And now they pressured someone at NOAA to write up a press release, which no one was willing to put their name on apparently , throwing the national weather service under the bus, sparking condemnation from scientists and others.

Now the weather has been politicized, weakening trust in it.

Often I take them as mere speculation, but the last few months especially I think we're seeing dementia onset. With someone of normal intelligence, the differences in ability and behavior would be more stark. With Trump, it's harder to notice, but I really think we have an idiot that is losing his mind due to disease. His behavior, his obsessions, his speech patterns and more and more common verbal pronunciation mistakes, his inability to find words, and so on.

Then I stop and think. What if he's physically healthy? That's almost worse. A man so stupid, childish, insecure, and unstable that many, many very reasonable people suspect disease. That's fucking scary.

Donald Trump Has Never Explained a Mysterious $50 Million Loan. Is It Evidence of Tax Fraud?

Here’s what is publicly known about this mystery debt: On the personal financial disclosure forms that Trump must file each year as president, he has divulged that he owes “over $50 million” to a company called Chicago Unit Acquisition LLC. The forms note that this entity is fully owned by Trump. In other words, Trump owes a large chunk of money to a company he controls.

The disclosures state that this loan is connected to Trump’s hotel and tower in Chicago, and the forms reveal puzzling details about Chicago Unit Acquisition: It earns no revenue—suggesting that Trump was not paying interest or principal on the loan—and Trump assigns virtually no value to Chicago Unit Acquisition. Something doesn’t add up. Under basic accounting principles, a firm that is owed money and has no outstanding debt should be worth at least as much as it is owed. The loan has another odd feature: It is identified as a “springing” loan, a type of loan made to borrowers who are viewed as credit risks. Known sometimes as “bad boy” loans, these agreements allow the lender to impose harsh repayment terms if certain criteria aren’t met. These are not the type of loan terms that someone is likely to impose on himself.

The Trump Organization has consistently refused to answer questions about Chicago Unit Acquisition, a limited liability company it formed in Delaware in 2005, as construction began on the Trump International Hotel and Tower in downtown Chicago. But Trump did tell the New York Times in a 2016 interview that this debt represents a loan he repurchased from a group of lenders. “We don’t assess any value to it because we don’t care,” Trump said. “I have the mortgage. That is all there is. Very simple. I am the bank.” Jason Greenblatt, who was then the Trump Organization’s top lawyer, declined to explain to the Times the reason for the Chicago Unit Acquisition deal. “It’s really personal corporate trade secrets, if you will,” he said. “Neither newsworthy or frankly anybody’s business.”

The thing that blows my mind is that it was even considered in the first place.

Sure, we need to negotiate with the bad guys from time to time. We send an envoy to Qatar to meet with their envoy. Or our assistant to the undersecretary of obscurity establishes a back-channel communication with the deputy to the deputy of the foreign minister of Iran.

But if I recall my recent history, we have Taliban fighters still cooling their heels in Gitmo and every time an administration suggests maybe putting them into a super-max prison in the continental US, representatives on both sides freak the fuck out and say no.

If you can't allow a low-level Taliban fighter to set foot on US soil if that soil is a 23 hour a day cell outside of Denver, then what's the rationale for inviting their leaders to a nice meeting at a secluded retreat in Maryland?

We've reached peak stupid, folks. Please keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times.

In a way, it's good that they think such cartoonish behavior upsets anyone. If they can't be concerned about actual human beings or democracy, then at least they're busy doing something that isn't really harming anything by these delusional demonstrations.
 
Yeah, I should have noted this isn't "The Onion" or something I wrote. You can't make this up. It is just that stupid. It is like the Matt Bors comic about the 4chan racists laughing about how dumb liberals are for thinking they are racist because they were trying to convince people they were racist, but actually weren't.

The trouble is, it doesn't have to upset us in order to make her viewers think it does... reinforcing their willful ignorant view of their opponents. This is how dictatorships manage to get into power without majority control. I'm willing to bet the average Ingraham viewer has little understanding as to what a liberal or liberal/moderate actually believes.

I don't know exactly when it happened, but sometime in the last few years I apparently fell asleep and woke up in Bizarro World.
 
So the Orange Wonder is demanding the that fleeing residents from the Bahamas have proper documentation before they are allowed in the US - CNN is reporting. I really doubt they have anything left much less proper documentation. Now if they were white and wearing MAGA hats I'm sure they would be let right in.

It's worse than that. They aren't even letting them evacuate temporarily with a fucking passpost! Now they are having to apply for an actual visa in addition to having the passport. It's pure racist bullshit, and the INS and DOJ are going right along with it.

for a "world traveler", you are surprisingly confused. The stamp you get on your passport when you visit a foreign country IS your Visa. So "showing your passport" and "applying for a visa" is the same exact thing... unless you are claiming to be visiting for work-related purposes, or to stay permanently.. then that is of course a different story.
