China Prepares for War - Our Response?

British colonialism led to slavery.
Oh, throwing british under the bus?
You ARE the british, you happily benefited from slavery.
Yes, Tuskegee is a stain in our history one of many, but we are transparent about it. It is covered in schools as something that should not be repeated.

Slavery? What about the Soviet labor camps, gulags? The slave labor that built the Sibverian railroad?

What do you have to say about your USSR making a pact with Nazis and Hitler for non agression in exchange for post war lands? Like Poland and Finland.

The dffernce between west and Russia and China is we reject dictatorships like Russia ad China. We believe government exists to ensure individual rights.

Our constitution gave us a means of change wthout destructive conflicts. We went from slavery in 1800 to an elecred black president. That represents change.

Russia went from a brutal repressive dictator Stalin to a brutal repressive Putin, no change.

China went from a brutal repressive dictator Mao to a brutal repressive Jinping, no change. China made economic progress by changing from the orginal communist economic model, but is in danger of destroying their progrtess.

There is no dictatorship in Russia now. In US, on the other hand, you have deep state oligarchy.
Yes, last time I checked, you don't have a democracy, you have an appearance of democracy

Now I see the depth of your ignorance.

Formally at the federal level we have a representative democratic republic not a direct democracy The founders rejected direct democracy. States elect their members of congress by voters in the states.

Here in Washington state we have referendums. If anyone gets enough signatures on a petition a proposal goes to a state wide vote. If it passes it becomes law, a high degree of legal power by the people.

Each state has a high degree of autonomy. The governor and state legislaure are all eleced by the people. Our national president has no direct authority over what each state does, but states have to follow federal law passed by congress. The presidet has no dorect control over busness or the economy, to a large extend the economy runs by itself in accordance with supply and demsnd, although not entirely.

Neither oligarchy nor plutocracy really apply to the USA. People can and do rise from the bottom to the top. Anyone can star a business. Apple started in a garage. Starbucks and Amazon. The original Hewlett Packard stared in a garage by two engineers.

Personal initiate unfettered by government is a core economic principle. IMO part of China's problem is the CCP can't let go of power ad central control. Make it a true free market and it could stimulate domestic consumption.

Stark contrast to Russia and China where there are no individual rights, free speech, and free press. There are no independent voices to oppose government which we consider essential.

We do not anat to be ants in a colony.

You can not bring up anything negatve that we do not already know about ourselves, and gets discussed openly.

Do Russians discuss the Staliln-Hitler pact or the gulags?

And they evolved into a printer scam business where you can't have scanner working unless you buy ink cartridges.
What the fuck? Over....you are weird.

The bottom line is Russia is in a war running out of ammunition, Russia is more isolated than ever before, Putin is begging NK for ammunition must be humiliating for Putin, dependence on Russian energy by Europe is diminishing, Russians are isolated from the global economy.

Putin forced the formerly neutral Norway and Sweden into NATO.

The Chinese economy is having problems.

Meamwhile the west moves on. We are heading back to the moon. Western science and social systems are evolving. We have gotten over the pandemic. Inflation is cumming down and the economy so far is stable. Unemployment is low. Not that we don't have probems, but they are being addressed.

What say you about the Stalin-Hitler pact? Russia suffered in the war, but I think they got what tey deserved for aligning with Hitler in the first place.

Both China and Russia are making the same mistake. They are working hard to stay in the past while most t of the wprld moves on.

I wish I could share your optimism Steve. Citizens of the US can not even fix the most simple and basic problems that everyone knows is wrong with our politicians and government. We have a demented POTUS so feeble and aged he stumbles and falls asleep, a senate leader who routinely goes into staring seizures and Pelosi of our congress who can't be stopped doing inside stock trading for her own profit. Government agencies who are obviously weaponizing the law for political purposes plus other government agencies who are so obviously owned by lobby's doing harm to the public. A federal government bloated with debt and administrators who no one can possibly know what good they do. We send billions for a war most Americans really don't need to care about yet can't seem to secure our own border or provide the most minimum of infrastructure such as high speed rail. Most of the population can't come up with $400 cash and the others who have saved anything at all aren't financially secure either since our federal reserve has bloated our dollar to the point a financial reset is expected in the near future. (the US dollar is not trusted by the public to be real money which is why bit coin has become so popular) If we have a close federal election, neither side will trust the results because that does not work either.

Just exactly what does the federal government do right? And if you believe the state government's are any better you should take a careful look at California and San Francisco right now. Even if the state governments really mattered (like they should but don't) and could be fixed locally, they aren't the real problem anyway since most of our tax money, labor, and treasure has and is being sucked into federal black hole government.

Russia and China think we have become a banana republic and they appear to be right.

Is it just me, or does it seem like right wingers are becoming more and more indistinguishable from the Putinistas?!

My chromic response to your kind of thinking is that if you want a perfect system like you want to be as you think fill it with perfect people like yourself.

You likely have never had to solve difficult problems in a group with strong different views and personalties. Sometimes it can be like haerding cats.

Just my cursory reading on our history tells me while science has advanced our politics has not really changed from the day the constitution was signed.

Publishing fake stories about opponents was not uncommon. Jefferson was attacked for being weak on defense and painted as somebody who would sell us out to France. I looked at 19th century newspapers that are online.

The thing today is we get to see it all 24/7 on news.

The states seem to work reasonably well.

Centralized Russian and Chinese communism failed catastrophically. The Russian authorterian system that followed is failing. The Chinese authoteria system that followed may be in trouble if the economic pundits are right.

Meanwhile western systems so far post WWII have found ways out of serious crises. Histricaly NATO and the EU are profound historical events. There has not been any major conflict in Europe post WWII after construes of conflict. And along comes Russia string a large scale war and Chines militarism and conquest.

It took around 160 years for the 60s civil rights legislation to be signed. About 200 yaras for a black president. In historical time scale that happened very fast.

So, wetern stability so far has been tested and passed. States tend to try and co operate over war. Without that western democracy fails globally.

Our system is being tested by Trump. He would like to be like Putin. The question back in the early 1800s was could a state be stable run by the people without an overarching ruling cass, like the Brits had.

Every day is an experiment.

The big problem in federal politicss is they don't seem to realize the system has limits, and we can fail ending up with soething nobody wants.

You did not know? HP sells printer-scanner combos which can not be used as scanner unless you put ink cartridge in it, And it's get used at each turn on. Is not HP (US) great?
Wow...it can't scan without ink in it. How is that a conspiracy? Sounds like a design decision was made, without knowing how the system is designed I can't say.

I am sure Russia designs and makes much better products. Use one of them.
