LA County sheriff Alex Villanueva will not enforce the LA County vaccine mandate in his department;

The Los Angeles County sheriff says he will not enforce the county’s vaccine mandate in his agency.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who oversees the largest sheriff’s department in the country with roughly 18,000 employees, said Thursday in a Facebook Live event that he does not plan to carry out the county’s mandate, under which Los Angeles County employees had to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 1.

“I don’t want to be in a position to lose 5, 10% of my workforce overnight on a vaccine mandate,” the sheriff said.

I must say, I like the cut of Villanueva’s jib.

I'm other words, slaves who pay my salary get back to work if it kills you.
Or, let them eat cake.

Gay jokes aside...

Are you really OK with Sheriff's disregard for law? Doesn't seem like a good way to run a police office. Which other laws do you think Villanueva can ignore?
Tom

Prob'ly nothing major. Just the usual harrassment, profiling, planting evidence... stuff like that.
Nothing so deadly as this idiocy.

National Geographic Documentary about Fauci is coming out.

The conspiracy theorists are bragging about giving the trailer thumbs down on YouTube, or at least they are on some libertarian party group that popped up on my FB feed.

Well, LA has become a defacto dictatorship;

Los Angeles leaders on Wednesday approved one of the nation’s strictest vaccine mandates — a sweeping measure that requires the shots for everyone entering bars, restaurants, nail salons, gyms or even a Lakers game.
The City Council voted 11-2 in favor of the ordinance that will require proof of full vaccination for patrons and workers starting Nov. 4.

Is it a dictatorship to prohibit drunks from driving? Remember that remaining unvaccinated if one can be vaccinated is like drunk driving. You are putting others at extra risk from your own reckless behavior. Do you think that drunks should be allowed to drive drunk?

I'm a boomer. This all started in my lifetime with that damn Jonas Salk. Someday he will be seen in his true colors, as the founder of the Nanny State and the destroyer of our precious freedoms. If you listen good and close to Our Real President (45), you already know this. Fauci is just a Salkist clone, a termite really, taking away the freedom that WHO gave you????? That God gave you. Thank you. Thank you, sweet Jesus! I'm coming soon to be with you, and won't be no needle marks on me!!!!

Meanwhile, right winger Adam West (unvaccinated) has come down with Covid-19. Presently being treated with the usual right winger favored quack nostrums. He will die worm free.

Did you mean Allen West?

At any rate, I think Batman is dead.

 Adam West died in 2017. He had played Batman in the 1960's TV series.

Unvaxxed Allen West Has COVID Symptoms, Takes Unproven Meds
Right-winger Allen West has suspended in-person events for his Texas gubernatorial campaign because he developed COVID symptoms after his wife tested positive—a day after he spoke to a packed indoor crowd.

In a Saturday morning Twitter thread, the Trump-loving ex-congressman said he has not gotten the COVID vaccine but is “already taking Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin protocols”—two unproven drugs popular with the anti-vaxxer crowd.
Allen West on Twitter: "1/ After taking COVID and flu shots ..." / Twitter
1/ After taking COVID and flu shots, Angela West tested positive for COVID yesterday, Friday. Col. West is experiencing a low grade fever and light body aches. Out of concern for public health, Col. West is suspending in-person events until receiving an all-clear indication.

2/ Col. West will be available through virtual means to do events until his family's health issue is rectified.

He is already taking Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin protocols.

The West family thanks y'all for your prayers. "God's blessings and Texas First!"

3/ CLARIFICATION: In reading the comments, it appears there is some misunderstanding: Dr. Angela West received the vaccine. LTC West did not. LTC West has publicly stated he supports individual choice and this is reflected in his own family.

LA County sheriffs office is just an organized crime family. They even have a "political" unit that goes around harassing critics of the department.

None of you addressed this slipshod reporting so far.

Newspapers make typos. No one here made this a hill to die on...so...?

I will add part of preventing serious outbreaks of covid has also been about preventing full hospitals. If there were no policies and no vaccinations, that's where we'd have been. None of those deaths are measured, let alone the prevented deaths.

I think it's much more likely someone grabbed a number from the wrong line than made a typo. Is that famous blooper with the reporting on Columbia evidence NASA is hiding an alien stardrive?

(For those of you too young--CNN reported that the Columbia was going 18 times the speed of light when it should have said 18 times the speed of sound.)

I guess the world is a dictatorship. Vaccine mandates have been the norm for a long time. It's just this is a new one.

Sounds like good, common sense to me. If you are not going to be vaxxed, then you are free to stay away from public places where the rest of us want to live, be healthy, and not pick up any virus that we could spread to others. If that is "dictatorship", well, so be it. Do we really want to reach the million mark of deaths, which is now quite possible, as we're 70% there? Two million, is that acceptable? Do we want to jam up our hospitals with a mostly preventable epidemic? Tether our economy to a permanent condition of sluggishness? Look at that list again: bars, restaurants, nail salons, gyms, indoor sport events. Where I live, you can't smoke in those places. Cigarettes, no, but a killer virus, yes?
