The Virus - Are You Affected?

FUCK FUCK FUCK

Why can't teenagers think?

Two parallel issues.

Issue 1:

My 19.5 year old daughter got an idea to sell her paintings on eBay. She posted some piece of crap and got a $200 offer to buy it and pay with PayPal. My daughter believed it and gave the guy the link for supposedly paying her on Pay Pal. Shortly after we got a call for her from TD Bank's Fraud prevention department. 3 Minutes after we got a call that she wanted to borrow $500 which she would get back in order to finish this "sale". Jesus Christ.

Issue 2:

Without saying anything to us she walked down to CVS to get shipping supplies. No face mask. Went inside. Possibly exposing herself to coronavirus and getting Covid-19.

Now my wife has a pre-existing condition that makes her higher risk and she's almost 59 years old. I am also almost 59 years old. I don't know if I have a risky condition but I smoke cigars. My son of 17 is overweight and my mother who I have to visit from time to time at her assisted living is 85 years old. We have to quarantine my daughter. She needs to sleep in the tent in the back yard for her quarantine period! In Massachusetts it's not freezing cold any more but neither is it camping weather out there.

We know that the chances of her catching this is low but we can't risk the chance of my wife getting really sick or dying. We can't risk exposing my mom. I can't risk getting this thing and my son can't.

Where the fuck are the rapid and freely available test????

Where are the teenager brains?

I work in IT, and part of my job is to help the Danish police with tracking down Internet fraudsters. After the Coronavirus thing happened Internet fraud has gone through the roof. Fraudsters are more active now then they've been for years. Some old established and earlier dependable companies are faced with bankruptcy and have turned rouge. It's really bad now. There's ten times as many who lose their rights to their .dk domains as just a couple of months ago.

So right now it's important to be very careful. Hold onto your cash.

In related news. Denmark is opening up. Yesterday schools have re-opened, hairdressers, masseurs and hookers were allowed to go back to work. The Danish consensus is that it was the Swedish strategy that was the correct one, and now Denmark will align itself with Sweden. Germany is soon to follow.

Once they allowed the make-up industry to reopen, it was only a matter of time before they went rouge.

One thing that I really love about Denmark is that when they shut down Denmark, they have offered compensation to small business owners. This also included hookers. Very pragmatic. If the goal is to limit contagion of a disease the first obvious candidate would be to try to get hookers from working. And they won't do that unless they're getting compensated somehow. Denmark is so no-bullshit about stuff like this.

From 10/5 Denmark raises the number of people that can gether to 500. Which is the same number as Sweden has. Yay. I can't wait for the border to open again. I have lovers in Sweden I haven't met for over two months now

You think folk over 60 (especially over 80) have brain?
They have this sacred knowledge that garlic protects you from corona-virus and that's the end of it. They think quarantine is no reason to change their early routine of touring all the relatives tick infested graves.

How much testing and contact tracing have the Danish authorities been doing? That's what's worked in South Korea -- testing and contact tracing on a very massive scale.

Jebus!

Time for some reading for her.

That's in stark contrast to the US where most small business are getting nothing b/c large corporations conspired with banks to take all the emergency funds. Banks collected larger fees for processing the applications of larger companies, so they prioritized them, especially massive national and international hotel chains and restaurant chains.

It's very unfair that you'll have to limit your orgies to 500 people. :)

The Dead and Company have cancelled summer tour. I have 3 tickets each for both Fenway Park shows August 7 and 8. They will be refunded. I'm frankly glad the decision to take my two boys or not has been taken out of my hands.

He should go to Georgia. The Governor there is going to fuck over 10 million people.

We have Broadway season passes. I think we missed one show so far. I can’t think anything will play until August at the earliest. Have no idea how the refund will work. Hopefully they get a cut of the arts support.

They want us to re-up for next season and I’m having a hard time going with it. The shows also weren’t as enticing.

South Korea had prepared and could isolate people, as well as an ample supply of personal protective gear for health care workers. Sweden didn't have this. Which makes track and trace pretty much pointless.

Both Sweden and Denmark have stopped testing en masse. Not that they ever tested that many. But we do test our dead. So the Scandinavian numbers of, confirmed dead can be trusted.

Not affected here except for the usual making masks and taking precautions. I work from home and am kind of a hermit anyway, and still have to make at least one trip out each week. I miss going out once a month with my cousin and bff, though. We go book shopping, dollar store shopping, and tea or coffee somewhere. That and internet are really all the socializing I feel like I need.

I fully expect to contract the virus soon enough, though. I live with my brother who is considered essential at his job, which itself is not fucking essential  but if he can't pay the bills, we're both screwed. We both take all precautions and his employer provides masks and enforces the distancing guidelines, but I feel like it's only a matter of time with neither of us being able to stay 100% at home.

Also I now spend a lot more time on Nextdoor, which is nice because I've never really gotten involved in the community where I live now. I'm very proud of my neighborhood in our efforts to encourage and help each other, and occasionally bitchslap the trumpity dipshits who need to prove their redneck ideology is more important than people's lives, but the activity and messages have been overwhelmingly positive and supportive. Just seeing how truly kind and generous the vast majority of people are is good therapy at the very least. The local police are also involved in Nextdoor and constantly update us with coronavirus measures and training on dealing with social distancing and all that.

Consider maybe refusing the refund if offered and go ahead and pay for the next season so the actors and crew can get paid. If you can afford to do so, of course. I know I can't at the moment, but if I could, I'd prepay for a bunch of local business's services to help them get by and then redeem after the pandemic (or not).

I hate how the virus is around at the same time pollen season is here.

These are tours that come in to town for 4 to 6 weeks, so I have absolutely no idea how Playhouse Square deals with the money and when who is paid what. Obviously, they are hurting as there are no shows period, so a lot of revenue is drying up there.
