Fraud in Minnesomalia

Apparently, CEO of MyPillow, fascist collaborator, and retired crack addict Mike Lindell is going to run for governor of Minnesota.

So, now, we can see why this story directed at Walz has developed.
If it started or continued on his (Walz) watch and he did nothing about it then he should except the brickbats.
It did start under his administration. But his administration alerted the FBI, so they did do something. Just not enough.
So he must accept responsibility then.
He should, including the responsibility for discovering it and alerting the FBI. Whether he “must” is a different matter.

FMG is not practiced by the Somali diaspora in Minnesota. Many girls and women were subjected to this barbaric practice in Somalia and are receiving treatment in the US.
If that were true there wouldn’t be laws against it and there wouldn’t be extensive support services for victims of it.
The support services exist because most girls were forced to undergo this as young children, prior to immigration.

The law is to ensure no one reverts to the old barbaric custom.

Hiding behind pedantry fools no one.
Unlike you, I am not trying to fool anybody. And the distinction I am making is not pedantic either.

The issue is that Somalia has a culture incompatible with the West. Vast majority of the population are Islamists.
Mass migration from places like that (same goes for, say, Afghanistan more recently) allows for no sufficient vetting and you let a lot of people in who have no business immigrating into the West.

Does that mean all Somalis are incompatible with western culture? Of course not! That would be bigoted (still not racist though) because it generalizes. But our immigration system as it has been run for decades has been letting in a lot of Islamists, criminals and other incompatible mass migrants.
We need to be more selective when it comes to immigration.
How is Somali culture ‘incompatible with the West?’ I’m sincerely interested.
FGM
Ayaan Hirsi ALI talks of FGM in Somalia extensively. I suspect that her knowledge of the practice far exceeded yours and mine combined.
Circumcision is part of Jewish culture. Do you think Jewish culture is “incompatible with the West”?

Or is your point there are aspects of Somali culture that are incompatible with the West?
I was responding to Toni's comment about "How is Somali culture with the West?"
Merely gave her an example of a cultural incompatibility. That particular aspect of culture us most certainly not compatible with the West.
There might be others that are not yet mentioned.
Another major diaspora that found a home in Minnesota are the Hmong peoples, for whom extremely young marriage—as young as 12, of girls was the custom. Over the years, this custom has evolved so that most Hmong wait to complete their education to marry.

Child marriage ( marriage under age 18) is legal in 34 states in the US and is tolerated so that young girls who become pregnant will not have illegitimate children, because some religions favor early marriage and notably to allow predators legal access to their preferred victims.

In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report compiled with data from 2010-2013. The CDC report estimated 513,000 girls and women in the United States were either victims of FGM or at risk of FGM, with a third under age 18. The marked increase in the number of girls and women at risk of FGM in the United States was attributed to an increase in the total number of immigrants from countries where FGM is most common, not an increase in the frequency of the practice. Of the women at risk, 60% are from 8 states: California, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. Additionally, 40% of those reported are concentrated in 5 major metropolitan areas: New York, Washington, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Los Angeles, and Seattle. 55% of the women are from Egypt, Somalia, or Ethiopia. These three "sending countries" have a high prevalence of FGM, as well as high numbers of U.S. immigrants. The report used information from US census reports and the American Community Survey (2012) to identify the number of immigrants from countries where FGM is most prevalent.

The issue is FGM in the USA. Your citation doesn’t address. The CDC data does not indicate where the unfortunate victims were mutilated.

The United Nations estimates 200 million girls and women in more than 30 countries have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM).

Somalia has the highest rate in the world recorded by the United Nations, with about 98 percent the country's female population between the ages of 15 and 49 affected by FGM.

Although the procedure is illegal in the United States, many Somali natives now residing in the U.S. underwent FGM as young girls and still live with

Yes, most Somali born females were subjected to this barbaric practice. It is illegal in the US.

Sure, sure, nobody in the US ever does illegal things... Especially not culturally unassimilated groups for whom the illegal thing is extremely prevalent and religious in nature.

I'm 100% certain that if the US made circumcision illegal (which they should), then all of the jewish people in the US would immediately stop doing it and there'd never be another bris here again, ever.

FMG has no basis in any religion. Full stop.

The vast overwhelming majority of Somali Americans oppose fmg. As noted in an earlier post, other groups which immigrated to the US brought with them cultural practices that do not fit in with American culture. These practices fade within a generation or two.

And btw, it’s FGM, not fmg.

You have yet to produce on jot of evidence that FGM is practiced by the Somali diaspora in Mn or the US. Or that the Somali community is “unassimilated “. Without actual evidence to support your opinions, there is no reason for any reader to view them as accurate portrayals.

It also started and continued under Trump 1's administration and these are largely federal crimes and there were many other federal fraud crimes nation-wide. Was each governor responsible for each federal crime committed in their state during Trump 1's administration?
If they realise something was amiss and said or did nothing then yes they bear some responsibility for its continuance. Sometimes silence does mean consent.

If they realise something was amiss1 and said or did nothing2 then yes they bear some responsibility for its continuance. Sometimes silence does mean consent3.

1Failure to examine the system as a whole to seek out things that could be amiss is negligence. If, however, one is seeking out aberrations and does not observe it, that is not negligence. In the case of Trump administration, they failed the first part, failed to even find something amiss. That is negligence. It took someone in Minnesota administration to contact the FBI about the fraud potential, i.e. federal crimes, to trigger a federal administration into action. The crimes were begun under Trump 1's administration, meaning he completely was negligent in finding the federal fraud. Trump 1 also failed at identifying tons of other fraud nation-wide, not merely in this one state. Secondly, it was reported to the FBI when Biden was President--not Trump--and that is when the federal legal legwork began. Trump is now taking credit because the long legal process coming to convictions happened when he was coincidentally President, even though he did squat. Even if Kamala Harris were President the perpetrators would have been convicted because that is how long legal processes take.

2Saying or doing nothing is not what happened (allegedly). Even according to the anti-Walz narrative, the Walz administration observed aberrations. Aberrations do not necessarily mean fraud or even probable cause for fraud. So then they did do something afterward, they began investigations but after doing so the fraudsters are alleged to have taken legal action to protect themselves from the state such as sending threatening letters to cease and desist because they were being discriminated against. Because there was not any probable cause (and likely because there was not probable cause for a violation of __state__ crimes), they were stymied until someone in the office took action by contacting the FBI--the appropriate organization to investigate federal crimes, and create warrants for violations of those federal crimes.

3The only persons saying that the Walz administration wanted these people to get away with it (after having started an investigation and being legally threatened to cease and desist) are the lawyers for the defense who were trying to obfuscate the issues around their own clients' culpability. Their lawyers' statements were then turned by political partisans, MAGAs, and other conversative randos into facts, which they are not. So, when someone threatens you, it doesn't mean you have consented, and especially, if you still take measures unknown to them to try other avenues for them to stop, it also doesn't mean you have consented. It means the opposite. Anyone who claims it means consent is either completely duped by propaganda or engaging in it themselves.

I have never expected any candidate for office to look after the residents of the geographical district. Is that an Aussie thing?

In a Westminister parliamentary system lower house candidates are elected to an electorate (seat) which is geographically based. They looked after firstly those who elected them. But it is expected that anyone even from an another seat came to see them they would take them seriously and investigate. It might mean informing their local member or taking it further.

And note that earlier you claimed that FGM (not "fmg") does not occur in the US at all.
As noted in an earlier post, other groups which immigrated to the US brought with them cultural practices that do not fit in with American culture. These practices fade within a generation or two.
That is not a law of nature. It depends how dissimilar the host and migrant culture are, and also on the volume of migration.
The more dissimilar, and more migrants come, the more likely it is that they establish parallel societies rather than fully integrating.
