Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Why isn't the elephant in the room been addressed? That elephant is Islam! A backward barbaric supremacist ideology that is purely religion driven.

One might even go so far as to posit the not only is Islam "religion driven", it even seems to act like an actual religion! Who would have thought?

The trouble arises because it's a supremacists ideology posing as a religion!

My guess would be that she has at least as much of a handle on it as you have on Islam. That is a fairly low bar, however, given that you don't even seem to realize that Islam is a religion.

LMAO! It is the "identity politics" Left that doesn't realize that Islam is a religion (i.e. a set of beliefs and practices) and not a race.

No, it is the person who made the following statement who does not seem to realize that Islam is a religion:
"Why isn't the elephant in the room been addressed? That elephant is Islam! A backward barbaric supremacist ideology that is purely religion driven."

Take a look Derec, case in point. Angelo still does not realize that Islam is a religion.

The thing I don't understand is how you can fail to realize that Islam is, in fact, a religion.

Nearly any religion can manifest extremist ideologies in its followers, Christianity is another such example, and Islam is no exception in this regard.

There are Buddhists that are violent!

Just for grins I googled the following terms and noted the number of responses:

violent Muslims: 17,600,000 results
violent Islamists: 3,260,000 results
violent Hindus: 3,950,000 results
violent Buddhists: 1,370,000 results
violent Atheists: 1,340,000 results
violent Christians: 23,900,000 results

So, by this metric the least violent group would be atheists which is not a bit surprising to me. The runaway winner for most violent would be Christians. Again not terribly surprising, except for its margin of "victory" above Muslims.

“The giant online retailer said it has signed a new lease for 335,000 square feet on the city’s west side in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood, where it will have more than 1,500 employees,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Amazon is taking the space without any of the special tax credits and other inducements the company had been offered to build a new headquarters in the Queens neighborhood of Long Island City, the company said.”

Zephyr Teachout has run for New York Governor, the US House, and NY State Attorney General, though without success in any of these. ZT ran for Attorney General while pregnant, and she had the baby not long before the election.

If AOC last long enough in the House, she might join some fellow Congresswomen in having a baby while in office. A recent one was Senator Tammy Duckworth (The Baby Boom in Congress | EMILY's List). Elsewhere in the world, Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan and Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand both had babies while in office.

AOC tweets some more about the Amazon issue.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "While we’re here, let’s clear up some GOP disinfo: - “It’s 1500 jobs vs 25,000”: The 25,000 jobs figure was a 10-20 year fantasy # from Amazon, not a promise or agreement. I find it entertaining to watch right-wingers defend corporate welfare and crony capitalism, two things that they often claim to be opposed to.

Yea, happy days in New York. The original plans were for Amazon to locate 25,000 jobs. The new scaled back expansion that AOC and Bernie are happy about is 1,500. 23,500 jobs are going somewhere else.

Big, big difference is xtianity went through a reformation which today renders it mostly harmless as compared to the murderous, barbaric ideology of islam! Over 35.000 muzzie terrorist attacks just since 9/11 which has resulted in hundreds of thousand of innocent deaths and maimed.

How many such atrocities have been committed by all xtian denominations during the same period? When was the last time a Mormon, or a JW strapped a bomb to himself and triggered it killing or maiming innocent people?

I like AOC. But her command of facts is sometimes alarming. I've sat on economic development boards in both Oregon and Washington, so I understand how these work. $1,200Billion of the grants were in the form of refundable tax credits or so called claw back. That's about $53/000 per job. The average that I saw for these claw backs was between $25,000 to $50,000 per job. So, if the company creates all the jobs over a certain amount of time, they keep the grant. But if they 2 less jobs, then they have to pay back part of the grant back in the form of a long term loan. So, if two fewer jobs, they'd have a long term loan of $106,000 to pay back. There are people who audit this work and it is available to the public if you want to look for it.

I was looking through some other stuff when I came across how AOC reacted to Rashida Tlaib's famous call to "impeach the motherfucker".

AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashid Tlaib Talk to Showtime's Desus & Mero - however, D&M have made their video private. But that article contains bits of transcript.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Defends Rashida Tlaib on Desus & Mero on Mediaite -- has some video, including RT's famous call, and a transcript of AOC, RT, and IO discussing it:
Rashida got into a little bit of trouble for saying a boo-boo word,” Ocasio-Cortez explained on Desus & Mero. “I hit up Rashida, I sent her a text, and I was like, ‘Don’t worry about it, I mean who cares.’ And she was like ‘Yeah, I’m from Detroit, back there that’s just what we call, ‘That guy.'”

“No it’s honestly — that’s saying, ‘That guy,'” Tlaib said.

“The double standard in that is that, that guy, never gets in trouble for all of the boo-boo words he uses,” Omar added.
IO also has that video: Ilhan Omar on Instagram: “It seems like we're radical because we deeply care about the people we represent and we want to throw down for them. Thank you…”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "When @desusnice asked me, @RashidaTlaib and @IlhanMN: “Are there a lot of double standards” in DC? 😂
You can see it here: [url]https://t.co/owq3IBctnZ

“I think we have a beef with almost anyone here because there’s a lack of courage. It seems like we’re all radical because we deeply care about the people we represent and we want to throw down for them,” Omar said.

“Exactly, because for once we’re not just fighting over what is getting done, but we’re fighting over how it’s getting done,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Why She Embraces Her Twitter Trolls | Entertainment Tonight
"It is heavy. But in a weird way, that stuff is validation that you’re doing something real," she said.

"Because if you’re just flying under the radar, just trying to get your check, not rock the boat, then what’s the point of being in politics?" she asked. "What is the point of doing things if you’re just trying to maintain the status quo that doesn’t help people?"

Ocasio-Cortez -- who said she'd probably be teaching high school if President Donald Trump wasn't elected -- proved she's not taking her critics too seriously as she called the memes she tagged in on social media "so weak." "How do you have a computer that runs both Windows ‘95 and Twitter at the same time?" she cracked.
Like a power strip that is plugged into itself. The right wing likes making dumbness jokes about her.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on 'Desus & Mero' [Video]
“We’re seeing people activate and educate themselves,” Ocasio-Cortez said, “and mobilize, and make amazing art, and hit the streets, and run for office, and that’s really when our country’s at its best. So, ya know, a silver lining in everything.”
I think that the oligarchs who back the Republican Party may come to regret supporting pResident tRump -- he has provoked too much of a backlash. They'd prefer someone like Obama, who spouted soothing rhetoric about "hope" and "change", but did not really do anything that would hurt them.

About her, RT, and IO:
“I think we have a beef with almost everyone ’cause there’s a lack of courage,” Omar said, “and it seems like we’re all radical because we deeply care for the people we represent and we want to throw down for them.” Ocasio-Cortez added, “Exactly, because for once we’re not just fighting over what is getting done, but we’re fighting over how it’s getting done.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Desus & Mero Says 10 Mill is 'Enough'
“Why are you trying to take all our money away from us,” Desus asked jokingly. “We just signed with Showtime, and now you’re trying to put the wild tax on millionaires! What’s wrong with you?”

“No seriously though, please look straight to the camera and explain the tax shit for the dumb m***er f**kers,” said Mero.
AOC then did, explaining what a marginal tax rate is. Her proposal of a 70% marginal income-tax rate for above $10 million/year means that every dollar that one earns above that is taxed 70%, meaning that one has to pay 70 cents in taxes for it. She also noted that the highest marginal rate was 90%, under Eisenhower -- a Republican.
“When–at what point is it immoral that we’re building Jeff Bezos a helipad when we have the most amount of homeless people in New York City?” she asked, to applause from the audience.

AOC as a schoolteacher? She might still have been an activist, and she might still have run for office some day. All the ways that history could turn out...
