• Welcome to the new Internet Infidels Discussion Board, formerly Talk Freethought.

How can Derek Chauvin expect a fair trial in Minneapolis?

Breathing is resisting.

I'd say the way this forum discusses this and sweeps the problems of this trial under the carpet proves Derec's point. No, Chauvin is not going to get a fair trial. It's impossible in this environment.
Your uninformed opinion is duly noted.

And more importantly, what is the alternative if a fair trial is impossible? Society cannot simply let alleged criminals go.

There isn't one. My only point when entering this and the other thread is that this trial is so politisized that its beyond fairness. Its not going to happen. Whatever the result will be more about public opinion than the facts of the case. I think it's weird how so many in this thread fail to see this.

Sometimes there's no way of getting a fair trial, no matter how hard we try. Sometimes we just have to accept that life isn't fair.

How will Chauvin being acquitted prove you right?

The trial is heavily politisized. Whatever the outcome will be heavily influenced by public opinion, no matter what it is

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaahhahaaaaaaaaaaaahhahahahahahaahhahahaahaha. If Charlamagne tha God was a member of this board, you'd get the donkey of the day.

The trial is heavily politisized*.

You mean the public perception of the trial. You know nothing about that actual trial.
You don't know what the jury has and has not seen, you don't know what instructions the judge gave them - you know NOTHING about how the verdict they eventually render will have been arrived at. You only know how YOU think it will be arrived at based on your own misinformed opinion about American judicial proceedings.

the outcome will be heavily influenced by public opinion

Praytell -
WHAT IS THE "PUBLIC OPINION" AND HOW DO YOU "KNOW" THAT?

In other words, you really have no point than to repeat your uninformed opinion.

.And his mancrush on Derek Chauvin.

I'm avoiding this thread generally. It's obvious that anyone who doesn't agree that Chauvin is a murderer, before the "fair trial" is going to be abused as much as the TFT staff will allow.

But that was a really low post Toni. Really low.

I'm sure you and your friends on TFT think it was hilarious, but I'm seeing it as

They will have their views disabused heavily because it is tantamount to saying "the sky is green", or "the earth is flat". The evidence does not support that claim, and this is a forum wherein those claims which are not supported by reality get ridiculed.

I joined this forum to be on the legacy of Internet Infidels, to Talk Freely about Rationalism. Pretending that it could be possible that the earth is flat in the presence of pictures from space, pretending that gods must be good in the presence of creator gods who are literally just shitty humans, and claims of innocence following a video where someone murdered someone for 9 minutes via strangulation on camera, all these things get ridicule and abuse*.

*(is it possible to actually abuse something that is itself an abuse?)

"It's obvious that anyone who doesn't agree that Chauvin is a murderer, before the "fair trial" is going to be abused as much as the TFT staff will allow." is an unsupported opinion. Nor have you defined why Toni's comment is a low blow.

There, I chewed your food for you. Now it is up to you to support your opinions.

Just read Z’s posts. It is apparent that he closely identifies with him, even though he thinks his face is puffy and he doesn’t work out enough.

FWIW, I wasn’t trying to be ‘funny.’ I honestly do not know which I find worse: over identifying with a cop who has a long history of excessive force complaints which carried into his other job as a bouncer or the very distorted and ignorance based view of the US judicial system but still insisting that he knows how things are going to go.

Yup. Exactly.

I should have kept my opinions to myself.
