Democrats 2020

More likely she wasn’t offered VP by Biden (yet) and has been holding the only card remaining to her—her endorsement—as leverage. There is still the question of what Zombie Sanders will do, so, as I noted elsewhere, her play is either to hold out for a Biden VP offer (or State), or decide to go with Sanders’ zombie offer of VP.

Now is the time for Zombie Sanders to try to get her on the ticket—as a last ditch effort to justify continuing. From her perspective, it wouldn’t matter that she went down with his sinking ship. It positions her—no matter what—for a POTUS run after 2020 among the younger voters who will be (at least) four years older and therefore an actual force to be reckoned with (instead of the extremely unstable/unreliable limp dicks that they have proven themselves to be when it comes to actually voting these days, at least compared to their numbers).

Bloomberg is donating the remaining funds in his campaign war chest (i.e. his wallet) to the Democratic Party to help organize campaigns in swing states. That's $18 million. Typically, that kind of cash would go back to donors, but since he's the donor, a loophole allows him to say he doesn't want it back.

I'm sure some R's will claim he's violating campaign law; unfortunately, the Federal Election Commission can't meet and provide guidance because they don't have a quorum, a result of SCROTUS not appointing anyone. LO freaking L.

Wait, do people really think that the results of the elections so far are indicative of people's policy preferences and not massive low-income voter suppression and an unprecedented public health emergency?
Ah, the predictable "it must be a conspiracy" reaction from a Bernie bro.

  • Bernie Sanders: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Pramila Jayapal, Marianne Williamson
  • Elizabeth Warren: Ayanna Pressley, Katie Porter, Deb Haaland, Julián Castro

I voted for Liz... and Katie Porter is my fav of all of the above. Interesting lists!

It can’t ever be him. He’s the messiah, therefore the San Hedrin feared his power to change everything—to take away their power—and conspired with Pilate to have him killed.

WTH is Warren waiting for? Endorse someone already!

Just like you, I think there's something missing here in understanding what is going on. Here is my take on it...

The primary isn't only about electoral politics of the Presidency.

There will be a democratic national convention. Delegates will be present. A nominee will be confirmed/verified/selected. A platform will be worked out, eventually.

Warren wants to see many more progressive delegates so that they have proportional representation in the Party along with their proportion in the DP electorate.

An endorsement of Biden sinks Bernie further.

Yea, it just reinforces one of my complaints about Bernie and Warren: they want to fight democrats rather than republicans. It's time to move forward. Time to start taking on Trump.

Good. It is time for the Democrats to concentrate on beating Trump.

Dragging this thing out just pisses of the moderates even more, to the point where they may tell Bernie to fuck off. Trump is doing so much damage to his chances that they may not need Sanders. You don't get far when everyone can see you're holding a pair of deuces.

Dementia riddled Biden (when I get to his current age I will likely also be) has not been out talking about the Covid-19 crisis.

He needs a youngish woman running mate (which he promised) who is a good speaker and respected for planning abilities. Klobuchar is the best option that I see.

Not quite. Biden plans shadow coronavirus briefings:

3/20/20

Joe Biden is planning a regular shadow briefing on coronavirus to start as early as Monday to show how he would handle the crisis and address what he calls the lies and failures of President Trump.

Biden gave a preview of what’s to come in a conference call with reporters Friday, where he listed a litany of false and misleading statements from Trump, who has been holding regular White House press conferences concerning coronavirus preparedness and response that have been broadcast live on all major networks.

“President Trump stop saying false things, will ya?” Biden said. “People are worried they are really frightened, when these things don't come through. He just exacerbates their concern. Stop saying false things you think make you sound like a hero and start putting the full weight of the federal government behind finding fast, safe and effective treatments.”

Biden made his comments from his home in Wilmington, Delaware, where he has been holed up for more than a week in adherence with Centers for Disease Control guidelines that urge people to practice social distancing.

Immediately after the initial onset of the crisis, Biden also held his fire against the president out of concern it would look too political — an accusation leveled at him anyway by Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, who said that “Biden will take attention from real updates Americans should know just to score political points.”

Ever since his commanding victories Tuesday against Bernie Sanders in Florida, Illinois and Arizona, Biden has made no public appearances or statements. Instead, he said, he has been spending time privately talking to health officials, businesses, governors and members of Congress.

Now, he said, his house is being outfitted with equipment that would enable him to livestream events, have interactive tele-press conferences and broadcast interviews with network television.

“I would like to get in the position and we're trying to work out so that the headquarters ... to be able to accommodate my directly answering questions in front of a press that's assigned to me,” he said. “We've hired a professional team to do that now. And excuse the expression that's a little above my pay grade to know how to do that."

If Klobuchar was announced as Biden's running mate today, she could give highly competent speeches and reports about this. No fucking way Biden can.

You obviously missed Biden's excellent speech about how the pandemic should be handled. Plus, he was far more coherent than Bernie was in the last debate. He does need to choose someone younger as a running mate, but it would be best to choose someone a bit more progressive than Amy K. I'd prefer a minority woman myself, but regardless of his pick, they will be far superior to Trump, speaking of someone who has obvious symptoms of cognitive impairment.

I'm wondering if here will even be any more primaries. More and more states are postponing them. What if the pandemic is much worse in May, June or July? What then?

Then we're screwed. That's one reason the current administration doesn't want to get out in front of the Trump Virus.
