Donald Trump loyalist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) cannot block efforts to disqualify her from running for re-election on the grounds that she allegedly engaged in insurrection, a federal judge ruled.

The ruling does not itself stop Greene’s re-election campaign, but it means a federal court will not grant Greene’s lawyers request to end-run a challenge submitted to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) assessing that question. A challenge, brought by five Georgia voters, will now go before an administrative law judge in Atlanta on Friday.

Somehow, I don't think this is going to go anywhere but it does give me a small ray of hope. My friends and I have often mentioned what an embarrassment MTG is to those of us who live in Georgia. The Democrat who is challenging her seems well qualified, that is assuming that a sharp, moderate, black man with military experience could win enough votes in MTG's district. There are several Republican challenging her as well. None of them could be as bad as MTG, but it would be nice to see someone like her tossed out of Congress due to what looks like her illegal behavior.

Surprising news, because the two seem much alike. From RS,
Greene and Boebert, two of the most virulent conspiracy theorists in Congress, seem like they’d be the best of friends. They trade in the same kinds of bigotry; whine over the same culture war issues animating Trump’s base, and even heckled President Biden together during the State of the Union address last month.

This doesn’t seem to be the case. Politico notes that Boebert “detests” being tied to Greene, and that she was none too pleased with Greene’s decision to give a speech at a white nationalist conference organized by Nick Fuentes during which speakers pushed the “great replacement” theory, called for Dr. Anthony Fauci to be hanged, called for the audience to cheer Vladimir Putin, and gave winking nods to Hitler. Greene’s presence was controversial enough that she attempted to distance herself from Fuentes, claiming she doesn’t know him and thus she “is not aligned with anything that may be controversial.”

Privately, Republicans say Boebert (R-Colo.) — who’s seen as more of a party team player than Greene — detests being tied to her Georgia colleague. And when the House Freedom Caucus board of directors gathered last month at its usual spot a few blocks from the Capitol, the two tangled over Greene’s appearance at a February event organized by a known white nationalist.

Their confrontation grew so heated that at least one onlooker feared the Greene-Boebert back-and-forth might escalate beyond the verbal cage match had another board member not stepped in to de-escalate, according to a GOP lawmaker who was granted anonymity to describe what happened. The incident was confirmed by three people connected to the Freedom Caucus, whose members largely avoided public criticism of Greene and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) at the time and focused their discontent on the event organizer, Nick Fuentes.

Pretending for a moment that there's an ounce of sincerity in her babblings, why did she laugh? Did Eliot Ness laugh when he spoke of bringing down Al Capone?

She must have been laughing at herself, and showing enough self-awareness to understand she's just a comic in the Alex Jones/Tucker Carlson mode. OR laughing at the nitwits who fall for her prattle. (Perhaps my question would be answered if I clicked the video . . . but life is too short.)

Note that starfish, pentaradially symmetrical, are in Branch Bilateria, not Branch Radiata. The earliest stages of starfish are indeed bilaterally symmetric but juvenile starfish undergo a VERY complex metamorphosis.

I'm not a biologist and shouldn't comment on Homo horrificus, or whatever species "Karen" Gr**n is, but she resembles a hominid, so is presumably also in Branch Bilateria.

Has anyone mentioned that despite all of her "I don't recall" lies, she's still on the ballot and expected to win. Fuck!

Or else they are just plain desperate to have a Republican in office. There are several people trying to primary her, so let's see if any of them succeed. Yes, several Republicans are running against her: Marjorie Taylor Greene - Ballotpedia

I know that there are several other Republicans running in the primaries, but I think her district still supports her and in Georgia, one must get at least 50% of the vote to be on the ballot. I suspect that there will be a run off, and sadly, I'm afraid she will be reelected. The borders of her district have changed, but most of the new areas still trend Republican. I guess there is hope, as not all Republicans are happy to have her represent them. We will know shortly, as our primary election is next week, May 24th.

There's already been a lot of early voting, and from what I've read, more Republicans are voting early compared to Democrats. Maybe the Dems are voting absentee. One can only hope. I'm more concerned about Warnock losing to Walker. Walker is the black version of Trump and he's very popular among the Republicans, due to his football star background. How crazy is that? Walker is far ahead of the other Republican candidates running for that Senate seat. Stupidity is the only explanation for that.

Maybe some GOP decide to go third party against them? If the party fractures over bad faith, maybe it's the wakeup call they need to abandon bad faith.

Yup. Looks like bad news. If we are counting on the 1/6 committee hearings in June, or a huge abortion kerfuffle in August to deliver wins in November, the Democrat Party could be outlawed by 2024.
 
So, she easily won her primary and Marcus Flowers, the Democrat who was one of the Democrats running against her, won his primary. I like Flowers, but there is no way he's going to win in that district. I would be delighted to be proven wrong.
 
I lived in Calhoun Georgia for a few years. I can see how she'd be popular in that area. Based on the racism I witnessed and the level of education generally she's a perfect fit. Every other word is ni**er.
