A day without stupid?

Just checking in. So, since the thread inception we have not to date, yet had a day without stupid have we? Damn. One would think just by sheer luck...
You are exaggerating. There have been several days without stupid during his Presidency. Probably single digits, but still... several days.
He may not make headlines, but I can't imagine that there's been a single day that, for example,
* Trump completed a full day's work
* Trump sat through an entire security briefing
* Trump's cabinet gave full and complete reports of their areas of responsibility without shading the truth towards Bonespur's expectations
* Trump's aides gave him everything that actually requires the President's signature with full disclosure
* Trump did not dispose of paperwork illegally
* Trump did not engage in at least one activity he either criticized Obama for doing, or threatened us all that Hillary would do if elected
* Trump did not abuse at least one prescription drug either by not having a prescription or it, or exceeding the prescribed dose, or having illegally obtained the prescription

...and so on.
Which is why the White House doesn't allow anything to record these sorts of things, so short of that ability to confirm these likely events did happen, we are stuck with the public record and his miserable Twitter account.

Again, the significance isn't the sharpie. It is that map is Thursday at 10 AM local time. He tweeted about the risk to Alabama on Sunday.

And the picture from the inauguration was before the inauguration. Attendance didn't come close to matching Obama's, but it wasn't as bad as shown in the image. I'm completely unclear on why there isn't an image during his inauguration from that vantage point.

So Trump won't drop it.

To defend his September 2 (Sunday) tweet, he posted an image yesterday of the original model tracks for Dorian... that is date Stamped August 28th (Wednesday). By Friday, the Hurricane was seemingly not headed towards the Gulf.

So Trump continues to defend himself by stating he was ignorant of the current or previous two days of forecasts on Dorian. Making one wonder why he'd bother tweeting about it at all.

Making one wonder why he'd bother tweeting about it at all.
He wanted to appear to give a shit about the voters in the storm's path.
In the aftermath, though, he clearly only cares about Trump, and about how the FAKE NEWS treats him...

I've heard that it doesn't matter what it is, as long as you're truly passionate about whatever you really care about.
And Trump is certainly that, about himself.

He's still obsessing about this today. Of all the things he's been wrong and corrected about, weird how this one sticks with him. It could be his new crowd size boast. In rallies, he will be bragging how great he is at predicting hurricane paths from now on.

This is one of those... "Gosh, I made a goof up, thanks to the NWS for correcting it." moments. Trump turns it into a gawd damned left-wing conspiracy.

Trump: Watch out Alabama!
Left-Wing: Huh... dumb ass.
Media: Trump falsely reports Alabama in path of Hurricane.
Trump: That's a damn lie! Here is a chart! *outdated*
*next day*
Left-wing: Is he still talking about that?
Trump: Here is another chart! *even more outdated*
*next day*
Left-wing: Can't he just drop this?!
Trump: FAKE NEWS MEDIA!!!!
Left-wing: *ritual suicide*

It gets worse.

After Fox News delivered a scathing report on the President's obvious inaccuracy, he personally called the reporter into the Oval Office to berate him and the network for daring to question his proclamation.

He's gone full dictator.

At what point does this man become President Queeg?
Commander Queeg said:
I suppose you're wondering why I called this meeting. As you all know we had an excellent dessert for dinner tonight: ice cream and frozen strawberries. About an hour ago, I sent Whittaker to the pantry to bring me another portion. He came back with the ice cream, all right, but he said: "Sir, there ain't no more strawberries." Now, Gentlemen, I do not believe that the officers of this ship consumed a full gallon of strawberries. I intend to prove it.

We can only hope he spends the rest of his term trying to retrofit reality to comport with his fantasies and fuckups.
It's the least harmful thing he does, so please - let him have at it.

Here was my take on Sharpiegate...
You are the president of the United States. You are the white house. For any given problem, you can supposedly summon experts for any given subject, and rightly so. The president calls for a press statement for the express purpose of showing that he was not wrong when he said Alabama was threatened by hurricane Dorian.
Summon a graphics artist. Summon a weather expert that can massage Trump's statement. In short, make that chart look authentic, and maybe, just maybe, you'll get away with your insane need not to be wrong.
Does this administration do this? Hell no. Someone takes a fucking BLACK sharpie and doctors the chart with all the subtlety of a child writing a parent's note in crayon in order to be excused from the gym or something.
So here's what I really think this whole thing is about. Yes, there's the trust issue. You should be able to trust your president at least to some degree. Yes, it's also about Trump's inability to admit when he's wrong, which can also have drastic consequences for the US. Of course, it's also about Trump doubling down on stupid, another negative trait to be sure. But more than anything it's about how Trump and this administration views the public, and ESPECIALLY their own voters. They obviously think all of us are incredibly, inexplicably, intricately STUPID. They thought they'd fool everyone - with a thick black sharpie that obviously doesn't match the rest of the chart. By a president that is known to scrawl everything from executive orders to his insanely stupid signature WITH A DAMN SHARPIE. THE SHARPIE WAS SITTING ON HIS DESK DURING the press event!
Now stop and think about that. How stupid do THEY have to be to think they could fool us with this?!

According to Trump, a lot of those who have left his Admin were losers, incompetent, idiots. So I'm not certain if that means when they left the average IQ of the Admin increased... or decreased.

Ultimately, the sharpie is a red herring. Trump could have asked legitimately about the hurricane's path during the briefing. And someone marked it up. The problem is that was on Thursday morning and he tweeted Sunday about Alabama. He was out of date by a months in meteorology standards... and he keeps saying 'Well, it was supposed to hit Alabama according to out-dated models.'

I think we are a just a couple days away from a notable physicist being brought in to explain in some alternate universe, Dorain impacted Alabama directly.

I'm seeing more and more reports like this...
https://www.businessinsider.com/tru...-mental-state-alabama-hurricane-dorian-2019-9

Often I take them as mere speculation, but the last few months especially I think we're seeing dementia onset. With someone of normal intelligence, the differences in ability and behavior would be more stark. With Trump, it's harder to notice, but I really think we have an idiot that is losing his mind due to disease. His behavior, his obsessions, his speech patterns and more and more common verbal pronunciation mistakes, his inability to find words, and so on.

Then I stop and think. What if he's physically healthy? That's almost worse. A man so stupid, childish, insecure, and unstable that many, many very reasonable people suspect disease. That's fucking scary.

Maybe this thread should be renamed "A Day Without Corruption"?

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/09/06/air-force-trump-scottish-retreat-1484337

In early Spring of this year, an Air National Guard crew made a routine trip from the U.S. to Kuwait to deliver supplies.

What wasn’t routine was where the crew stopped along the way: President Donald Trump’s Turnberry resort, about 50 miles outside Glasgow, Scotland.

Since April, the House Oversight Committee has been investigating why the crew on the C-17 military transport plane made the unusual stay — both en route to the Middle East and on the way back — at the luxury waterside resort, according to several people familiar with the incident. But they have yet to receive any answers from the Pentagon.

The inquiry is part of a broader, previously unreported probe into U.S. military expenditures at and around the Trump property in Scotland. According to a letter the panel sent to the Pentagon in June, the military has spent $11 million on fuel at the Prestwick Airport — the closest airport to Trump Turnberry — since October 2017, fuel that would be cheaper if purchased at a U.S. military base. The letter also cites a Guardian report that the airport provided cut-rate rooms and free rounds of golf at Turnberry for U.S. military members.

What a waste it is to lose one's mind, or not to have a mind is being very wasteful, how true that is.
