Just about all of the studies that deal with comparing infidelity across different cultures and countries show this trend. Where do you think the reported rates of infidelity are highest? The West? Wrong! The highest rates are found in sub-saharan Africa, the poorest parts of Earth.
If you actually stop and think about it, it makes perfect sense. Men in poor societies face far fewer consequences when they get caught cheating. In the west, a man who gets caught might face an angry wife who sues him and takes away his children and half his wealth, which is something that can´t really happen in poorer countries. After all, in those countries, women just don´t have the same freedom to act that way. In many societies, muslim societies especially, they don´t even have the RIGHT to divorce their husbands except under very specific and rare circumstances. Even if they DO manage to get a divorce, the culture is such that the rest of society will forever look down on them for it. And as a result, she will have few options, after all, it is hard for women in those cultures to provide for themselves, and no other man will take them. So in those cultures, a woman who catches their husband cheating might feel she has no choice but to accept it. The man gets away with it more easily, so there´s less incentive to refrain from cheating.
This is even more true in societies where polygamy is considered acceptable, like is often the case in islamic societies. After all, when your culture already says that it is perfectly okay for a man to have more than one woman (but not okay for a woman to have more than one man), why even distinguish between a woman that is your wife and one that is not? It´s an easy jump to make.
But hey, if you want to pretend like western men are less faithful than islamic men, despite the facts and basic common sense telling us otherwise, go right ahead.
