I'm not a huge fan of Twitter, but Ocasio-Cortez seems to be good with its use, and keeping responses concise and to the point without getting into the weeds.

This fight he's picking is aimed at the rust belt swing vote. They are poor, they are white, they would never vote for a traditional 'Bush' country club Republican. But they got sold on Trump because he was "anti-establishment". He got them. They lofted him through the primaries. He loved coal and steel and the real working man. They got sold on the propaganda that the Democrats were letting them rot in the rusted out meth-holes that their towns had become while giving all the help and attention to minorities, gays, and all the other people for which the 'social justice warriors' are trying to get 'special' rights. Trump is going to save them from the immigrants, chemtrails, 5G mind control, ... take your pick. He was their birther sympathizer.


Trump doesn't care how ugly he looks. He is trying to accomplish two things here by attacking the brown progressives (likely at the direction of GOP strategists bought by The Heritage Foundation and such). He wants to keep his white base fired up with xenophobia and nativism; to keep that base on board with the belief that the Democrats only care about immigrants and want to give immigrants lots of free stuff, that the immigrants are steeling your health care and taking your jobs while collecting all the welfare. But he is also trying to stoke tensions within the Democratic Party. He wants the minorities and progressives to feel like the establishment party is against them. Indeed, Pelosi et al. would like Cortez to keep a lower profile so as to not scare off the white working class that Biden is trying to win back. If the GOP plays this right they kill two birds with one stone. They simultaneously keep the nativists angry and encourage an undervote on the progressive side.
 
I saw a tweet today claiming that Pelosi's rebuke of the Squad set the stage for Trump's racist tweet.

The only thing AOC will do in 2020 presidential campaign wise is make Trump's reelection more likely.
As Peggy Noonan said, she is a one-woman committee to reelect Trump.

As far as her own campaign, I hope there is a good primary challenger who will make her a one term wonder.

When he spoke in defence of Pelosi and said AOC should show more respect, it really did seem to me like he was trying to link Pelosi to himself and get Democrats to thereby turn on Pelosi and boost up AOC as well as identity politics in the Democratic party. He gains immeasurably from the infighting.

Dream on. She's gotten famous enough for her fame to open a lot of doors in activist organizations. So she'll have a great career as an activist, and she may even run for public office again some time.

That fails to consider what frequent televised hearings could do. Most people aren't even aware of Trump's most egregious OJ actions. If they fail to move the public, than not impeaching is still an option.
