IMO the thing that sent Trump circling the drain mentally (and politically, hopefully) was Biden dropping out and Harris rocketing past him in favorability, media attention and swing State polls. The near miss made him snarling ass mad, but that’s his usual state of being.

Perhaps that's the one thing his campaign team have managed to actually change. Stop saying vaguely racist things about your opponent? Stop talking incessantly about crowd sizes? Stop posting crazy conspiracy theories on Truth Sociopath? Stop saying things that insult veterans? Stick to the script and don't go off on tangents about a fictional murderer from a movie you liked? Focus on policy, or for fuck's sake just focus? Change up your makeup routine a bit so people stop calling you names?

I didn't know the boy was getting lighter. But many people are saying, he's 'going to disappear, one day, it's like a miracle...(he) will disappear...'
Or no, that was Trump talking about covid in Feb. 2020. Back when we'd 'only' lost 25,000 Americans to it.
 
Well he apparently is bolstering that claim by being seen by fewer people. While the DNC convention is underway in Chicago, Trump has chosen to grace the town of Howell Michigan with his presence. Howell, population 10,000 or so. Now, some media outlets have pointed out that the town has some lingering white supremacist/klan sympathies, but that's a lot of small towns in rural Michigan. The real issue here is that he's not exactly burning up the major markets. He's been on a kick of small events in towns/states where he's got things locked up for the most part, with the only "rally" coming up Friday in Glendale Arizona. It will be interesting to see if he can pack that arena with enthusiastic fans like Harris did, but still...

Is he tired? Lazy. Afraid to go out in front of large crowds since getting nicked by a bullet?
 
In 2016, Donald Trump made a lot of stupid stops in stupid places. Turned out, it wasn't stupid at all. It was targeted. Trump is campaigning in small rural America because he needs them to turn out like crazy to have any shot at winning states like MI, WI, and PA. Trump won PA, MI, and WI in 2016 in part by nickel and diming every sparse populated county in the state. 500 here, 1000 there. It added up.

Have you seen those Trump signs with his fist raised after being nicked in the ear? They say in big letters at the bottom "Fight!" Someone needs to take those signs and put a line through "Fight" and write "Felon!"

I do think Orangey is a bit intimidated by large outdoor crowds anymore. When he has a choice lately he chooses the smaller venue. It may be because of what Jimmy says. We will see. It may be because of all the empty seats too. Looks bad when crowds don't gather at the mount to listen to the orange beatitudes.

Trump's last big rally was in Bozeman, MT if I'm not mistaken...not exactly a risk of the state turning blue. Also, while the Democratic convention is underway, both Harris and Walz are also stopping into small towns in swing states. IIRC, when the Republican convention was going on, Trump was...golfing?

Maybe he's convinced himself that he really has this one in the bag?

He got so confused by the switcheroo that he suddenly had no idea what to do or say. He still doesn’t, if you’ve paid any attention.
He HAD convinced himself he would beat sleepy joe like a bad dog, but then that “victory” was “stolen” from him.
Poor baby, ever the victim.
 
I think I read somewhere (I know I should look it up), that he does not have the cash to pay for rallys at large venues, and he owes several for past rally's. It may be finances.

He already has those votes this time. He needs new votes, but won’t find them in rural Michigan.

Getting nicked by a bullet mught cause anyone to be wary of large crowds esp, if the secret service is in charge of event security. I would not blame Trump or anyone for feeling that.
