We do not do justice in America in the streets though,” he argued. “We have legal processes that are set in motion, that are designed after centuries of Anglo-American jurisprudence tradition, they’re designed to protect the rights and liberties of everyone involved.”

“That includes the Brown family, for justice for them and for the community. It also includes the officer who has not yet been charged,” he added. “Our constitutional and our Bill of Rights protections have to be followed here, and we do not do justice in the streets.”

“That’s one of the great advances of Anglo-American civilization, is that that we do not have politicized trials. We let the justice system work it out.

You know

Sometimes it really is HOW you say it that gets you trouble.

He is so tone-deaf it is almost comical. Of course, he also speaks the truth whether he actually realizes it or not.

I just don't think people understand that. The whole context and how something is said.

So the problem is that he used the term "Anglo-American"?

white jurisprudence really is the best kind of jurisprudence

Hey. My formative years back in the 1960-70ss were spent growing up in St. Louis. Some progress has been made, because back then it was "White anglo-american".

white jurisprudence really is the best kind of jurisprudence
It has nothing to do with race, just with recognizing historical realities. US legal system is largely based on the English system it evolved from. Hence "Anglo-American". Complaining about it is political correctness run amok!

What's wrong with what he said?
It's the part where he stripped blacks from our society, by saying "Anglo-American civilization". The best part is it implies that blacks haven't contributed to the system at all.

The English system would appropriately reference the Anglo-SAXANs not Anglo-American.

I do see why certain people would like to read that in into the Lt-Gov's comments.

The English system would appropriately reference the Anglo-SAXANs not Anglo-American.
Saxon if you want to be pedantic. Anglo-American fits because it came here from England and was developed further in America.
In any case, what he was trying to say is that rioting to get what you want (arrest and conviction of the police officer) is not acceptable. Do you agree with that?

We're not arguing about what he was trying to say. We're arguing about what he did say.

Yes, because recognizing the historical antecedants of the US legal system in Missouri in 2014 was the relevant topic at hand when the Lt. Gov. spoke. It was about as relevant as the history of race relations in Missouri over the last 50 years or so, yet he didn't mention that at all. I wonder why. Do you?

This is about as dumb as the argument that niggardly is a racist word. Anglo-American Jurisprudence is what your type of legal system is called. I get that the 24 hour news cycle needs constant fodder to fan the flames of outrage in order to keep viewership up and all that and the riots were a bit calmer last night, but this is seriously stretching it.

The term used was "Anglo-American civilization". White America.

Not read into it... read it.

Pedantic? You mean accurate right?
Anglo-American fits because it came here from England and was developed further in America.
The term he used was Anglo-American Civilization. IE white America.

You know exactly how I feel about that, so you can cram that question.

No. That's not what the phrase means.

Not read into it... read it.
Wrong.
Pedantic? You mean accurate right?
Which "Saxan" certainly wasn't. Besides, I did explain why "Anglo-American" is correct here.
The term he used was Anglo-American Civilization. IE white America.
Wrong. The term he used was "Anglo-American jurisprudence tradition". I.e. American legal system based on English Common Law.

You know exactly how I feel about that, so you can cram that question.
I really don't, so why don't you enlighten us?

Apparently so.

Who the fuck uses the term "Anglo-American"?

I have addressed my misunderstanding for this.

Seriously, you think I'm pro-rioting? I'm about as pro-riot as you are pro-rape. Does that help?
