is almost doomed to fail.

Why would anyone outside of Israel side with this President? He ridiculed the military aid we got from NATO countries in Iraq, and for some reason known only to him, he continually harasses the Canadians and tells them they shouldn't be a country. Oh, and tariffs. If I lived in any of these places that once were proud to be aligned with us, I'd hate everything American and I'd be manic on the subject of boycotts. It will be a long time after Trump takes the dirt nap that any of our old allies will decide we might deserve another chance.

What a fucking whiny bitch.

Well... I didn't want your military support anyway!

Come on! It is just a very minor *air quotes* kill box.

Ya I posted a link to that above.

It's difficult to put into words his loathsome and despicable Trump is. He lies and blames others for his own self created problems. I predict he'll lash out even more and make everyone hate the US. Most of Europe and Canada already hate us now.

NATO Article 5 (the article that says an attack in any member will be responded to as an attack on all, and so requiring member states to act to defend each other, if attacked) has only been invoked once.

On that occasion, every NATO member (along with a number of non-NATO nations) immediately agreed to provide whatever assistance they could to the NATO member state that had been attacked.

That was on the 11th of September, 2001.

When you needed help, we were there for you. That doesn't mean we will blindly back any stupid beligerence you choose to blunder into.

Gratitude has a short half-life or shelf life.

Trump has been dissing our allies and talking shit about them, imposing stupid tariffs on them from the start. Now he's done something completely stupid and he wants their help to bail him out of the predicament he's gotten us all into. Of course they are telling him to fuck off. Loyalty is a two way street. Trump doesn't understand that. He's been a spoiled brat who has never had to be responsible for the shit he does since he was a child and now its biting him in his ass.
