Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Internal White House document details layoff plans across U.S. agencies

Federal officials are preparing for agencies to cut between 8 and 50 percent of their employees in the first phase of a Trump administration push to shrink the federal government, according to an internal White House document obtained by The Washington Post that contains closely held draft plans for reshaping the 2.3-million-person bureaucracy.

The details are compiled from plans that President Donald Trump ordered agencies to submit, according to two people familiar with the document, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about it. The numbers, which have not been released to the public, show what could be next for the efforts that Trump says will make government more accountable, but have also upended agency functions and triggered restraining orders from the courts.

The document covers 22 agencies and doesn’t have information in some categories. Several people familiar with the document stressed that planning remains fluid and that the numbers do not necessarily reflect what agencies will ultimately cut.

75% of US scientists who answered Nature poll consider leaving

More than 1,600 readers answered our poll; many said they were looking for jobs in Europe and Canada.

The great American brain drain begins. Similar like what happened in German universities when the Nazis came to power.

The beginnings of "like treatment" for the US stealing all those Nazi scientists after WWII?

Stanley from Yale to Toronto
Jason Stanley (philosophy of language, epistemology, political philosophy), Professor of Philosophy at Yale University, has accepted a senior offer from the University of Toronto, where he will be three-quarters in the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and one-quarter in the Department of Philosophy. Professor Stanley tells me the primary reason was the deteriorating political situation in the United States, with the capitulation of Columbia University sealing his decision. (The well-known Yale historian Timothy Snyder has already moved to the Munk School as well.)

Anyone going to the protests April 5th? Thinking about having the attachment made into a poster. $16.50 At Staples.
Definitely going to the protests on April 1st.
I am in a personal quandary because I have family members who are in…..vulnerable positions and I am concerned that if I pop up on someone’s radar then so might they.

I hate and detest that this is making me consider curtailing my political activities but it definitely is. I’m not concerned for myself but there are people I am concerned for.

As it is, my kids have all left FB and I am only there for sharing political info. I have a deliberately very small group of ‘friends’ but many of them are more outspoken this time around. And we keep each other going, share info, etc.

It sucks to all of a sudden live in a fascist country.

I keep a photo of my passport on my phone but will still protest. I don't have any family members who are in a vulnerable situation.

The "American people", goaded along by Putin's propaganda and that of several billionaires, have turned the country over to a malignant narcissist. He and his cronies are dismantling the government like a team of unschooled 5th-grade bullies on drugs.

Putin and the billionaires are not unschooled bullies of course. For them the sabotage is deliberate. A dystopia which they control is better than utopis they don't control. Pity the smart Republicans who love their country but do not want to put their family in danger by protesting. And 50% of the American masses still say they approve of their fascist Brat-in-Chief.

So .. Leon cozied up to Trump because he saw the handwriting on the wall, and it spelled BYD.
The Chinese automaker has overtaken Tesla as world's largest auto maker since 2023, and they are deploying a charging system that is next level from what Teslas were designed for. He NEEDED Trump to put a million billionXillion percent tariff on Chinese batteries and cars. Everything else is just Leon random running around breaking things that don't belong to him, as requested by Trump.

The Independent

The Super E-Platform offers a range of up to 400 kilometres (249 miles) from just five minutes of charging thanks to 1,000 kilowatt charge speeds. Most Tesla Supercharger stations have an output of 250kW or less.

“The new charging performance blows the competition out the water,” Ryan Fisher, head of charging infrastructure research at BloombergNEF (BNEF), told The Independent. “It’s three to four times the charging power Tesla's can consume, and the vehicles will be similarly priced in China as the Model Y.”

Sad as hell.
This is why Trump and other monsters like to threaten families of people who pose a threat to his monarchy.

Mr chaos, Mr idiot

The orange turd continues to screw around with allies, business, workers, consumers, everyone who has a stake in the economy

Top White House and administration officials have been promising businesses, consumers and fellow Republicans more “certainty” on trade in the coming days, eager to calm skittish markets and avoid the stock market plunge that accompanied the White House’s initial tariff roll-outs.

But they have one problem: Donald J. Trump.

...

“No one knows what the fuck is going on,” said one White House ally close to Trump’s inner circle, granted anonymity to speak freely. “What are they going to tariff? Who are they gonna tariff and at what rates? Like, the very basic questions haven’t been answered yet.”

...

Indeed, while the White House is projecting confidence publicly, multiple administration officials, as well as top allies on the outside, are privately concerned that next week’s roll-out could be as rocky as when he imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China on March 4, worsening a rout on stocks that began in mid-February. Though the S&P 500 has since regained some ground, all of its previous gains since Election Day have been erased.

...

But behind the scenes there’s an uneasy feeling as even people close to the president hold their breath for “Liberation Day.” After all, Trump — who once dubbed tariffs “the most beautiful word in the dictionary” — continues to double down on his desire to punish nations who he believes have cheated the U.S.

“I think it would be a mistake to think next week all of a sudden we’re going to get a bunch of clarity,” said Tom Graff, chief investment officer at financial advisory firm Facet. “I’m sure they’re trying to reset with financial markets and build some certainty, but I don’t think the president is going to have a personality transplant.”

The Turd definitely needs a personality transplant
