Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Sure looks like powerful people are trying to bribe the President into war.… " noting David Fahrenthold on Twitter: "NEW: We got leaked documents detailing 1,200+ different stays at @realDonaldTrump's hotel. Here's the guest who stayed the longest: a sheikh who wants to be president of Iraq, and who wants the U.S. to strike Iran. He spent 26 nights in a suite. https://t.co/d4qF2xTE8t"

Tiffany Cabán on Twitter: "I’m a queer Latina from a working-class family. People like us are exactly who the system is trying to keep down. That’s why I became a public defender—and that’s why I’m running for Queens DA. Watch our new ad and help us bring real justice to Queens: https://t.co/Av3yWryvUt… https://t.co/9WFa4kAs0T"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "DC statehood & Puerto Rico statehood are NOT the same issue. PR was colonized by the US, & deserves a BINDING process of self-determination. Imposing one’s status opinion on PR, instead of committing to uphold the results of a plebiscite, perpetuates the legacy of colonization.… https://t.co/nEmVI1521L" noting Nate Silver on Twitter: "My view: * DC statehood * Puerto Rico statehood * Merge the Dakotas into 1 state * Annex Delaware into Pennsylvania Stay at 50 states!… https://t.co/2Gwc8TkZ9q"
Maryland would be a better fit for Delaware, I think, though I agree on merging some of the Great Plains states and maybe also some of the Mountain ones. As to Puerto Rico, some Puerto Ricans want association or independence instead of statehood.

Brian L Kahn on Twitter: "New poll data from @DataProgress shows it's not just the Green New Deal as a standalone idea that's popular: the progressive policies that could make it a reality are, too https://t.co/tH3ITRU8v2… https://t.co/0oh6bXWIyU"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Psst! 🗣 Birth control should be over-the-counter, pass it on."
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "(It should be free, too - like in the UK!)"
Birth-control pills? Making them free? Seems impractical.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Is it really that hard to not be creepy? https://t.co/WJJv7QNDyn" noting 60% of male managers now say they're uncomfortable mentoring women
The #MeToo and Time’s Up movements have brought huge attention to the challenges women face at work, but a new survey finds that 60% of male managers say they’re uncomfortable mentoring, working one-on-one or socializing with a woman.

According to the survey, released by LeanIn.org and SurveyMonkey, that’s a 33% increase from last year.

Senior-level men also say they are 12 times more likely to be hesitant about one-on-one meetings with a junior woman than they are a junior man, nine times more likely to be hesitant to travel with a junior woman for work than a junior man, and six times more likely to be hesitant to have a work dinner with a junior woman than a junior man.

Alexa Farrell on Twitter: "I spoke exclusively with U.S. Representative @AOC @RepAOC at a Yemeni parade today. She shared her support of the Muslim community. Watch the interview here... #Yemen #YemeniDayParade #AOC… https://t.co/A4xDYIG1JB"

OK sign is under siege: How the squeaky-clean hand gesture was twisted by trolls and acquired racist undertones - Chicago Tribune
The short answer is that, starting in 2017, members of a discussion board called 4chan mounted one in a series of attempts to “troll” — or mock — liberals with a right-wing hoax, claiming that the OK sign was a symbol of white supremacy, according to Mark Pitcavage, a senior research fellow at the Anti-Defamation League. The idea was that “the libs” would take up the cry that the OK symbol was racist and, in so doing, make themselves look ridiculous.

Some news outlets took the bait, and the claim was repeated on social media, Pitcavage said. Soon more right-wing trolls joined the campaign, which was anti-liberal but not necessarily white supremacist. Then some actual white supremacists took up the OK sign, apparently still largely as a way to make fun of liberals. And finally, some white supremacists started using the sign without apparent irony, most famously the New Zealand mosque shooter, a self-described racist who killed 51 Muslim worshipers March 15.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Is it really that hard to not be creepy?
Because these days literally anything can be proclaimed as "creepy" simply because so woman thinks it is, yes, yes it is too hard.

#metoo jumped the shark years ago when they got tired of exposing decades old alleged sexual assaults and started going after Al Franken for the crime of joking around while a comedian, after Formula 1 grid girls, after swimsuits at beauty pageants and even after nude art in museums.

I'm still of the opinion that if by any chance the old geezer Sanders gets the nod to run against the Trumpet in 2020, he could do a lot worse than get AOC as his running mate. Imagine the posters. The young and the wretched! or The dumb and dumber!

Well they were pretty unreasonable from the start (accusations were enough, proof beyond a reasonable doubt was not) so I never said I supported them, but they completely went bonkers when they ventured into waging a cultural revolution against insufficiently feminist entertainment like they were led by the zombie Andrea Dworkin or something.

We've been over this before. It's not about not being creepy, it's about not being subject to false allegations because someone misinterpreted something. Or simply wanted to cause trouble.

Is this such a problem, of being falsely accused of being creepy?
