Because it isn't enough to convict, at least the accusation. If additional information can be provided that helps demonstrate the case, that helps, but a lot of this is simply accusatory and the guys who are being accused will deny it. So much time has passed in these cases. There are no rape kits, no physical evidence. So you need to place this person with the accused, which could be possible. But then the defense is, it wasn't me who did it.

Think of it like getting a mob boss. There are crimes clearly being committed, but convicting on those crimes, particularly the up aboves, is ridiculously hard. You need someone to talk. With any luck, Prince Andrew will talk.

Yup. You need credible witnesses. Unfortunately, his victims tend not to be very credible--abusers select for whether they think someone would make a good witness against them. The reality is that there will always be people after a buck who will make false allegations against the rich, you need witnesses that do not look like them. You need witnesses that give testimony they couldn't get from the newspaper.

And, unfortunately, you have the same problem you have with the mob bosses--when you get the underling to testify against the boss there's always the suspicion that they're making things up to reduce their own punishment, either because they don't actually have useful evidence or they are too afraid to actually testify against their boss. Happens all too often with drug cases--the cops flip an underling, he flips his boss, boss has nobody they can flip so they make things up.

I'd say one of the biggest unaddressed crimes was the sweet deal in Florida that Epstein received. And if it weren't for the press, Miami Herald, we wouldn't even have this thread.

I'm thinking it was a deal done because they had a witness that either didn't want to testify or who would look bad on the stand. Pleas way below what the crime warrants may be corruption, or they may be a case that would likely be lost at trial.

Lieu said the Epstein files contained "highly disturbing allegations of Donald Trump raping children," but did not say there was video evidence.

I'll note, that's a very interesting framing there: no video evidence of Donald Trump himself raping a child.

They are careful, it seems, in not saying that there isn't video evidence of people raping children.

They are also careful in saying "video" and not "photographic" or "images".

I wonder why that is...

A bit late there. Regardless, it was definitely loose language by Lieu to use as well.

Which gets us back to the point of we, the public, and most of Congress, has no evidence of what is in the media that the DoJ has, specifically regarding who doing what with who.

All we seem to know, or think we know, is that Trump was big on releasing the docs and then all of a sudden wasn't, after an apparent discovery of his presence within them. And the continued covering up of info in the docs or the docs themselves .

I raised the same objection. Someone said Democrats saw the images and were reporting on them. Democrats have not seen the images and are not reporting them.

We know the Trump Admin is holding back on the release of information. However, it isn't like the Biden Admin was giving the info out for free either.

Democrats have not seen videos of Donald Trump. The noun used was videos. Videos are distinct from images in that a video is any set of images containing two or more images taken through the same lens during some smooth transform between positions within a "short" frame of time. The proper noun Donald Trump was used in an exclusive fashion.
 
I'm just going to repeat: be very careful with allegations and rumors. Some rumors are started by the right-wing to distract and discredit. That doesn't mean don't investigate it...but prioritize and focus.

Recall, it was always bad. He said he liked to grab women by the pussy without asking. He said his power over them as modeling company boss and judge made them let him do it. Adult/Young models came forward about it. He said he would walk in on them deliberately while they were naked so he could tell perverts what they looked like. He settled lawsuits with Lauren Petrella and Jill Harth about SEXUAL ASSAULTS.

Both mentioned in the Epstein files. Also Trump and Epstein partied looking at the adult young models...just the two men and them. Afterward is when one alleged sexual assault occurred that was settled.

More: Trump, Epstein, and Jean Luc Brunel all owned modeling agencies, calendar girl companies etc. This gave them access to grooming and back room nonconsensual behavior. All 3 had the same m.o.. Two allegedly suicided in prison. The third is the most powerful politician in the world and lies his ass off.

These are facts. Verifiable and some of it is in the files.

If it were a good faith Congress, start with this: subpoena Petrella and Harth. Ask about Epstein and Trump.

The big difference between the two administrations was that under Biden, the DOJ launched an inquiry into Maxwell's associates, and in the Trump Administration, Bondi shut down all investigations by July last year. I can understand why you wouldn't want to release too much information while a criminal investigation is underway; that could contaminate any possible criminal trial.

Both seem to indicate federal prosecutors from the southern district of NY asked to stop the investigation of the ranch. I don't know if they were being directed by Bill Barr to do so and if Barr was directed by Trump to do so.

The problem is there are so many fake photos and videos out there, that without someone who understands how to figure out if they are real or fake, we really can't trust what we see any more. For example, I had posted a link about AI generated fake videos regarding the war in Iran. The excellent reporters at the NYTimes were able to investigate and find the evidence that many of them were fake. A few months ago, there was an AI fake video of Racheal Maddow claiming that Trump was being arrested and my neighbor thought it was real. There have also been some of Doctor Gundry making false claims about a cure for Alzheimer's. That is the problem. The average person no longer knows what is real and what is fake due to fucking AI.
