Increasingly that is also true with Democrats, as their embrace of the likes of Platner and Piker shows. They do actually know, and do not care, who their allies are so long as they get what they want.

You forgot the initial plea deal had no jail time (credit for the one day in jail already served) which was rejected by the presiding judge. And that this creep does not have to register as a sex offender.Ken Paxton was looking good for the GOP prinary. Paxton'a office, possibly with his sign off likely ended his Senate run.

Protesters gather at courthouse over former Waco attorney’s plea deal
Protesters gathered on the steps of the McLennan County Courthouse Monday morning to express frustration over a plea deal for a former Waco attorney accused of sexually abusing his son’s friend.www.kwtx.com
OJ Simpson disease. These MAGA's think they are invincible. Or possibly they are just psychopaths.
That article does not go into detail of the case, but it links to an article that does.
This is the most salient part:
KWTX said:Hoffman’s trial on first-degree felony continuous sexual abuse of a young child charges ended in a mistrial in June 2025 after jurors deadlocked 7-5 in favor of finding him guilty.
So he was prosecuted for the 1st degree felony charge, but it resulted in a mistrial because the jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict. If there were only one or two holdouts, retrying on the same charge would be reasonable. But with the jury almost evenly split, I think a plea deal for a lesser charge is appropriate. Note also that prosecutors (as well as defense attorneys) interview jurors after the trial to see why they voted the way they did. So they have more information as to why five of them did not vote to convict, and how likely it would be to get 12 new jurors to vote to convict in a retrial.
Stuff like this happens in the criminal justice system all the time, and I do not see it as a sign of psychopathy or feeling invincible. They are just doing their jobs, which means knowing that sometimes offering a plea on a lesser charge is the way to go.
Presidents do not legislate. Despite current Congress’s cowardice in allowing Trump to “legislate” by fiat or executive order as they used to be called. Btw, I was not a fan of Obama issuing so many executive orders, either, both on principle and because I was certain that the next GOP POTUS would also do so and take it steps further. An instance in which I wish I had been wrong.I meant "Biden's peak" in the sense of a peak that happened during his term. And whatever the reason for it was, it contributed to the sense of malaise over the economy that plagued his presidency.Biden's peak? That peak was caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Of course, things could have been much worse. Had President Sanders, Warren or Harris been elected in 2020, fracking would have been banned and that would have made dealing with supply issues stemming from Russia's invasion 1000x more difficult to handle.
Maybe democracy does live on.article said:The White House Counsel’s Office is giving private briefings to the administration’s political appointees on how to best prepare for congressional oversight as staff begin to brace for the likelihood of significant Democratic victories in the November midterm elections, according to two people briefed on the topic.
The roughly 30-minute briefings have included a PowerPoint presentation about how congressional oversight works and best practices for handling it, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. Staff from the counsel’s office have encouraged political appointees to be careful about what they put in writing and provided guidance for how to respond to congressional inquiries in a timely manner, the people said.
Increasingly?! Fucking fuck man.Increasingly that is also true with Democrats, as their embrace of the likes of Platner and Piker shows. They do actually know, and do not care, who their allies are so long as they get what they want.
Hasan Piker is popular far left Twitch streamer, with no particular connection to the Democratic Party beyond occasionally endorsing Progressive candidates for Democratic offices. Also, who the heck Piker?

The right wing media landscape is obsessed with a small cast of characters whose careers they follow in microcosm, making them seem like significant political actors through name familiarity and frequency of mention. In fairness, Piker is by far the most popular political streamer on his platform, it's not as though he's a nobody exactly. But he is not a Democrat either, and regularly excoriates the Party for perceived failings. And the Party most certainly does not endorse Piker or any of his views, which are largely Marxist and anti-Zionist, and as such explicitly anti-Democrat.Where does Derec hear about these people, False Equivalence Weekly?Hasan Piker is popular far left Twitch streamer, with no particular connection to the Democratic Party beyond occasionally endorsing Progressive candidates for Democratic offices. Also, who the heck Piker?
Yes, they are increasingly embracing highly problematic allies like Hasan "US deserved 9/11" Piker and candidates like Graham "are we the baddies?" Platner. That is exactly what Politesse was talking about re Republicans, but these days it also applies to Democrats.Increasingly?! Fucking fuck man.Increasingly that is also true with Democrats, as their embrace of the likes of Platner and Piker shows. They do actually know, and do not care, who their allies are so long as they get what they want.
He may be a "newb", but he is right now the uncontested nominee for US Senate. And is a Nazi tattoo and praise of Hamas not bad enough for you?Platner is a newb in Maine. He is also isn't leading with "CRAZY".
I think you are missing a verb here. Also, who the heck Piker?
They do actually know, and do not care, who their allies are so long as they get what they want.
I do not know what rock you have been hiding behind not to hear about Hasan Piker's influence on fauxgressive Dems. He has been in the news a lot.Where does Derec hear about these people, False Equivalence Weekly?
Never heard of either. So certainly not in the main stream media I read .I do not know what rock you have been hiding behind not to hear about Hasan Piker's influence on fauxgressive Dems. He has been in the news a lot.Where does Derec hear about these people, False Equivalence Weekly?
Yeah, I see it more as a “whataboutism “.Derec said:Also, I fail to see how this is "false equivalence".
"The Party" is not a monolith. Many people in the Democratic Party and running in the Democratic primaries are embracing him.And the Party most certainly does not endorse Piker or any of his views, which are largely Marxist and anti-Zionist, and as such explicitly anti-Democrat.

Which media to you consume? There have been articles about him in many outlets across the political spectrum. Including NY Times and NPR among many others.Never heard of either. So certainly not in the main stream media I read .
That does not change the fact that they have influence over people, especially Gen Z and younger Millennials.I don't live under a rock either. I think for the most part influencers are morons.

If Hasan Piker didn't, El-Sayed would not be campaigning with him. If he didn't, all these Dem candidates would not be appearing on his stream.
