Saudis have Islamic dress. The whole point is to not stick out. So its actually appropriate for them to wear western dress when outside a Muslim country. But Saudis still mostly wear their Dishdasha when in the country.

Palestinians have adopted western clothing. Again, in order to not stick out, all men will wear basic suits. With or without the jacket on (because its warm over there).

At work they might wear something more appropriate. But the point is to not look flashy.

But people want to look flashy, so in Islamic countries there's convoluted ways to look flashy without looking flashy.

In Dubai for instance the tradition is to have a shitty basic suit with the left arm too short. And then the most extravagant luxury watch they can buy. If you know you know. And if you don't you will just think this is a basic bitch.

Compare it to Turkish dress, where these restrictions are much looser. Guys can look like circus clowns in their absurd oriental gear. Middle-Easterners have quite different tastes in art and clothes and aren't afraid of colour

These restrictions in clothing go way back to Mohammed. Often the caliphs, because some are more equal than others have in true egalitarian fashion egalitarianly broken the bank to look like a prom queen. This has ALWAYS been frowned upon and caliphs have been murdered or deposed for it.

$3.99 in NE Ohio yesterday, it might be over $4 now. $4.20 is my high water mark I believe back in '06 or '07? That'd be about $5.50 a gallon today I'd guess.

Strong candidates are necessary, but there's a problem with that: strong candidates would have power to actually shift the party and that's also unacceptable to the current leadership because then they would lose power.

Only an "artificially groomed candidate" like Clinton or Newsom fits the bill, and the robotic entitlement that these "groomed" assholes have is plain as can be.

Instead of running such assholes, the Dems SHOULD be focused on actually weakening the GOP, running for their seats, splitting their votes with single issue parties (Ban Abortion Now/Stop Trans/Americana First party candidates filling the ballot, anyone?) while running people who will actually do meaningful work to stop the GOP and the rightward slide.

Trump did better with Hispanics and black men and Arabs. Trump won because he has done what he has made a career of, convincing people to act against their own self interest for his own. It is the only thing he is good at.
