2026 Mid-Term Elections

tRump's plan is to create distrust of the voting process.
I read an AlterNet article that found that conservatives are more likely to distrust the system than liberals.

Which is so weird because Republicans win most elections. We're optimistic about 26 and 2028; however dems could get their asses beat again if we don't vote.

I wonder if the 'conservative' mistrust is more based on the current system iteration (as you call it) rather than what the system could actually be?
Location i.e. what country, may also be a factor.

They believe Trump's lies. Nothing more.

The alternative is of course that you believe the 'other side' and that everything would be just splendid if only that pesky Trump bloke would just croak it.

Do you really believe that?
That's a big bucketload of pixie dust.

Classic propaganda tactic. Repeat a lie over and over.

It is a distressing successful tactic.

Um, facts and reality are the “other side” of Trump’s lies about elections.

It's not the tactic Trump uses.

He gets others to tell his lies for him. It's the difference between someone who is dangerous and the crazy guy at the station with tinfoil around his head.

Both spellings are used. The etymology is interesting.

It is the fun way of saying it. Like a drunk trying real hard not to fuck it up.

That not the only alternative, though the fascist party would like us to think so.
In fact, things would unarguably be better if the Whitehouse wasn’t occupied by a lying rapist fraud who is cheating and lying every way possible in order to destroy American democracy for the benefit of himself and his family.
The amazing thing is how successfully the lying asshole has enlisted formerly honorable people to abase themselves by elevating Trump lies in the hope of material reward. Even the obvious fact that they will be unceremoniously kicked to the curb as soon as their usefulness wanes, is insufficient to deter people from indulging their greed. It’s a big challenge to maintain ANY faith in humanity while watching this shitshow unfold.

A mistake, I think.
Maine is a moderate state overall, which is why they keep electing Collins even if they are mostly voting for Democrats in Presidential elections, minus one congressional district.

Jackson seems to me like Platner, but with no charisma and less baggage. He still has some baggage, like the border blockade against Canadian loggers.

If I lived in Maine, I'd take most anyone over Collins. She has voted for what Trump wants about 95% of the time. She promised she would only run twice when she first becomes a Senator. That was in 1996. She won and has been in office since 1997. So, she's a liar too.

She may have been a moderate in the past, but she is now a Trumper, who has been in office far too long, just like many other members of Congress. So, let's get some young, more progressives or moderates in Congress. it's time for a change. If only we had term limits for Congress and SCOTUS and other judges, we'd be likely be in better shape.

Jackson represented Northern Maine in the Maine Senate. I think this is straddling the Forest and Liberals.

Look at Ohio. Term limits don't stop the rot.

They help though and I don't know much about Ohio's politics. If an asshole is elected but can't stay for more than 12 years, that's gotta help. If RBG, who I liked, had retired when Obama asked her to, we'd have one less asshole on the Supreme Court. And, maybe if Mitch hadn't been around so long, nobody would have stopped Obama from adding another decent member to SCOTUS. So, while term limits wouldn't solve all problems I think they would help solve some problems. When people stay in power for a long time, they often become corrupt. I said term limits would likely put us in better shape, not that they'd solve all problems. Anyway, that's my opinion.
