With gun violence in the news of another Anglophonic country, it seemed good to mention the latest news about Kyle Rittenhouse.
Why? We have had dedicated threads about his self-defense case.
Btw, are you in some kind of competition trying to get as many things wrong as possible?
Kyle IIRC was a teenager given a semi-automatic rifle for his 16th(?) birthday,
No, he wasn't given the rifle; he bought it with COVID stimulus money.
And most firearms in use today are semi-auto. I fail to see why that is significant.
and traveled to a protest far from his home
Three things wrong in nine words. Not bad, but I bet you could do even better.
He did not travel to a protest - he was already in Kenosha staying with a friend when the riots (not protests!) in Kenosha broke out. Third, he did not live far from Kenosha - it's mere 20 miles to Antioch, IL. Your boy Anthony Huber travelled a longer way to riot in Kenosha.
to "help protect businesses from looting."
Yes, he was trying to protect businesses. He also cleaned off graffiti after the first night of Kenosha riots.
Kyle cowardly shot three men, two of them died.
Back to falsehoods, I see. It's not "cowardly" to defend yourself when attacked.
Rosenbaum, a convicted pedophile child abuser btw., attacked Ritt and tried to take his firearm. Anthony Huber hit Ritt with a skateboard, and Grosskreutz raised his firearm to shoot Ritt.
The two dead men were unarmed when Rittenhouse shot them.
Only the pedophile (11 year olds, dude!) was unarmed. Huber hit Ritt on the head with his skateboard. Since he used it as a weapon, he was armed.
And Grosskreutz (now called Prediger) had a semi-automatic (see you see firearm action as so noteworthy) handgun.
While most rational Americans thought Kyle should have just stayed home rather than taking his rifle to a scene of potential violence,
I do not think anybody here disagrees with that. Of course Ritt should have stayed home. But once there, and once attacked, he had the right to defend himself. Rosenbaum, Huber und Grosskreutz should have stayed
daheim as well, btw. And same goes for the rest of the #BLM/Antifa rioters who smashed things and set them on fire in Kenosha.
Trumpists and their ilk tend to regard Rittenhouse as a hero. He's getting rich, and may run for political office when he's old enough.
He may not be a hero, but he is certainly not the villain that the Left sees him as.
One Infidel seems happy to support Rittenhouse:
I assume you mean me? I think he had a right to defend himself. Is that support?
I also think that him being villainized is driving him toward the far right, and that a more sane response from the Left could have prevented that.
It appears that the shooter went onto the victim's property seeking trouble. If that is all, stand your ground certainly would not apply. Either there is more to the story, or Ritt is totally off-base here.
Still does not mean that he wasn't lawfully defending himself back in 2020.
