Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Well, for one thing, 3 out of the 4 congresswomen of color he claimed came to this country and who should go back to where they came from were BORN AND RAISED IN THE USA.
Well, then "the right" is ignorant.
Ms. Omar is a US citizen. I think if she did not care about the USA, you'd be criticizing her for that. Would you please produce the Omar quote where she said the US is disgusting, because, no offense, you are not a reliable reporter of reality.
Anyone who believes whatever country they live in is perfect is an idiot. That includes the USA. There is always room for improvement. The fact that the USA is better than Somalia is not setting the bar very high.

Illhan Omar married her brother to fraudulently get him into the U.S. The left ignores this though. They wouldn't if this was a Republican who did that.
Why do you persistently change the subject? That has nothing to do with Trump's tweets. And it is, at best, an unproven claim (https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ilhan-omar-marry-brother/) - in other words, a rumor.

Unproven claim is not the same as false claim.

In countless threads we hear from Derec how important reasonsble doubt standard is, even applied to pedophiles OUTSIDE A COURT SYSTEM,
One would think that especially liberals would agree with that. And as to 'pedophiles', meanings of words matter. When you accuse somebody who is not a pedophile of pedophilia just to capitalize on the strong pubic reaction to that word, than that's wrong.

and now suddenly AOC is declared guilty of associating with someone who allegedly likes someone else who associated with Hitler.
Who is declaring AOC "guilty" by association? I was just posting facts about somebody high up in her organization. Somebody who, yes, is a fan of a Nazi collaborator.

What you wrote above does not apply here at all, because the facts are beyond dispute. Chakrabati is a fan of a Nazi collaborator, he did compare some Democrats to 1940s segregationists, and AOC is, as of this time, still holding on to him.

If you are not shaking your head at the double standard nothingburger, you are not paying attention.
It's not a double standard. Just like "snowflake" and "pedophilia", maybe we should add that phrase to the list of things Leftists do not know the meaning of.

It is unproven. Which means people of good conscience should not treat it as fact. One would think that among all of the icons of the conservative blogsphere, at least one would come up with some proof.

But yeah, I notice how quickly misleading policy proposals (GND) and Nazi collaboration get excused as long as AOC is involved.
Apparently Bose was willing to make a deal with whichever devil would help him achieve his goal of an independent India. My understanding of India during that time is that there were plenty of Indians who were willing to do just about anything to oust the British and their racist and oppressive regime. I am not excusing Bose but Bose was not exactly an effective collaborator with anyone.
How do you define "effective"? He created these fascist Indian military units in collaboration with both Hitler and Tojo.

Henry Ford did business with Hitler -
By the time Hitler took power Ford was an old man who had suffered strokes.
Sure, he was an antisemite and is rightly criticized for it. And you won't find any people wearing his face on a t-shirt.
But to compare business ventures from before US entered WWII to a would-be communist-facist dictator of India militarily collaborating with Nazi Germany is a big stretch even for you.

AOC's employee may admire Bose for his political views
Which views exactly?

or his fight for India's independence or even for his collaboration with Hitler - but without knowing any more information, this is pretty much as Don calls it, a nothing burger.
Or because he was opposed to UK and US in WWII ...
What we do know is that Chakrabati himself has not addressed it, yet. Neither has AOC.
In any case, it's not a "nothing-burger".

Doesn't matter, he collaborated with Hitler - that is your standard
And you won't find any people wearing his face on a t-shirt.
Tell that to these vendors - https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Henry+Ford+tshirt

Just applying your standards.

It is possible that it has not been addressed because they see it as a nothing burger. And it is a smear by innuendo until there is more information.

Frankly, I could care less. I find the attention paid to AOC vastly disproportionate to her importance. There is no reason for so many people to get so upset about this first year congresswoman of color and to stoop to such stupid and low tactics to discredit her.

One would think that especially liberals would agree with that.

No, rational people do not agree that a burden of reasonable doubt is the most appropriate burden in all contexts. Clearly, it is a good burden in a court of law, but in public discussion or a discussion about risks to your family and children, you have to be careful. And so if there's a 50% chance someone is a pedophile, you don't let your kids go alone with that person, regardless of court outcomes. You are so interested in defending anyone accused of sex crimes that you seem to have lost all Reason.

Derec said:
Who is declaring AOC "guilty" by association?

You. Don't deny. Just admit it.

No, rational people do not agree that a burden of reasonable doubt is the most appropriate burden in all contexts.
I never said it is. But certainly rational people recognize that presuming guilt just because of an accusation is not appropriate in ANY situation. And neither is branding people with label X even though it does not fit just because it is politically expedient.

And so if there's a 50% chance someone is a pedophile, you don't let your kids go alone with that person, regardless of court outcomes.
First people would need to fucking learn what that word means of course. Which most don't.

You are so interested in defending anyone accused of sex crimes that you seem to have lost all Reason.
Wrong. You have. For example, why derail this thread with it?

You. Don't deny. Just admit it.

Bullshit. She is not guilty by association, but she is responsible because of her association with him. He is her chief of staff, and his shenanigans reflect poorly on her.
If Biden had a chief of staff who liked to wear a t-shirt with the face of Vidkun Quisling on it, I'd think Biden would have the good sense to fire him immediately.

And what did those units accomplish?
They killed some Allied soldiers.

Doesn't matter, he collaborated with Hitler - that is your standard
Are you really that obtuse not to see the difference or are you just practicing obfuscating stupidity?

Next time a political operative wears one, I will make sure I criticize him as well. Fair?

It is possible that it has not been addressed because they see it as a nothing burger. And it is a smear by innuendo until there is more information.
Note that it is not just the t-shirt that is the issue. It's his statements on GND that reflect poorly on his boss (although he was just being too honest there). There is attacking fellow Democrats as being like 1940s segregationist for not being "pure" enough. He is an elephant in a political china shop!

Frankly, I could care less. I find the attention paid to AOC vastly disproportionate to her importance. There is no reason for so many people to get so upset about this first year congresswoman of color and to stoop to such stupid and low tactics to discredit her.

She has become a superstar in leftist circles. lpetrich is so enamored of her he is hanging on her every tweet!
Why should she then not be criticized? Because she is supposedly "of color"?

Snopes says this is unproven.

Nope - just applying your standard MO. Now, I wouldn't have described it as obfuscating stupidity, but it'll do.

Note that it is not just the t-shirt that is the issue. It's his statements on GND that reflect poorly on his boss (although he was just being too honest there). So? That is AOC's "problem".

She has become a superstar in leftist circles. lpetrich is so enamored of her he is hanging on her every tweet!
Why should she then not be criticized? Because she is supposedly "of color"?
Smear by innuendo is not a substantive criticism. It is intellectually dishonest and cowardly.

BTW, all the attention AOC gets from the bigots, the deplorables, the dumbasses, the fearmongers and their dupes serves to up her "Q" factor with "the left".

Yes, you are making her guilty by association and using double standards. If Biden had a chief of staff who ALLEGEDLY wore a t-shirt with a picture of Thomas Jefferson, you'd have no problem with it.

Unproven claim is not the same as false claim.

it is to a Christain. Or other Bible-believer.

That $174.000 salary is just the start of the perks members of congress receive. Exactly how much salary was AOC receiving while bartending?

I'd go with this instead: https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/RL30064.html
Much of what they receive is available to all federal employees.

Which most Americans would dearly love to receive also but don't! How much was she earning as a barmaid again?

... barmaid...

AOC's past salary. She's come a long, long way since then. Not bad for a clueless bimbo!

How much does a Bartender make in the United States?
The average salary for a Bartender is $11.57 per hour in the United States. Salary estimates are based on 18,495 salaries submitted anonymously to Indeed by Bartender employees, users, and collected from past and present job advertisements on Indeed in the past 36 months. The typical tenure for a Bartender is 1-3 years.

pResident tRump has responded.
Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "So sad to see the Democrats sticking up for people who speak so badly of our Country and who, in addition, hate Israel with a true and unbridled passion. Whenever confronted, they call their adversaries, including Nancy Pelosi, “RACIST.” Their disgusting language....." / Twitter
Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "....and the many terrible things they say about the United States must not be allowed to go unchallenged. If the Democrat Party wants to continue to condone such disgraceful behavior, then we look even more forward to seeing you at the ballot box in 2020!" / Twitter

The supposed Israel-haters are presumably Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. AOC has stayed rather silent on the Israel-Palestine issue.

What to Know About Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (July 11, noting a Washington Post article)
Speaking to the Post, AOC said her feelings toward Pelosi's comments have changed over time. "When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood," she said. "But the persistent singling out... it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful... the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color."

She said the "third and fourth time" Pelosi insulted her, she felt they were unnecessary but had given in to being "the punching bag, if that's what they want me to be." AOC also admits that there's isn't really a relationship between her and Pelosi, saying it's "difficult." The Post reports that the two have not spoken one-on-one since February. At the time, AOC declined Pelosi's request that AOC join her committee on climate change. After AOC refused, Pelosi singled her out in a private Progressive Caucus meeting.

Pressley also called Pelosi's comments "demoralizing," telling the Post, "I am worried about the signal that it sends to people I speak to and for, who sent me here with a mandate, and how it affects them."

Two sources told the Post that Pelosi commented on the situation during a private meeting, saying that members should show "some level of respect" to more moderate Democrats.
NP at her most recent press conference:
"They took offense because I addressed, at the request of my members, an offensive tweet that came out of one of the members' offices that referenced our Blue Dogs and our New Dems essentially as segregationists. Our members took offense at that. I addressed that. How they're interpreting and carrying it to another place is up to them." She continued, "But I'm not going to be discussing it any further. I said what I'm going to say."
