Merged Fauci Should Be In Prison - Senator Rand Paul

I personally think his extreme measures to fight a cold and advocating a lockdown of the country were criminal too, but that's more a "crime against humanity" instead of a "breaking a federal statute" criminality.
The stupidity displayed in this statement is stunning.

Not considering the source.

I don't know, I get frustrated by these arguments. I think that it's much ado about nothing. Just to summarize, yes Fauci told the Senate that the NIH did not directly fund gain-of-function research in Wuhan. If you read what he said exactly, his statements are accurate according to how the NIH defines gain of function research. However, if you read the comments from the senators seeking to shift emphasis away from fixing the economy and Iran, Senator Paul uses a broader definition of gain-of-function. And this is most brain cells that I'm going to waste on this topic.
Yes, he didn't directly do it. That doesn't mean he didn't do it at all.

Six year old news articles aren't easy to find, especially with his current testimony flooding the results, but he did say he didn't direct any funding while doing so, which is perjury. There is apparently dispute over whether it was banned or not, but even if it wasn't doing so with China can't be a good idea.

I personally think his extreme measures to fight a cold and advocating a lockdown of the country were criminal too, but that's more a "crime against humanity" instead of a "breaking a federal statute" criminality.

Extreme measures to fight a cold? There might be a grave misunderstanding there that is easy to remedy. According to a prominent University of Michigan study, the first early spring and summer lockdowns probably saved between 866,350 and 1,711,150 lives (study linked below). The study also noted that if the measures had been implemented 30 days earlier, than an additional 36,000 to 83,000 lives would have been saved. The study was published July 6, 2020. If you want to read the source material, please find it on that date in the National Library of Medicine.

I'm old enough to remember hospitals in the US had to make impromptu morgues because Trump wouldn't impose a lockdown like every other nation did during JH's "cold season". And it was the only western nation that had to do so during that time. Fauci didn't say anything different than what every other virologist around the world was saying. The main difference was that other countries listened to their medical experts, and the US didn't.

You're the one making ridiculously ignorant statements. YOU should back up your assertions with something resembling facts. And links to credible sources.

Yeah, everyone knows the mainstream media isn't credible ... if it disagrees with you.

Sweden.

Sweden is an entire country. Hard to compare due to all the variables. I think that a much better comparison is individual states in the US. States in the US mostly had their own unique shutdown strategy. Some practiced stronger covid prevention strategies than others. The top performing states (I define as fewest covid deaths) were Hawaii, New Hampshire and Maine. These states had higher vaccination rates, greater mask use, and stronger health system capacity. The lowest rated states (had the highest covid deaths) were Arizona and New Mexico. These states had lower vaccination uptake, less mask use, less enforcement of shutdowns, and etc.

You didn't like my earlier source. The above information came from The Lancet, 2023, April 22, 2023. It's a good read...

As I said back in 2022:

They worked here in Queensland, right up until the idiots in our federal government used exactly the argument you just presented, along with some specious arguments about vaccination levels (90% of eligible population isn't the same as 90% of population), to persuade the non-expert politicians running the states to abandon this highly successful strategy, that has kept the number of fatalities in our state to single digits.

Not single digits per day, per week, or per month. Single digits in total. In a population about that of South Carolina.

For every Queenslander who has died of Covid, 2,106 South Carolina residents have perished. Draconian lockdowns and mandatory mask wearing are the difference between these two sets of figures.

South Carolina population: 5.15million
Queensland population: 5.19million

Total South Carolina Covid deaths to 7 January 2022: 14,741
Total Queensland Covid deaths to 7 January 2022: 7

Queensland ended their lockdown at Christmas.

Between 8 January and 15 January, 22 Queenslanders died from Covid. That's more than three times as many in a week without lockdown as in two years with lockdown.

How much fucking clearer could the evidence be?

Sweden.
Well, the US response was between that of Sweden and Australia... and beat them both in deaths per capita (40% v Sweden, about 400% over Australia). The US had the 14th largest death rate per capita. Then there was the toll on the medical system across the country. ERs packed with patients. Incredible how little you can remember after less than 6 years. Of course, you seemed to struggle to actually understand what was happening at the time.

This is the dumbass that described in detail the plan to insert fake electors into the congressional elector vote count in 2020 to Ari Melbor. When Melbor responded that it would be an illegal coup, Dumbass said nope, perfectly legal.

If that's his level of legal knowledge Fauci will be just fine.

I can see a court case here, if Doctor Fauci sues. Especially if the Democrats win the mid-terms.

If you're famous, it's very hard to sue people that lie about you. You have to prove it was done with malice. Carol Burnette proved that impediment can be overcome cuz there's a sht-ton of malice out there towards Fauci.

Fuck you. I lost two cousins to this "cold". My co-worker lost BOTH fucking parents (she is in her early 20's), so you can fuck right off with your "just a cold' rhetoric. Maybe if the orange fuckface HAD issued a lockdown, many more people would be alive today.

Fauci isn't the reason one of my friends died and another friend's daughter (in her 20s) suffered a brain injury due to COVID-induced hypoxia. He isn't the reason my husband was in pain, gasping and wheezing as his body fought against the virus before the vaccine was available.

Fauci is the reason most people were aware of the danger posed by the virus and could take steps to reduce the chances of infection for themselves and their families despite the anti-science, anti-public health dumbassery Donald Trump and Fox News were promoting.
