Oh, Matty. Have you been a naughty boy?

An odd thing occurred to me. At 40ish seconds he mentions that his father (a rich guy) received a text blackmailing him over "sex trafficking". That is an odd thing to be blackmailed over. Usually it is more of a 'you were caught screwing a minor, give me money'. If he was blackmailed over "sex trafficking", firstly, he must be guilty as all hell because sex trafficking requires certain aspects in a checklist... which isn't as obvious and would require the blackmailer to have documentation, not merely photos of him entering a hotel room with a minor. Secondly, it would also imply that it was an insider who was blackmailing him, as again, this is complicated and would need documentation which would require some level of investigation.

That said, what power would a former investigator have in this? Because if the investigation is on-going, a former investigator can't stop it.

It initially struck me as a scam artist sending threatening messages. A real investigator would text Gaetz. His father being older has more public records and phone number accessed more readily....
His father is much much wealthier. $25 million a lot of money that Matt Gaetz doesn't have, but his Father does.

Wow. I bet that elitist got the fake chin for his birthday one year.

Except these days "sex trafficking" is way overused, we don't know what it really means.
We know it means he was blackmailed by someone who knew there was more going on than just sex with a minor. Otherwise, he'd been blackmailed for 'sex with a minor'. That $25 million price tag seems crazy though. Gaetz's family is wealthy, but still $25 million?!

These days? Jack Johnson just turned over in his grave to laugh in your direction.

In the Tucker Carlson interview, Matt said that "providing for flights, and...um...hotel rooms for people that you're dating who are of legal age is not a crime..."

This seems to be an admission by Gaetz that he was dating the girl in question. Did he have sex with her? Did he fly her across state lines to somewhere that the age of consent is under 18?

That's apparently going to be settled in court, but at the end of the day, a 36 year old man was "dating" a 17 year old child. And he admits it.

Party of "family values" folks.

"Tell us what the truth is... from your perspective." :D

FYI, People usually don't go asking for $25 million to prevent lies from being told. They'd demand that sort of payoff to keep a truth hidden. Sounds like he was blackmailed after it was disclosed that he was putting his penis into underaged vagina(s).

Ding ding ding. We have a winner.

That's the problem with Gaetz's story. If he never had an underage girlfriend, nobody is going to demand a ridiculous amount like $25million, an oddly specific number. If he did have a 17 year old Lolita, it's still way more money than can be securely transferred and laundered. His version of the story, Gaetzgate1.0, simply doesn't pass the sniff test.

Now that it's out in the daylight, and if there is such a young woman, there's only several thousand people who have met her and have suddenly realized she is the subject of this story. She has friends who have just done the arithmetic and one(maybe many more) will be talking to reporters about Mystery Girl and her rich boyfriend. It's either going to fizzle, or melt down. It's only a matter of time before the woman appears in the flesh with her lawyer beside her.

It's a job for Michael Avenetti, who is out of prison at the moment, but he's not in the business anymore. He faces sentencing in a couple months after being convicted of trying to extort money from Nike, threatening to go public about payments to high school athletes. Strangely enough, the amount in question was $25million. Maybe that's the industry standard.

Kent also requested the Gaetz family’s help returning Levinson in exchange for giving Matt Gaetz credit for the operation and promising a presidential pardon for unnamed legal issues.
Umm... so is this a bogus letter from some third party scammer? How is Gaetz supposed to get someone released from Iran? How is a $25 million loan going to do anything?

That tale reads more like a Nigerian Prince scam than a shakedown. President Biden is going to give a guy that had sex with an underaged girl(s) a pardon... forget that we are talking about Gaetz. This tale is getting bizarre.

Watch this Rachel Maddow excerpt. It's mainly about Joel Greenberg, the criminal Tax Callector of Seminole County, whose bizarre criminal misdeeds seem like a caricature even by GOP standards. The last minute or two connect to Gaetz, a good friend of Greenberg who has also been charged with underage sex trafficking, one of many crimes Greenberg is charged with.

I've gotta say, Tucker Carlson looks more confused than normal in this totally 100% convincing interview:

Gaetz should have turned up drunk, it probably would have ended up better if he did.

You might need a bit of context:

Also, somewhere in his younger years Nestor was a congressional page at Gaetz's recommendation....

And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't "coming here from Cuba (legally, of course)" mean you just arrived from Cuba on a boat?

Matt Gaetz showed nude pics of women he said he slept with to GOP members of Congress: report

On Thursday, CNN reported new salacious details about the behavior of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who is separately under a Department of Justice sex trafficking investigation.

"Sources say Gaetz gained a reputation in Congress over his relationships with women, and even showed fellow lawmakers some nude photos of women he said he slept with," said anchor Wolf Blitzer. "Lauren Fox is on this part of the story. What are you learning about these photos?"

"We should be very clear from the top, this is a separate issue than the DOJ investigation that is ongoing right now," said Fox. "When Matt Gaetz was a new member of Congress, he earned a reputation quickly of being a close ally of former President Trump's. He liked to be in the limelight of the media. He also, according to multiple sources CNN spoke with, behind the scenes likes to show his colleagues photos and brag about sexual exploits he had with women."

Yup, definitely a trumper.
