• Welcome to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

So, besides voting (it's too late), What can we do?

“The numbers are incredible, Elon. So many millions, billions — hundreds of billions,” Trump said in his speech. “And we’re thinking about giving 20% back to the American citizens, and 20% down to pay back our debt.”

So, um.. where does the other 60% go?
I'm still waiting for my commerative Trump bitcoin.

Any DOGE funds coming our way will likely be in the form of a Trump Store gift card.
WE can buy our official copy of the Trump bible....complete with the pledge of allegiance and the words to "proud to be an American"

My position: To beat Maga you need Robin Hood economic populism.
That's the problem. Musk looks like Robin Hood to the MAGAots. Looks like a hood to me.
And if enough of us have confidence this money is not just printed we might...
You must mean the MAGAots. Only they are that gullible.
we can spend without inflating the rest of our currency.
You are delusional.
Bilby
Do not encourage Yanks to come here please.
We have enough wallies already*
As long as you turn back the MAGAots, the rest of us should not be a problem.

Most of the supporters of the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party are still expecting that their own faces will be exempt. They are slow learners, and will be shocked and angry when they discover the hard way that there were never any exemptions for non-billionaires.
I can’t wait to see the expressions on -
Oh wait, never mind!

We should be anticipating our prospect of receiving our $5000 dodge check
$650,000,000,000.
… is only zero point six five trillion.
Trump is going to (says he is going to) cut 2 trillion from the budget and raise the debt limit by 4 trillion.
I wonder where RVonse thinks the other FIVE POINT THREE FIVE TRILLION is going to disappear to, and what THAT is going to do to inflation.

Republitards are incredibly innumerate.
No wonder they have so much to complain about. With their apricot picking their pockets, there will be plenty for them to blame on the Dems if there is ever another election.

The DOGE check revenue comes from wages not being paid to the cut employees. NOT printed currency.
So, when all those employees stop being able to buy stuff, what effects do you think that will have on the economy?

Not to mention all the people who will not get the services those employees provided.

The bill in the House cuts something like 800 billion from Medicaid. What will all the poor MAGAs who rely on M'caid or SNAP do when they lose these benefits? Will they blame it on the Dems or finally come to their senses and realize they've been had? Plus, those of us who rely on SS for a large part of our income or for all of our income, may well be fucked if the felon, the muskrat and Little Mikey aren't stopped. There is a lot of activism going on among programs that protect these benefits. That's a start.

There are some movements in the making and some Republicans are finally starting to grow some balls and at least gently speaking up against the felon and the rat. There has to be a way where the more moderate Dems and the few Republicans who still have half a brain, unite and lead us out of this disaster. Protests and showing up at town hall meetings, when your Congress critter calls a meeting for the public will help. A few places in red states have had big turnouts booing and hissing etc. at their Republican Congress critter, whenever he supports Trump's actions or plans. There was especially a lot of criticism towards the musk rat, as he was never elected and is obviously a dangerous, fucked up sociopath. Some of these people have to stop drinking the Kool-Aide. I have to believe that.

I doubt it helps to believe that all is lost and it's hopeless. This country....no my country made it through some horrific times starting with how the colonists committed genocide towards indigenous people, and held slaves who were treated brutally. Then, we survived the Civil War and things improved a little bit, followed by Jim Crow in the South, but the Civil rights movement of the 60s brought us forward. Prior to that, there was the McCarthy Era, not all that much different from some of what we are seeing today. After a long history of sexism, women fought to get voting rights and feminism gave us more power, but again, the country fell back with the overturning of R v W and DEI. We go forward and then fall backward. Then we go forward again. It's a human thing. Just don't give up the fight. ( at least not yet ):angryfist:

IF they blame Democrats to you about it, do this - tell them that you have learned the error of your ways. Then, hand them a fishing pole and a tub of worms and tell them "if I feed a man a fish, you only feed him once. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime". Then wish them good luck.

Hmmm … tough question? Nope.

Speaking up very very softly. Just enough to excuse themselves when the shit really hits the fan.
I doubt it helps to believe that all is lost and it's hopeless.
Grasping at straws for signs that Republitards are going to abandon their Orange Jesus isn’t really propitious either.
To change any outcomes is going to require a lot of work, with no guarantees. The depth of delusion is mind boggling;
Look at RVonse thinking he has seen George Soros conduct a purge (purges?) “first hand”. Doesn’t even bother him that he can’t quite actually recall it, as long as he’s fully convinced it happened.
There’s not much that can be done about such intrenched mass insanity.

I don't consider myself much of a MAGA guy in the first place but I very much doubt either Trump or Musk is at all happy with the Republican budget right now. For all the power everyone gives to Trump, he does not seem to be at all able to influence congress to NOT spending more money that we do not have. I would expect both Trump and Musk to be as pissed about the senate budget as you are, but I have not heard any comments from either of them yet.

During my own life whenever I lost my job to a plant closing the standard rhetoric from Chamber of Commerce and Democrats was that "No worry's, you have been freed up to find work elsewhere!". Biden said union auto workers from closed plants "should become software programmers!"

With that in mind, whats wrong with laid off federal employees finding jobs in the private industry like everyone else? Or starting their own small business? That way they are actually making products that other people can use and still earning their same paycheck to spend on the economy. Doesn't it seem more efficient for those workers to be spending their time improving your life rather than just re-spending your tax money that you could have went out and bought goods with? After all, the Chamber of Commerce and Democrats have said its no problem to re-train (after 30 years at the same job) or move across the country.

Just asking.

It’s cute you think Trump is against deficit spending.

Many of the laid off or prospective laid off employees do productive work that improve lives which will not happen with those layoffs.

I don't know. I'm fine with them inspecting the food supply, ensuring cars are safe, bridges are built to spec, runways have lights, farmers are helped with maximizing yields, waterways are dredged, sailing vessels have an emergency service. Oh lots of things. Will we still have all this? Probably, just much less of it. One thing that's likely to go to shit is data collection. So we'll never know how badly Trump fucked all of this up.

What’s wrong is that Trump is intentionally destroying the economy. It’s going to be impossible for most of them to find work.
Maybe they’ll pick lettuce, since all the lettuce pickers will be cooling their heels in Panama.

And they will be hired back again. First they cut until it does not run and then they bring back only what it takes to be efficient. It is always the standard way they do it.

No one wants to work hard or lose their job which is why management always lies about how much staff they really need.

Most people think that "ten xillion" is the approximately the same big number, regardless of whether x=tr, b, or m.

"$billion" "$trillion" and "$million" are all just synonyms for "$shitloads", to people who are likely never going to see that amount of money in one place.
