I make a stir-fry which was absolutely delicious yesterday.

I did include a handful of mushrooms which the book described as 'edibility unknown'.

My tongue is numb today and I appear to have burped up my spleen.

You can live without a spleen, right?

In Harry's Game, Boromir tries to kill Han Solo's wife and daughter, but just causes a nasty accident. Boromir calls Han in the hospital to taunt him about the attack and about how much the terrorists know about Han's daughter. "Hear she lost her spleen. That makes it difficult to fight off infection, eh?"

THen Han goes on to kill Boromir on a boat, while the still-alive daughter is back on shore, hiding. So it may require regular treatments, but it's not fatal.
