Conservatives who detest President Barack Obama and EPA clean air regulations are modifying their vehicles to purposefully spew black smoke into the atmosphere.

So-called “coal rollers” install smoke stacks and special equipment in their diesel trucks that makes the engine think that it needs more fuel, resulting in plumes of black smoke.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

These morons will end up paying much more in fuel costs and risk destroying their expensive to fix diesel engines just to say "screw you" to Obama.

And here is the solution.

A brief visit to a few "coal roller" web pages suggests these people are not particularly political in their motivations.

This has to be satire! Otherwise, these people are pretty much raising the bar on petty hyperpartisan stupidity.

Deliberately spewing black smoke on anyone they perceive as being 'liberal' is politically motivated no matter how much you don't want to see that elephant in the room.

Pretty stupid. They deliberately waste fuel, probably void their warranties and expose themselves to unnecessary particulate pollution just to annoy people. :banghead:

I wonder how they keep from being ticketed for emissions violations.
Unless the cops are Obama haters too...

To get a single stack on my truck—that’s my way of giving them the finger,” he added. “You want clean air and a tiny carbon footprint? Well, screw you.”
. What a fucking idiot

Why aren't these assholes ticketed? It would be dangerous to be stuck behind one of these jackasses just from a reduced visibility perspective.

I can't even find any humour in what these people are doing, and I fear I would be moved to violence or vandalism if I ever saw one of these jerks IRL

You're assuming a lot of these states have clean air emissions policy. The only state I lived in where I had to pass an emissions test of any kind was in Illinois. I have yet to live in a southern state that had one.

ETA: Looks like most states only enforce inspections in metro areas. I would guess most of these clowns wouldn't live in a metro area to save their lives, after all, if rural is good enough for Jeebus...

These people are the opposition. When they can't even agree that clean air is a good thing, just what are you supposed to do, other than give them a one month vacation in Downtown Beijing?

Probably don't need it due to the lack of industry. The Northeast/Midwest has a boatload of industry pumping out pollution.

Let them blow their "coal", it's not like this will catch on as a big thing.

Pollutant effects inherently cross state boundaries, which is why vehicle emissions should be Fed EPA controlled, and states should lose all Fed highway funding if they don't comply.

Can we get Obama to announce an initiative to ban auto-erotic asphyxiation?

I mean, at least they will only be affecting their own breathing with the protests, instead of everyone else. And it might just calm them down.

Hey. HEY. HEY! Let's not go overboard here or anything...cuz...FREEDOM.

Do they always spew black smoke or only when they see a prius?
Either way it's stupid, but if smoke is always on, they risk getting shot I think.

In my state, a driver can be ticketed for excessive smoke. If the smoke contributed to an accident, that would also fall upon the driver. I think this is most likely a satiric web piece that went off course. I'm surprised they didn't identify one of the drivers as "Mike Hunt." It happens all the time.
