Regardless, it is a non-issue and I'm all out.
The most reasonable thing I've read in this thread.

It is an obscure word and isn't particularly used much in common conversation. He could have said the same thing without even referring to "Anglo-American civilization".Yes, it was a very niggardly statement on his part. By "niggardly", I of course mean "racist against black people" and I'm not using one of the actual definitions of the word.
This is one of the problems we have in America... the right-wing's insistence that they and only they have the right to be offended. They actually get offended when other people are offended. If you are offended by what Kinder said, why not send his office a nice little letter stating, "Although I'm sure you are not a racist and in the speech you gave on Aug 19th you didn't intend to come off as a racist; howsoever, for some of us not living in Jefferson City the phrase 'Ango American' comes off a little tone deaf. Kinder would probably read it and think, "damn your right".
Instead a bunch of people get offended. The majority of whites in MO get sick of hearing about some minority's hurt egos and then the problem just escalates.

Or he could be a graduate of a top-ranked law school who knows what words pertaining to the law mean and who uses them properly.
Who was the audience? A bunch of lawyers or the populace in general?Or he could be a graduate of a top-ranked law school who knows what words pertaining to the law mean and who uses them properly. It is an obscure word and isn't particularly used much in common conversation. Not really. And the left gets offended when the right is offended by the left being offended. And it never stops. This is one of the problems we have in America... the right-wing's insistence that they and only they have the right to be offended. Well, an adult (black guy) from the Highway Patrol did step in, helped to calm things, but then the cops of Ferguson (white guys) cut the legs out from under him. Racism may not be behind this, but from the face of it, it really looks bad. When people ignore that things have context, even unintended context, that is when miscommunications happen. It's like two kids pushing each other in the hall, "you stop it, no you stop it, no you stop it..." Some adult needs to step in and calm this shit down.
We are making money from this FERGERSON saga right now, I am not going to tell you how, but that is ok, because it will probably only last few a few weeks, In a few weeks from now, it will all die down.
Apparently Kinder isn't the only person with a tin ear who missed the point. Accomplished politicians speak with their audience in mind. Do you really think that anyone thought that this would be resolved using Sharia law?It is an obscure word and isn't particularly used much in common conversation. At first read I thought that people were being offended by the tone-deaf nature of this statement: "We let the justice system work it out."

No. As ksen pointed out, his attempt to diffuse the situation with that wording was doomed to failure.Apparently Kinder isn't the only person with a tin ear who missed the point. So ... your issue with him is that he didn't speak exactly like you feel the Platonic Ideal of a politician would? Maybe he talked like himself or something?
My issue with him is that he's an idiot that thought using terms like "anglo" would help diffuse a race fueled situation.
Well, uh, actually ...My issue with him is that he's an idiot that thought using terms like "anglo" would help diffuse a race fueled situation.
And my issue is that that's kind of a silly position to take. He used a term accurately and that term does not have any kind of racist connotations.
A misinterpretation of what he said can be viewed racially, but that's only possible to do by ignoring what he said and pretending that he was saying something else.
There's so fucking many legitimate reasons to be disgusted by the actions of members of the Missouri government in regards to this situation that people spending a moment being annoyed due to their own lack of reading comprehension as opposed to what someone is actually saying and doing.

people who are concerned are not the ones lacking comprehension.

Maybe you're right and that people shouldn't take exception to this guy tellingblackafro people to act more likewhiteanglo people. I mean that's a perfectly reasonable stance to take I guess.
