The Great Hypocrisy of Right-Wingers Claiming ‘Cancel Culture’

We also know an old tactic by fascists is to send agitators and violent actors into valid protests to make the protestors look bad.

I don't necessarily agree with the tactics of antifa but the notion that they are more dangerous than the white supremacist movement is nonsense.

Did hell freeze over?

How can we manage to agree on something?!

You can thank the white supremacist movement for that. :)
At last, they're good for something. Kumbuyfucking yah

You should be more outraged when you agree with derec and trausti, but that happens pretty regularly.....

In this case I agree with the riught.

There is a consistent effort to eradicate aspects of culture demd politically incorrect.

Which culture would that be? Please be specific.

If a white guy opens a Mexican food restaurant he will be accused of 'cultural appropriation' and hounded.

Someone has never heard of Taco Bell. When "they" start closing down all the Taco Bell restaurants for cultural appropriation, I may concede your point.

This happened in Ca to two women who staed a food truck business selling Mexican food. Hounded out of business on social nedia.

There is no lack of food trucks selling tacos here in St. Louis, and I know not all of them are owned by Mexicans. My favorite (and the favorite of many at my former employer) is Seoul Taco. They had been going strong for years, at least until the pandemic, the owner is Korean, not Mexican, yet they have not been shut down for cultural appropriation. I suspect there is something more going on with the taco truck you mention.

The cultural tyranny has shifted form the right to the left.

No, it hasn't. Just go talk to Colin Kaepernick about that one. The right has just become ever more hypocritical about it. They started the whole damn thing, they have never stopped doing it, and now they are pissed that the blowback is starting to hit them. Well fuck them, people aren't tolerating their bullshit anymore, and that is a good thing. I will tell them to sit down and shut the fuck up if I damn well please, they have been telling me that for decades.

I remver the Smothers Brothers TV show and the censorship they faced over pollical commentary and humor. They had a censor on the set. They were hounded off the air.

Now it is the left enforcing pollical correctness in speech and action. If you say anything deemed offensive or insensitive you are off the air, look at recent TV events.

Todays media landscape in no way resembles that of the early '60s, when three corporations controlled everything you saw on TV, and were pressured by right-wingers to censor absolutely everything. Then it was possible to cancel the media presence of a show like the Smothers Brothers. That is no longer possible, yet the same people who would have cancelled the Smothers Brothers in the early 60s are the ones who are now complaining loudly on Fox News about being cancelled. Hint: when you can air your views on the largest cable news station in the country, you aren't being cancelled.

What right-wingers tried to cancel:
1. The Chicks
2. Colin Kaepernick
3. Nike
4. Ellen DeGeneres
5. Samantha Bee
6. Beyoncé
7. Target
8. Jane Fonda
9. The movie The Hunt
10. NASCAR
11. Keurig
12. Kathy Griffin
13. Gillette
14. James Gunn
15. French fries
16. Michelle Wolf
French fries were renamed "freedom fries" during the Iraq War, much like sauerkraut being renamed "liberty cabbage" in WWI.

And that list is all very recent. Why don't we keep it going?
17. Dungeons & Dragons
18. Heavy Metal music
19. Proctor & Gamble
20. The Smothers Brothers
21. Elvis' hips
22. Jim Morrison
23. Jimi Hendrix
24. Malcolm X

There seems to be an argument that if you need an ID to do various non-CIVIL-RIGHTS activities, then you should also need an ID to participate in things that are your CIVIL RIGHT.

Not sure why people think this is a valid argument.

This is a message that the liberal media, if there were one, would do well to amplify.

Hypocrisy is, if articulated clearly, something that conservatives dislike. But it must be clear and unmistakable, and declared very often.

Delta probably also requires ID for things like this

Relevance?

He's trying to make some kind of argument about voting restrictions. It isn't worth getting into in this thread.

Suffice it to say the only relevance to this thread at all is that the Trumplicans are now cancelling Delta, Coke, and also UPS for either being part of "The Absentee Ballot Conspiracy" or standing up to the racist restrictions being put in place.

Yup, it's a good old-fashioned conservative boycott. Screaming insane reasons to boycott out of one side of their mouths and screaming "look at the left cancel culture" out of the other side.
