Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Daniel W. Drezner on Twitter: "I believe it was @mattklewis who asked whether Americans should believe ICE sources or @AOC on the conditions at border facilities. It’s hard to look at these photos and not conclude in @AOC’s favor. https://t.co/VgCJgLq3Mw" / Twitter noting Photos Show Severe Overcrowding At Border Patrol Facilities In The Rio Grande Valley - "The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General published a report Tuesday on overcrowding at border facilities in the Rio Grande Valley."
"Senior managers at several facilities raised security concerns for their agents and the detainees,” the inspectors wrote. “For example, one called the situation a ‘ticking time bomb,’ and another said there was ‘fear of a revolt.’”
Complete with lots of pictures of the overcrowding.

Immigrant Children In Border Camps Locked In Dangerous Conditions, Inspectors Find - "Wet wipes used instead of showers, repeated bologna sandwiches causing constipation, and standing room only in cells were conditions described in a draft DHS report seen exclusively by BuzzFeed News."
When Department of Homeland Security inspectors visited several border facilities in the Rio Grande Valley earlier this month, they found adults and minors with no access to showers, many adults only fed bologna sandwiches, and detainees banging on cell windows — desperately pressing notes to the windows of their cells that detailed their time in custody.

The inspectors compiled a draft report, obtained by BuzzFeed News, that described the conditions as dangerous and prolonged. Some adults were held in standing room–only conditions for a week. There was little access to hot showers or hot food for families and children in some facilities. Some kids were being held in closed cells. There was severe overcrowding.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "The right is responding to what’s been exposed at the border by denying it & saying I’m lying. Hard to assert when the details I shared are corroborated by other members of Congress, court documents, migrant testimony, and now photos released today by the Inspector General. https://t.co/1JR8oSkk9X" / Twitter noting Salvador Hernandez on Twitter: "Fox News has been having continuous guests attacking @aoc and saying her claim that immigrants drinking out of the toilet are false. Only thing is 2 more members of congress reported the same thing, and immigrants in court have made similar claim https://t.co/Eyo852CNUz https://t.co/guHp4guzgR" / Twitter

AOC’s Detention-Camp Etiquette - "AOC Put a Spotlight on Migrant Detention Conditions. Conservative Media Focused on Her Manners." After noting the horrors in those camps,
Amid these accounts, there remains partisan disagreement over whether conditions at such facilities are indeed worthy of rebuke, and members of conservative media staked out their position by focusing on how Ocasio-Cortez behaved during her tour. The Washington Examiner’s Anna Giaritelli tweeted, “SCOOP: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., screamed at federal law enforcement agents ‘in a threatening manner’ during a visit to a U.S. Border Patrol facility in El Paso, Texas, Monday afternoon and refused to tour the facility, according to two people who witnessed it.”

... Yet accounts of Ocasio-Cortez losing her cool — false or devoid of context though they may be — are framed as scandalous and characterized as threats against the law officers who maintain those conditions. It is a familiar standard, echoing the same logic by which many critics oppose nonviolent protests against racist police violence: By objecting to the method of protest — blocking traffic, kneeling during the national anthem — they obscure the fact that it is the protest that actually bothers them.

CALEB HOWE
While Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and her friends in the media, are quintupling down on comparing American detention facilities to concentration camps, a survivor of the real concentration camps in Nazi Germany is livid, and speaking out.

Ed Mosberg is 93 years old, and is one of the few people still alive who survived the Nazi camps. He lives in Morris Plains, NJ, and he spoke to the New York Post about the freshman congresswoman's comments.

"She should be removed from Congress. She's spreading anti-Semitism, hatred and stupidity," he said to the paper. "The people on the border aren't forced to be there — they go there on their own will. If someone doesn't know the difference, either they're playing stupid or they just don't care."
The thing this person who survived some horrific stuff doesn't understand is that the conditions these people are being subjected to would be against the Geneva Accords. These people are seeking asylum and the administration is quite fine with committing acts that dehumanize these people. Sure, the Trump Admin aren't Nazis, but once again, the US used "concentration camps" in WWI (Germans) and WWII (Japanese). And both of those (of those that also know of the prior) are considered ethically bankrupt actions by the Government.

No one should have to endure what the victims of the Holocaust endured. But nor should others have to endure what the Germans and Japanese did in the US in the first half of the 20th century. What the Nazis did isn't the basis for what is considered morally reprehensible.

These people came to the border on there own accord, many dragging their kids with them, can leave the " camps " at any time, and are fed not gassed or experimented on or killed because of their eccentricity as over 6 million Jews were. I agree 120% with her. AOC should be thrown out of Congress for her stupidity and such offensive comments!

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "The $4.6 billion wasn’t humanitarian at all. It had NO accountability measures for facilities that abuse children and families. It didn’t fix the problem, just funded abuse. I don’t believe in billion dollar blank checks for unethical, abusive administrations. Including yours. https://t.co/IzWJKWUxaN" / Twitter noting Kellyanne Conway on Twitter: "How many migrant women did @AOC help by voting AGAINST the $4.6 billion bipartisan humanitarian aid that is FOR THEM? (She even voted against the Democrat aid package). All talk, no dollars. https://t.co/kwNEFwSFNR" / Twitter
Responding to AOC asking how many refugees that KC has personally hugged and listened to and tried to comfort.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Are CBP officers waking up women in the middle of sleep a “funding” problem? Is calling migrants “filthy” “wh*res” a funding problem? Is threatening violence on members of Congress a “funding” problem? No, it’s not. It’s a far deeper, systemic, more violent problem than that." / Twitter

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Also @KellyannePolls, maybe you actually do your job and show up to a Congressional hearing next time you want to talk to me. After all you, you ran away and skipped out on Oversight committee last week, just to call into Fox and Friends instead. 🤷🏽*♀️ https://t.co/IzWJKWUxaN" / Twitter with response Public Citizen on Twitter: "@AOC @KellyannePolls .@AOC: When [Kellyanne Conway] doesn’t show up to her own Congressional hearing, she’s not just disrespecting Democrats — she's disrespecting the entire body. https://t.co/E0oKMHdcYf" / Twitter
AOC also slammed the Administration for going against the rule of law by refusing to do anything about KC and her alleged violations of the Hatch Act.

I just can't imagine the desperation that women must feel when they decide to flee their homes to run through the desert with their children and face such dangers.

Fleeing their homes from forced prostitution, murder, and the drug lords?

Sounds like economic migrants!

Oscar Martinez and his family were not fleeing from anything. Nevertheless, they were trying t get asylum. And despite being purely economic migrants, our leftist politicians are calling him a "refugee".

The world the British colonists inherited was ruled by kings, hereditary aristocrats, and wealthy gentlemen. Then, in the year 1776, Americans decided to change that world. They would do without a king or aristocrats. They would create a new government based solely on "the people."

But who would really count as "the people," and how would it all work? Should wealthy and educated gentlemen still dominate the government? Could a new, representative form of government truly represent the interests and views of common men and women? How should these people participate to make their voices heard?

A little spat?

https://dailycaller.com/2019/07/02/kellyanne-conway-ocasio-cortez/

Kellyanne Conway traded Twitter jabs Tuesday with New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after the latter claimed that people were drinking from toilets at migrant detention facilities.

“Chuck Schumer wants to talk about photo-ops?” Conway said on Tuesday morning’s edition of “Fox & Friends,” according to a Daily Beast article that Ocasio-Cortez posted. “I saw one yesterday. And it’s called Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez going down to one of these facilities and making this outrageous claim that a woman’s drinking from a toilet, which everybody who has control over that facility, or control for the border patrol has said that’s not true, they’ve not heard of this.”

First off - the daily caller? If they reported the sky is blue and water is wet, I would still wait for confirmation from a legitimate source.
Secondly - Kellyanne Conway, known for her passion in speaking out for the poor innocent victims of Bowling Green has as much integrity as Nigerian royalty.
Thirdly - AOC isn't the only one who witnessed the happy-fun-not-concentration-camps. Her claims were backed up by other members of congress.

It could be worse. The US government could try and absolve themselves of any responsibility by outsourcing the security to the tune of $422 million, paid to a PO box in Singapore, by a company "that was registered to a beach shack on Kangaroo Island."

It really is a race to the bottom at the moment.
