Yeah, the flame retardant to put out the sun would be pricey. Water would just evaporate in the vacuum of space. But maybe the question is "Why hasn't that prick Newsom developed a way to put out the sun?!"

Not only that, but there's literally nothing you could dump on the sun to put out the fire.

You could smack it with a neutron star so hard that it would blow it to smithereens, which would lack the mass to sustain fusion.

However, in another way you are right. If the neutron star is close enough to the critical mass it might go down the rabbit hole and suck the sun in with it. If you want to blow it to smithereens you'll need a white dwarf very close to the limit, suck up enough that it goes supernova.

You're probably right, unless the neutron star was moving slowly enough to suck up a bunch of plasma from the sun's core. But the plasma ball at the sun's core is something like 85 thousand miles in diameter, whereas a neutron star is only like, 20 (?) miles... real small anyway.

My city council has passed a regressive anti-homelessness ordinance, now among the strictest in the country as it not only criminalizes tent camping by the homeless and authorizes the theft of all of their personal property by the state, but further criminalizes anyone who "aids and abets" a homeless person in any way. They were already regularly raiding the encampments, but emboldened by the new ordinance, the police really stepped things up this week, as torrential rain fell.

The result? I shit you not, this place has never looked more like the rhetorical "Open Air Psych Ward" we so often see alleged in this thread. There was, of course, no plan for how to help the people who were living in the encampments, so now they are just wandering around town like zombies, and a lot of them are very, VERY angry. I saw a guy yesterday arguing with his reflection in the mirror of my local coffeeshop. Two days ago, a guy was assaulted in front of the county courthouse by a guy who was screaming at him about racism, then took it to blows when his target went for a cell phone.

This Nazi-pandering shit has got to stop. When are people going to get that context-blind authoritarian solutions, while emotionally satisfying, are as impractical as they are immoral? We are obviously not better off by any metric because our new slumlord mayor wanted to stage a show of force. Things are demonstrably worse than they were a month ago, in every observable respect.

Wife identified as suspect in stabbing death of Cal Fire captain in San Diego County

RAMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities have identified the suspect in the stabbing death of a Cal Fire captain in San Diego County.

According to the sheriff's office, 53-year-old Yolanda Marodi, also known as Yolanda Olenjniczak, is wanted in connection with the death of Rebecca "Becky" Marodi.

The suspect, who was married to Marodi for about two years, was sentenced in 2004 to 11 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for fatally stabbing her then-husband, sources told ABC News. Olenjniczak served her time and was released.

Authorities said Olenjniczak remains at large. Her whereabouts are unknown, but she may have fled to Mexico, sources say.
