Another mass shooting - largest in a good while, by a few victims

Well, I know killing little kids in school couldn't motivate our legislature but I can hold out hope that this will affect the bottom line for Vegas so maybe the pain and suffering felt by Sheldon Adelson, Steve Wynn, Kirk Kerkorian, and the rest of the moneygrubbers can motivate them.
It's about all we've got left to hope for.

They're going to pass out loaded handguns to every attendee at the next Ted Nugent concert.
With that many returning fire, anyone who is 1700 feet away spraying the crowd with automatic weapons, is bound to get hit at least once. right?

They are reporting over 500 injured! More people died and were hurt in this attack than the Cat 4/5 hurricane managed in Puerto Rico.

This attack nuzzles itself into the company of the WTC and OKC bombings. One guy.

Plus, the victims were country music fans. There's that, too.

This really, really, really sick and cynical part of me imagines that this horrific shooting was manufactured to get Trump out of a long visit to Puerto Rico where there's so much destruction, mess and lack of conveniences, much less tacky luxuries. By the time he gets to Vegas, all the blood will be cleaned up and he can hit some of the casinos. Or at least hang out with casino owners.

[*]Head to Matt Drudge website to try and get first peak at identity of shooter
As if left-wingers don't do that, hoping it's a white male.
[*]If Shooter is Muslim, blame Islam
That's because Muslim attackers use Islam as their motivation. Shouting Allahu Akhbar, swearing fealty to the Islamic State, etc.
Like for example the terrorist attacks in Marseilles and Edmonton which did not get much press.
Criminal charges laid against Somali refugee in Edmonton attacks
CBC said:
Abdulahi Hasan Sharif, 30, is the sole suspect in the investigation. Police believe he acted alone.
The Somali refugee was facing a series of charges including participation in a terrorist attack, commission of an offence for a terrorist group and five counts of attempted murder, dangerous driving and possession of a weapon.[.]
Sharif was investigated in 2015, for allegedly espousing extremism, but investigators said there was insufficient evidence for an arrest and it was found he was not a national security threat.
Marseille train station attack: suspect released from custody the day before
Aussie ABC said:
Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said police had video that showed the man attacking a woman and running away, then coming back and attacking a second woman.
Some witnesses reported hearing the assailant shout "Allahu akbar!" — Arabic for "God is great" — Mr Collomb said.
The IS-linked Aamaq news agency said the assailant was acting in response to the extremist group's calls to target countries in the US-led coalition fighting militants in Syria and Iraq.

[*]If Shooter is Black, blame blacks and reference "law and order", mention Chicago a few times too
Who is blaming "blacks" as a whole? But if the attack is motivated by black power ideology (like for example Micah Johnson), then it is very much relevant.

[*]If an immigrant, go to town about DACA
It's quite amazing for far we have come with euphemisms for illegals. First it was "undocumented". Now apparently any adjective is dropped, and all distinctions between legal and illegal immigrants are simply ignored.
And no, it's sanctuary cities/states that are gone to town on when an illegal who was, for example, previously arrested in San Francisco murders somebody because SF refused to hand him over to ICE even though he repeatedly entered US illegally.

[*]If just a white male... mention that the true victim here is the 2nd Amendment and make a passing comment about how "we don't deal with mental health issues well in this nation"
It all depends on motivation. It is the Left that focuses on race and also pretends that Islam is a race.

[*]Go online to find out identity of shooter
- Hoping it's a white male and hoping it's not a Muslim.
- If it is a white male, repeat that a hundred million times, regardless of whether the motivation of the shooter had anything to do with his race or gender.
- If the shooter is black, point out the questionable cases of black people killed by police.
- If it is a Muslim who did it for Islam, downplay it, accuse people of racism (as if Islam was a race) and blame white males because other white males colonized the Middle East 100s of years ago. If all else fails, blame Israel.

Just remember that it's too soon after this tragedy to start talking about gun control or any causes which led to this.

When I see the news about such tragedies, my first thought is about the victims and their families. Then I wonder what type of person would do such a thing and what drove him to do it.

Reports say he was firing from the 32nd floor of his hotel. Probably a lot of confusion early on as to where the shots were coming from.

Now, recently Republicans were working on legalizing silencers. Yea, I know they don't work like in the movies. But it would have made it even tougher to tell where the shots were coming from, giving him more time to shoot up the place if he had one.

Having everyone at the concert armed? Say all the people realize where the shots are coming from... do they all open fire at the hotel? I'm sure some of the other rooms would take a few shots, hitting people who were looking out to see what was happening. And maybe some of those other hotel guests are armed, and seeing they are under fire will return fire. How long until a huge clusterfuck like that happens in one of the gun-happy states?

Since it's a 64 year old, retired white male, whose motivations are unknown...

anyone want to speculate as to why he did it?

Depends on the movie of course.

Yes, easy for something like this to cause panic. Panic + many well armed people = probably very bad news.

Modern country music sucks?

Same thing I think is responsible for any of these shootings: He was bat-shit crazy. Everything else is just an excuse to act.

I'm less interested in the why, and more in the how. We likely can't fix the why. We could at least, in theory, try to address the how. As a nation, we won't, but it is always nice to pretend for a moment, that as a nation, we'd try to see to it that this doesn't happen again... and that not requiring me to take off my clothes and empty my bags before entering a hotel.
