I know we have some Christians around here of various stripes.

It is undeniable that he has been ticking off boxes.

However part of the very message of DUNE was that these events can also be engineered.

There's still uncertainty in the air.

Roundups are starting soon according to a thing with a Trump official spokesperson.

They may start rebuilding the temple in Israel.

There is a betrayal of Israel likely in the works.

Will they roll out an implant-based ID?

Legally mandated loyalty pledges?

This is literally the plot of that shitty Christian Left Behind novel series, and it just makes me so sad.

Maybe Nero was the antichrist too, in a way?

Maybe this just happens.

But all the boxes got checked, like someone is doing a Speedrun and that's really spooky to me.

I know in a thread some time ago, someone posted a link to some Christian arguing as much.

Anyway, it's probably time to have a proper thread where we discuss seriously the spookiness of a modern repetition of the Antichrist prophecies of Revelation.

And what implications does this have for atheists if this is true? Or is it the sort of prophecy that ambitious people try to fake the fulfillment of, so as to gain power?

This is the biggest conundrum in the modern US political landscape. Why do Christians overwhelming support Trump?

I remember when Trump first announced his candidacy. I wrote him off as a self indulgent billionaire running a vanity candidacy.

I knew that he needed the Christian vote to survive as a Republican candidate. No way would enough Christians support a lying philandering New Yorker to get anywhere. It was obvious to me that either a Bush or Cruz would get the Republican support necessary to win the nomination, maybe Kasich if Republicans came to their senses. US Republican party standards were a bit higher than Trump and Christian standards were higher than that.

Boy was I wrong.

Christians, as a group, have no standards when it comes to honesty, fidelity, charity, or human rights. If their human authorities tell them to behave a certain way, they'll not question it, they'll do as they are told!

It was bizarre watching the Christians in my country show their true colors.

I usually vote Democrat but oppose a lot of what the Democrats stand for on a party level, but at least they can make a reasoned argument for the positions they gold The Republicans these days just appeal to base instinct and selfishness.

Any sort of honest assessment? Maybe a description of what to the think Antichrist is and a comparison or contrast?

You're the one here who may have some manner of strong belief about preparing for such events, after all.

Trump ran pro life and Hillary ran pro choice, death, and more wars. If you are a Christian you are supposed to believe in preserving life. Personality I think the abortion issue should be totally not controlled or regulated by the government in the first place.

But regardless, I would not call card carrying Christians dumbfucks for voting for the pro life stance that is so important to their values

I'm related to folks who revere Trump, mostly because they're deeply committed to the anti-abortion thing (one of 'em has actually planned demonstrations and made press statements.) They must block out every other facet of Trump -- I don't understand this in depth, because the last thing I'll ever do is discuss politics with them. Thus I've never heard them talk about Trump's family separation policy from Trump I, which one would think a Christian and ProLifer would find fiendishly evil. They're strait-laced, and I have no idea how they confront Trump's vulgar speech, with all the pussy grabbing, motherfuckers, bastards, etc. I certainly don't say Damn in their hearing! Orthodox belief is always attended with compartmentalization. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!", etc., except that no one has to tell them that. Their own Biblical god kills off more fetuses and babies and children than the most industrious human abortionist could tally up. I think they'd applaud Satan if he wrote an amicus brief supporting SCOTUS in Dobbs.

One of the bigger elements of Revelation is the description of the acts and tendencies of "The Beast".

It showcases a number of acts and ties these directly to this figure, and while I expect as instated before this is a figure from ancient history, history repeats.

It is interesting watching the Christians of today fall in behind Trump, when the Bible says very specific things concerning rebuilding the temple in Israel, and when this is, unfortunately, a possibility.

It's just been so long since I cared about any of that that it would probably help to hear from people who still do?

What is it exactly that people these days are taught about this in church?

What do modern believers believe about it?

Where do they stand on who in the past qualifies as Antichrist or Beast and what this means for a "return"?

I am solidly Prolife. That includes everything from invasions to environmental damage to capital punishment and pregnant women.

Most Christians don't seem to be very prolifer unless they can use government overreach to force their opinions on everyone else.
