So anyway... this whole "It was the Russians" seems to have legs... and there is a paper trail of the investigation going to well before the release of the emails!

In mid-June, Democratic Party suspicions about the hackers seemed to be confirmed when CrowdStrike, an outside security firm retained by the DNC, reported that it traced the hackers to two separate units linked to Russia’s security services: the FSB, Russia’s equivalent of the FBI, and GRU, the country’s military intelligence agency. The company noted strong similarities between the attack on the DNC by the suspected GRU hackers and previous cyberintrusions of unclassified systems at the White House, the State Department and the offices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. (After discovering the data breach, a DNC security source said its cyberexperts noted that the hackers’ exfiltration of files took place “9 to 5, Moscow time.”) An FBI official confirmed that the bureau has been investigating the breach for some time, and, according to one source familiar with the matter, Director James Comey has been personally briefed.

As I read the article I started thinking, this sounds like a potential Watergate parallel, and the article goes on to say that is what the DNC is saying. Manafort better have covered his tracks or this could destroy the Republican Party.

What kind of hackers clock in and out at 9am and 5pm? Wouldn't they instead try to target the DNC in off-hours, like 9pm to 5am but maybe closer to 12am-2am?

There is no logical or factual reason for your opinion about their relative abilities to instigate the start of a WW3. The best candidate to instigate WW3 by far is Vladimir Putin.

Unless they are brainless idiots (sadly too many are), they will vote for Hillary anyway, because this is meaningless pseudo-"scandal" with zero bearing on whether their interests are better served by a Dem president and a Dem nominating the next 3-4 SCOTUS justices versus Trump and the GOP being in control and of the executive branch and also of the highest court for next 40 years.

The very idea that either party should be neutral in who it nominates is absurd.

I found this rather disturbing, but not surprising. Political parties first and foremost exist to protect their own privilege, hence the existence of super delegates and such.

I'm not like some others that are accusing the Trump campaign of collusion with the Russians. I do think the Russians are manipulating our democratic process for their own benefit, in that they know that Trump's policies are more friendly to them than Clintons, and that Trump is so ignorant that he would be much easier to manipulate in the long run.

The DNC's behavior here is reprehensible though, considering the stakes are a Trump presidency. Normally, I would say let the repercussions of this fall as they may, but with a Trump presidency looming on the horizon, I still have to vote for Hillary. Shame on the DNC for putting me in this position, though.

The atheist baiting idea was talked about but nixed. The only actual rigging the DNC did to try to help Clinton was the stupid debate schedule, and that probably backfired.
