2020 Election Results

And people want to claim this isn't a religious fundamentalist coup attempt.

Not that they said it... But...

Whenever I hear or see "for our god and country" or anything adjacent to it, I hear "for us to take away your access to your god (or power to abstain from public belief) and/or remove you from our country."

Meanwhile in Ohio (a state Trump won), local elections boards aren't able to discard the ballots from 2020.

article said:
Federal law requires local election officers to retain congressional and presidential election materials for 22 months after ballots are cast. Discarding the old records is routine for local boards of elections, which in many Ohio counties have limited space to warehouse documents and must make room for records from the 2022 midterm election.

However, before the Sept. 3 date when Ohio boards of election could start discarding 2020 presidential election records, they began to receive groups of identically worded public records requests from multiple email addresses that sought voluminous 2020 presidential election data. The requested materials include copies of all ballots, poll books, voting machine reports, and absentee ballot identification envelopes, among other records that would total thousands of documents. Election boards aren’t allowed to destroy records if requests for them are pending.

article said:
“The expense to the requester would be voluminous,” says Lane, who has asked the county’s legal counsel how to handle the requests. “They want a copy of all the ballots in 2020, used and unused, all notices and correspondences, all poll lists and poll records. Some of it, we don’t know what they are asking for.”
It just won't stop!
They used to complain about how much some Democrats couldn't get past Gore's loss.

They're still talking about Trump as if he's currently President. Which is not surprising because Trump still acts as if (issuing missives from his "Office of the 45th President" and what not), but these nutcases are missing a key feature of what's usually described as a "President in exile."

Namely, the whole "exile" part. There are numerous figures who claim to be the "official" leader of a country's government "in exile," but they usually don't live in the country where they purport to have been "elected," because of reasons that should be obvious. Trump's official residences are still all in America, and he has not fled the country to set up his "government in exile." Because he's not President anymore. He's just some guy. This is the same reason the military no longer follows his orders.

The document is so dowdy and formal it resembles the annual minutes of a society of tax accountants. Its index lists sections on “objectives” and “rules of engagement” and carries an “addendum” that provides recommendations for hotels and parking.

On the cover, two words give a clue to the notoriety of the group that produced it: “MAGA” and “WARNING”. That and the date: 5 January 2021, the day before the US Capitol attack.

What goes unsaid on the cover and is barely mentioned throughout the 23 pages is that this is the work of one of the most violent political gangs in America, the far-right street fighters told by Donald Trump to “stand back and stand by”: the Proud Boys.

The document, published by the Guardian for the first time, gives a very rare insight into the meticulous planning that goes into events staged by the far-right club.

The document was obtained from a Proud Boys member by the extremism reporter Andy Campbell as he researched his new book, We Are Proud Boys: How a Right-Wing Street Gang Ushered in a New Era of American Extremism. The book will be published on Tuesday. Campbell shared the document with the Guardian.

It is the absolute worst conspiracy theory in the history of conspiracy theories, because it is all in the open. None of it makes sense, all the predictions have been wrong... and these people have become so vested in it, they won't drop it. Usually there is an agenda out there, but this seems like a grass roots conspiracy theory that has gotten a life of its own, and regardless how stupid it is, how inconsistent it is, how repeatedly falsified it becomes... it seems to be growing.

We are effectively fucked as a representative democracy. As long as the other conservatives vote for their, I don't even know what to call them, we're done. We'll eventually just stop having elections that matter as the entire system becomes self-isolated with the help of the hyper partisan SCOTUS.

Meanwhile, more info comes out regarding the actions in Coffee County, a small county in Georgia that Trump won handily. BS continues to be exposed in Latham's previous testimony. Now she simply misrecalled what happened when third party people were inspecting election equipment in a grossly unusual manner which should have been easy to remember.

The worst part is this, and it keeps coming up...

SullivanStrickler believed it had been given proper authorization to make “forensic images,” or exact copies, of the election equipment in Coffee County, the company executive said in his deposition. In a statement to The Post, a lawyer for SullivanStrickler said the firm and its employees were witnesses in the grand jury investigation. “We will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement,” the lawyer wrote.
Effectively, because they allowed us to do it, it had to be legal. That is convenient. We can't be criminals, they let us do it.

And then she turns around and says she just let them in. These machines are now suspect and should be discarded and replaced.

From the article,
A Post examination found that elements of the account Latham gave in her deposition on the events of Jan. 6 and 7, 2021, appear to diverge from the footage and other evidence, including depositions and text messages.

"Appear to diverge" is quite the phrasing, when they have enough to just say she made false statements.

What I find ironic was that there were a number of folks around here crowing about violent gangs "ms-13" while ignoring the Proud Boys.

MS-13 was just another layer of DARVO, though: if it existed at all, it is dwarfed by domestic right wing threats.

Video implies presence, but not necessarily purpose, legally that is. This video outside of court is pretty damning and implicates her in some pretty nefarious actions.

ATLANTA — A key figure in the investigation into possible criminal interference in Georgia’s 2020 election did not appear as scheduled to testify before the Fulton County special purpose grand jury.

Sidney Powell, former attorney of former President Donald Trump, was scheduled to testify Thursday morning, but sources tell Channel 2 Action News that there may have been some confusion over the subpoena, and she apparently did not testify.

It is unclear if there will be legal repercussions from her failure to appear.

According to court records, the grand jury wants to ask Powell about her involvement in an incident that happened in South Georgia in January 2021.

Nothing newsworthy has happened in South Georgia since it was briefly occupied by Argentina during the Falklands War.

Georgia - there are several Georgias in the world. The US state, the Eurasian nation, the south Atlantic island, one of the Solomon Islands, a strait in British Columbia, Canada, and several towns and streets.

Denver Riggleman, a former Republican congressman, made the comment during an interview with CBS News' "60 Minutes" on Sunday. He said Meadows' texts showed a "roadmap" for how allies of former President Donald Trump were trying to overturn the election.

"It showed actually the evolution of the beginning arguments from alternate electors all the way through rally planning, all the way to day of," he said.

Host Bill Whitaker asked Riggleman to confirm his belief that Meadows' texts "provide irrefutable, time-stamped proof of a comprehensive plot at all levels of government to overturn the election."
It really really gets disturbing to continue to learn how much worse January 6th, 2021 actually was. And it appeared pretty bad to begin with. And it appears almost no one will pay for it. Which is why we will have an election stolen eventually by these fascist sociopaths.
