Mar-a-Largo raided by FBI?

Judge signals he’s willing to unseal some of Mar-a-Lago affidavit

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A federal judge said Thursday that he is “inclined” to unseal some of the affidavit central to last week’s FBI search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida home, instructing the Justice Department to redact the document in a way that would not undermine its ongoing investigation if made public.

Federal Magistrate Judge Bruce E. Reinhart, appearing to reject the government’s argument for keeping the entire document sealed, said he would make a determination after next Thursday, when Justice Department officials are expected to submit their proposed redactions
I'm already dreading the right-wing spin that is going to come out of it. And "the base" is going to accept it unconditionally.

NYT - Why did Trump keep the docs

It all belonged to him, he felt, melded together into a Trump brand that he had been nurturing for decades.

The orange clown did not even know what he had. He kept the documents like a trophy - like a 3rd grader! o_O

He would rip up classified information which he had not read and throw it on the floor or in the toilet like the immature child he is.

Staffers or valets would carry around cardboard boxes of the stuff behind him!!
This is almost too idiotic to believe as the truth about the documents.

But given how idiotic the source of the behavior is, the agent responsible for so behaving...

Well, I think it would be too dangerous a narrative to accept. We must assume some of it got leaked.

Laura Ingraham is delusional to think GOP voters will grow tired of Trump. They love his crimes | Salon.com
"The country I think is so exhausted," Fox News host Laura Ingraham said Monday on a right-wing podcast. "They're exhausted by the battle, the constant battle, that they may believe that, well, maybe it's time to turn the page if we can get someone who has all Trump's policies, who's not Trump."
Except that being raided gave Trump a poll boost.
Yes, it’s all a lib’rul plot to destroy the Republicans by keeping them saddled with Trump.

Honestly, I trust Salon.com as much as I trust Fox. The most dangerous thing to do is to expect the GOP to be incapable of a swivel to DeSantis or the like.

Everyone's just waiting till the chips fall and jockeying for position until the moment...

Though, even that is interesting: you'll note that one of the first things people say DeSantis is that he's "like Trump but competent" - so even if the GOP swivels to another human being, can the GOP pivot away from the role model?
"Unflinching narcissist man-child psychotic regressive lunatic fascist" seems to be the current standard.
I personally don't blame that on Trump because I think the standard was set in the mid 90s and Trump just happened to be the best possible ham sandwich to shove into that empty space, it seems that his particular personality quirks have set the mold casings, if you will.

If you think DeSantis incapable of spending a few hours in front of a mirror and a few million on speech writing to nail Trumpisms correctly, I'm sure he has some land to sell you; he is in Florida, after all.

I could dance that dance myself, but I'm not an evil asshole, so I won't.

Wait... what?
That's kind of literally what I just said: that a particular model has been set for what the right expects of their candidates, and that model is Trump shaped - so whoever ends up being the new poster boy, be it DeSantis or whomever else, is going to have to present themselves in the form of that model in order to be appealing to the Republican voter base.

Oh, I see. I originally interpreted it as "DeSantis can't follow that act with more of the same" rather than "DeSantis must follow that act with more of the same".

My fault, I should have cropped out more of your post, because what I was responding to was just the sentence "The most dangerous thing to do is to expect the GOP to be incapable of a swivel to DeSantis or the like."

I meant to focus on it being interesting to me that even baked into that idea... that the GOP can swivel to someone else... the "someone else" is still distinctly Trumpesque.
Whoever ends up running in 2024 will absolutely be Trumpian in some way, if not Trump himself. There is zero chance of a 2024 nominee being a Liz Chaney type or uh... what's that old guy from AZ, from the Jan 6th hearing... the Republican guy who wouldn't go along with the election fraud schemes.

"100% certified evil" has been a requirement for Republican officials since at least the 60s, but now also a "bloviating dipshit" has become a more recent requirement.

So the hearing over releasing the affidavit happened. Trump's lawyers sat on their hands and didn't say a thing. The only ones that spoke up for release were news organizations.

So after all the pissing and moaning, it appears Trump really didn't want it released.

Eh. That doesn’t mean anything. The motions to unseal the affidavit are by the media. The optics are just better for them to fight it out rather than it appear Trump is trying to disrupt an investigation.

I think that is a misread. If the media prevails, Trump gets what he literally asked for. If the media does not, Trump can harp about how the deep state is simply persecuting him because it has nothing on him.

The best of both worlds for Cheato, if it comes out heavily redacted.
See? Look how much they’re hiding!”
and at the same time, most of the real dirt on him remains obscured.

It is painfully obvious (see: unredacted search warrant) that he wants the name of the leaker/rat to be released. Not so he can "doxx" them with mean posts on social media. Remember, Trump thinks/acts like a mob boss. This is a man with an informal army of violent followers, and this is the closest he's been to having his empire of bullshit collapse and go to trial. He also thinks that (as a former President) he is all-powerful and invincible. He won't come out and say "kill (leaker)," but he'll agree with the sentiment.

I wonder if Allen Weisselberg will suddenly fall down his home's stairs.

He's probably investing in an Acorn® Stairlift right about now.
