Defunding the Police?

So you trust that poll more than "the media"? Good to know in light of:

Right, if they don't feel that way locally, why do they feel that way nationally? What institution could be plying that propaganda?

The institution of paranoia.

I think it's really an issue of anonymity. If you don't know the community and if the community does not know you it doesn't make for a good working relationship of mutual trust and respect, same as any other working environment. The best thing a police officer can do wrt his community is get out of his police car.

Well, maybe. But am a bit skeptical that career criminals are interested in a “relationship of mutual trust and respect” with police.

How satisfied are you with your local police department (Very or somewhat satisfied/ Somewhat or very dissatisfied):

College educated whites: 73% / 9%
Non-college whites: 70% / 14%
Black: 72% / 17%
Hispanic/Asian: 68% / 18%

Monmouth poll

The media is garbage.

Sorry, but have you actually read the report you have cited?

Yes, and noted how different the perception is of one’s local police and viewed nationally.

But did you not notice the results regarding excessive force and racism?

The report as a whole does not paint a rosy picture at all.

Amazing. I took you off ignore earlier, just on a whim, just in case since the last time I read your posts you’d acquired anything remotely resembling a reasonable, sensible perspective, and you lasted literally all of 10 minutes and 3 posts, two in this thread and another I’ve just replied to in another thread.

Bye.

18 murders in 24 hours: Inside the most violent day in 60 years in Chicago

In a city with an international reputation for crime — where 900 murders per year were common in the early 1990s — it was the most violent weekend in Chicago’s modern history, stretching police resources that were already thin because of protests and looting.

“We’ve never seen anything like it, at all,” said Max Kapustin, the senior research director at the crime lab. “ ... I don’t even know how to put it into context. It’s beyond anything that we’ve ever seen before.”

The next highest murder total for a single day was on Aug. 4, 1991, when 13 people were killed in Chicago, according to the crime lab.

In fairness, I have to say that I still don’t think it’s anything more than a minority of police, that are problematic I mean.

I don’t believe the average policeman (or woman) is anything like a terrorist. In the USA.
Well, a lot of them are enablers of those "terrorists". The "blue wall of silence" is not a myth.

There is nothing about those results that is surprising. The same type of result pops up when people are asked about Congress and their representative: Congress is corrupt but their representative is great.

Wow 18 murders. In one day. Exceptional.
Yesterday more than twice that number of IL residents died from the Trump Virus. And that wasn't even exceptional; it happens almost every day but... murder! riots!!

I suppose some red, yellow and brown lives matter as well. Maybe even some white lives matter.
Which makes it worth emphasizing that not all black lives matter because... bigotry?

If there really was a concern about the high homicide rate of black people, it would be directed to what happens in Chicago or Baltimore. Instead, BLM is narrowly focused on the 0.000001 percent of deaths from police interaction.

Oh, noes. Consequences.

Manufacturer that burned as Minneapolis protests turned violent plans to relocate from city

A Minneapolis manufacturing company has decided to leave the city, with the company’s owner saying he can’t trust public officials who allowed his plant to burn during the recent riots. The move will cost the city about 50 jobs.

“They don’t care about my business,” said Kris Wyrobek, president and owner of 7-Sigma Inc., which has operated since 1987 at 2843 26th Av. in south Minneapolis. “They didn’t protect our people. We were all on our own.”

The views on local police aren’t even all that impressive. By far the majority of blacks ‘satisfied’ were only ‘somewhat satisfied’ and 44% said they or a family member had been harassed by police at some point.

Nor is any of that contradictory to also saying that there is racism and/or too much use of force by the police anyway.

There’s mining and then there’s scraping the barrel with your own half-baked theories.

And then there's shit like this: cops slashing tires.

Apparently they were ordered to do that.

The officers strategically deflated the tires to “stop behaviors such as vehicles driving dangerously and at high speeds in and around protesters and law enforcement,” said Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokesperson Bruce Gordon. The troopers reportedly targeted cars that “contained items used to cause harm during violent protests” such as rocks and concrete. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Knotz said deputies were following directions from the state-led Multiagency Command Center.

I guess you missed the question:

BTW, murder is not the only way to destroy a life, just the fastest.
