Yet another war, this time with Iran

Trump has said, “this isn’t boring. I’m not bored at all.” And, “It’s very exciting!”

This is the president of the United States talking about lethal war, like a toddler gushing over a bauble.

How pathetic.

How pathetic that America, this confederacy of dunces, voted this monster back into office, especially after he tried to overthrow the government and became a convicted felon.

Unbelievable.

I suspect that in the end, ground troops are the only way to achieve any objective of stopping their nuclear ambitions or achieving regime change.
Are those the objectives? Because it’s not clear what the objectives are based solely on what the administration officials, including the President, are saying.

Well, at this point again, is it Trump, or all the people around Trump (possibly including him too, though) with their hands on his Truth Social account?

It would be very effective if someone like say Hegseth wanted to stoke outrage against Trump to misdirect from the fact that this seems like something Hegseth wanted more than anything else, and it feels like how Hegseth sees this war I think?

Trump stopped being Trump and started being "The Face of Trump™"

Trump says the US is already "substantially ahead" of its time projections. He says they projected four-five weeks at the beginning, but adds they have "capability to go far longer".
The meaningless drivel just evacuates his mouth like loose stool from an anus.
WTF are we "substantially ahead of"???

In no way does any of this make sense. I suppose that goes without saying though as do useless questions that will never be answered, but what the hell:

Q: What's the strategic plan?

Q: What benefits does the U.S. hope to gain?

Q: Can you say in any concrete way how Iran was a threat to the U.S.?

Q: Why is this the right time to do this?

Q: What groups have you been in contact with that will replace the current regime, how will the new regime be implemented, and with what support from the United States?

A: because the Dow is at 50,000!

The above covers it all I suppose.
Answers to your 5 questions (in order)
1) The strategic plan is for Trump to make sure his nose stays firmly in place up Netanyahu's ass. Trump and congress are to make sure the US remains Netanyahu's puppet.

2) No benefits for the US. Only Israel.

3) Never a threat to US, only a threat to Israel

4) Netanyahu must have thought the timing was right in accordance to how Epstein pressure was playing out. But when all else fails they always take us to war.

5) Netanyahu hasn't told us yet. All we know at this time is that a tiny little country in the mideast about the size of New Jersey is in charge of the US population approximently 350 million people. We don't want to ask either because that would be anti-semitic.

Netanahyu sees an opening. He needs the war because he has an election coming up and he is personally very unpopular.

You voted for Trump. You enabled all of this which was easily foreseeable. The real question is whether voters like you reward the GOP in the midterms or vote for candidates that will prevent Trump from taking worse decisions. Personally, I not sanguine about that happening, because cultists be cultists. I mean, after all, stopping high school transgender athletes from competing is more important that starting unnecessary and endless wars.

The liberals have "Epstein", the anti-Semites have "Israel".

Seeing they are saying something different every five minutes tells me either they are clueless or there is a plan, but we ain't gonna like it.

Kommander Kegsbreath:

Well, good morning. I stand before you today with one unmistakable message about Operation Epic Fury: America is winning decisively, devastatingly and without mercy.
Yeah, I'm not really a big fan of the "without mercy" talk. Also, without mercy actually implies something else.
First, we are only four days into this. Metrics are shifting, dust is settling, and more forces are arriving. It's very early. And as President Trump has said, we will take all the time we need to make sure that we succeed.
I'd love to hear what is being gauged as success, as that is constantly changing, or maybe that was just the reasons for the attack.
And Iran will be able to do nothing about it. B-2s, B-52s, B-1s, Predator drones, fighters controlling the skies, picking targets, death and destruction from the sky all day long.
When claiming to have the moral high ground, "death and destruction from the sky all day long" really doesn't support the high ground case. It is like these people are getting hard over the destruction. Yes, Iran isn't exactly the nicest player in the game, but Hegseth is getting to excited about the killing. As a reminder, Iran's military is seperate from the Revolutionary Guard.

There could be political reasons for this, but I am willing to throw a bone to Netanyahu and be willing to consider that he made up his mind on 10/8 that this was going to happen. This latest salvo, is just another substantial step Israel has taken to target and destroy the forces that have targeted Israel. Gaza was an utter shit fest, but at least with Iran, Israel is taking out some rather large cogs. The obvious concern is that we don't seem to have a plan from here other than ~'Israel will kill anyone in charge it thinks is a threat to Israel', which is quite an escalation and abandoning of diplomacy.

Objectives? What are those?

This shit for brains we’ve elected is just farting out policies left and right. He’s easily swayed by whoever he last talked to. He listens to Natanyahu and MBS because they flatter him, and because they invest hundreds of millions of dollars in various Trump enterprises. We went to war so Jared Kushner could continue to earn outlandish sums of money from the Saudis.

That is the real objective and he has really achieved those goals.

Trump's regime is trying to make this war sound surgical and a piece of cake. We're in control, we're exerting lethal force at will, etc., etc. Incredible amounts of machismo and hubris -- Hegseth comes off like he's inhaling jet fuel.
Boots on the ground = insanity. When we invaded Iraq in '03, we took on a military with about 400,000 men, in a land mass of about 168,000 sq. mi. (California sized.) We of course needed more manpower than the initial force -- the surge. We had something like 170,000 personnel for the occupation. Iran is almost four times larger in area, with a military of about 600,000, with a maximum closer to a million if reservists are added in. No way to know right now if we would see their units surrendering, as was often the case with Saddam's army. Anyone want to take bets on that? We incinerated their holy leader and have proclaimed our power in a way that humiliates the Iranians. Given Trump's need for quick solutions, it doesn't seem likely that he'd try to launch a ground invasion. Go back to late 2016, when he reportedly asked his defense team, in his basic intelligence briefings, why we have nukes if we don't use them.

Trump is trying to get the Kurds to become cannon fodder. Will they remember his betrayal of Syrian Kurds? How will Iraq feel about Trump promising to give a portion of Iran to the Iranian Kurds?

Are the Kurds asking for this in writing? I can't imagine they'd go along with Trump. Trump promises "extensive air cover" which might not do as well with the bullets. Also, Northern Iran is in *checking my map*, yup the Northern part of Iran. Do we have the capacity to provide air cover without using Iraq bases?

As far as I can tell, the key strategic objective is to make everyone think America is a serious badass that will always win the day against any threat or slight, by the use of overwhelming force.

Roll end credits. <Stiring patriotic music>

In recent years, a number of comic books have been made into movies. Now Trump
wants to make to those movies into reality, by bringing together the powerful forces of US Military might, and the highly effective simpletonism of wishful thinking and superficial* morality tales about US supremacy.

* People criticise him for being superficial, but it has the word "super" right there at the beginning, so it must be the greatest thing ever.

Meanwhile in Sovereignty, the ship that the US sunk was in the Sri Lankan Exclusive Economic Zone. Not exactly on the water of Sri Lanka, but pushing boundaries, quite needlessly.

"Kill anyone who might be a threat, and whoever might be standing near them" is one hell of a foreign policy. If that is a legitimate state pursuit, what is terrorism?

It isn't terrorism, but it is more of a return to an older, much more inferior form of diplomacy that leads to war just becoming common again. Some nation has an interest, they see to it, those harmed react, lots of people die. Kind of going to back to the day where wrongs were righted, and they pretend that it was that simple.

There is a big shift going on right now. We see it with Russia, Trump's actions with Greenland, NATO, the western hemisphere, Netanyahu in the Middle East. They see this as the moment to strike. This is some very precarious nonsense!

Unless they replace our drones with horses and arm our soldiers with broadswords, there's no "back" to go to. There is no time machine here. When two nations go to war today, a broad region is rendered permanently uninhabitable. Usually, formerly good farmland. Even if human lives mean nothing you, how many countries can we as a human community afford to lose before our entire world system collapses under the weight?

When someone finally lands a bomb on US soil again and we suddenly don't have a downtown Chicago any more, all these Republicans and Democrats are all going to cry into their Cheerios like little whiny babies, about how genocide is wrong and nuclear weapons an unfathomable evil and terrorism a betrayal of the most basic of human values. But history will remember them for their deeds. When it was their choice to make, they chose blood for money.

I doubt there will be future historians to remember much of anything. Climate change or nuclear war, or both, will put paid to everything.

All this feels ominously like the on-ramp to World War III. I can easily see China finally deciding to invade Taiwan with the U.S. tied up in Iran in yet another futile war. The slaughter in both Gaza and Ukraine goes on.

It all seems so unnecessary. We do not have to throw this planet away. There are so many other choices. Why are we doing this?

Trump is doing it because it is “so exciting” and doesn’t “bore” him.

The concept (almost entirely among men) that might makes right.

Two guys are sitting at a bar. One says, "There were ten U.S. Presidents named George!" The other says, "No there weren't!"

Fight erupts. First guy clocks the other, who is down, blood gushing from his mouth.

This means the first guy is actually correct. The second guy "fucked around and found out". Huh huh huh. Back pats and another beer for the winner.

P.S: These are probably American guys.

We have a corrupt, sociopathic madman in the White House, a corrupt, biblically inspired terrorist running Israel, a corrupt, sociopathic Nazi in the Kremlin, and a corrupt, soulless technocrat leading China.

Does anyone think this is going to end well?
