China Prepares for War - Our Response?

7nm Huawei chip really bothers neocon regime in US.
Barbos The Barbarian:

We are roughly split 50/50 between the left abd rifgt with each side ranging from moderate to extrene. Neo cons are a small faction. Plus independents.

China has semiconductor technology because the Europeans and Americans brought it to China in the first place, If not China would still be a backwards peasant nation.

The Soviets never developed advanced electronics. When I worked for Lockheed in the 80s I participated in reverse engineering Soviet military technology. The Russians got good at miniaturizing tubes.

I had a look at the 80s Russian equivalent to the American Sidewinder air to air missile. Instead of transistors the Russian missile had tubes.

In fact while I don't knw abput today through the 90s Russa wbecame the only place for audio mtures to get vacuum tubes. Audio purists who rejected transistors as inferior for audio.

I got a look at a dissembled 80s Russian sonobuoy. It had an Intel processor. Black market chips.

China as of yet does not have the capability to design and produce the specialized equipment and specialized design software to manufacture advanced integrated circuits.

I think we are banning export to China now.

China is shooting itself in the foot. It was western technology that China did not contribute to that which brought China to its modern sate. They steal intelectual property and are quite open about it.

Tubes don't stop working when exposed to the electromagnetic pulse from a nuclear explosion, or to high levels of ionising radiation.

In the context of the Cold War environment of the 1980s, transistors may have been a poor design choice.

They’re very very good at it. Almost like ya gotta give them some cred.

No pain no gain.....

People like billionaire Ray Dalio and Peter Turchin will tell you there are structural trends and debt cycles that over time cause a current world order into decline which is what we are at present faced with. And at the end of the final stage (we are just entering now) the current world order (the US) will often start a war or wars in order to maintain its current position of declining dominance.

None of the current situation is China's fault. It was American corrupt politicians who gave away the US middle class to China in the first place. Our politicians (mostly the Clinton's and Bush's) traded their individual wealth for our middle class wealth and well being. And it is now America's current corrupt Biden administration who have enacted the sanctions against Russia. Sanctions which (because of Biden) the rest of the world now views as an act of war....more important to them than the US military. These countries (including India) are (rightfully) doing everything they can to circumvent the US dollar in the future. Because they fear they might be next.

According to Turchin, the biggest factor creating all sorts of trouble in the US in the first place, was an overproduction of elites who over competed for the jobs they wanted. And according Dalio the only thing we can hope to do at this point is get along better to find solutions to our dismal state of education, health care and infrastructure (fat chance). And we must also find a way to live within our means without borrowing from the future (also fat chance). The US must become as a nation without borrowing that is productive and industrial again. In order to reach these goals everyone must be given an equal opportunity (turn off the money pump going to the elites) without destroying capitalism trying to give everyone an equal outcome.

In the absence of any political stability to fix these many wrongs, it is obvious to everyone we are headed for some kind of major war and/or reset. But it won't be China that starts this war, they are only reacting sanely to what the US will do. Because as authoritative as the PRC government is (which is terrible), at least I do not believe Xi is as corrupt as our US government. For example, I do not believe president Xi will desire to start a big war just for personal gain as I would expect from someone like Pelosi or McConnel. It is the neocons and neolibs we should be fearing the most. For the most part China is in the business of business and the US has mostly been in the business of war.

Fighter jets don't need to worry about firing sidewinders if nuclear bombs are falling down around them. There wouldn't be any short range planes to attack. Also, the plane might be falling from the sky.

Just put five feet of lead shielding on missiles... it'll be fine. :D

Military avionics are shielded against EMP. The quip I heard was the pilot dies but the plane keeps on flying.

There are solid state electronics that are hardened against particle radiation. There are special processors qualified for use in space.

You have firearms because Chinese brought gunpowder to you in the first place.
7nm tech is chinese own. And you have 7-3nm tech because you stole russian EUV light sources.

Maoism led to starvation and mass deaths, and the chaos of the Cultural Revolution.

The successors to Mao opened up to western investment, and that is what allowed China to rebuild itself.

The Chinese economy is in trouble. From recent reporting mismanagement of financial instutions and mismanaging debt. Add to that a collapsing real estate market said to be upwards of 30% of the economy.

Meanwhile Biden's negotiated deal with Vietnam includes an order for Boeing jets and building semiconductor pants in VN. It will take a while, western companies will be reducing dependence ob China. Too much political uncertainty and a threat of China acting irrationally.

Like Russia China is shooting itself in the foot with antagonism to the west.

China called Biden's deal with VN Cold War tactics, yet ir is China who is saber rattling and claiming intentional waters as Chinese.

Both China and Russia are clinging to the old failed communist paradigm of central authoritarian control and rigid social control.

Maybe the CCP elite are just too ignorant and self absbed to raelize they are not acting in thir best interest.

Two words: Combat gliders. ;)

More seriously: It always amuses me when I see headlines like the thread title here. "China prepares for war"...really? How much is China spending compared to...oh, I dunno, let's pick a country at random, like, say...the United States? How should the rest of the world be reacting as the US constantly prepares, and increases it's "preparation" for war?

It's the hypocrisy of the bully.

Americanism led to slavery.
British colonialism led to slavery.

In the long run our constitution led to civil rights for minorities, including gays. And those who oppose government policy. Free speech and free press. Polucal parties not controed by government. Lanor unions.

The antithesis of Russia and China.

Shall I go on?

Nonsense. If it could it would take Taiwan and do what it did to Hong Kong.

After the VN war China invade Vietnam.

China and India have been shooting at each other over China trying to seize a border area. Tey annexed Tibet after finding mineral resources.

China has shot at Philippine fishing boats in international waters claiming ownership.

You definition of bully needs a little work. Unless you are a shill for China.

Preparation for war? How much more preparation do we need before this US "bully" is ready to kick everyone's ass? Why haven't we done so already?

What the US is doing, has been doing is keeping the sea lanes open for commerce. Our history supports this. What China is doing in violation of the UNCLOS is claiming the South China Sea and is a threat to maritime shipping routes there and through the Straits of Malacca.

It's not just the US. Australia and Japan recognize the danger of China's belligerence at that this may not be a fight the US can win on its own.

You do realize that the US is trying to prevent or stop China from invading Taiwan? China is much more powerful than Taiwan and 5 times its size. I would recommend reading up on the subject before posting…

That is it. China is threatening freedom of navigation at sea and in the air for what has long been intentional space.

China a ways back declared they own and control the seas which is a major shipping lane. They redrew ther maps amd it is in ter school books. They built an artfificial island and fortfied it. They also claim small islands long held by Japan, and once made a claim to Okinawa.

China is in a pre WWII mentality, as is Russia. We know where that led.

First, it’s not the spending that matters in this case. It’s the specific actions that they are taking that they are signaling that they are prepared to attack that is at issue. Russia spends a fraction of the US DoD budget, but their preparations for war were obvious and even open.

Second, a large portion of our defense budget isn’t really for defense, and certainly isn’t for immediate military action. It’s used for long term R&D and a significant portion is for some congressman‘s pet project for his district. We are definitely not preparing to attack any nation in the near future. China is.
