Are we now in full blown fascist totalitarianism?

The people don't care overall.
Of course they don't. Why would they?

It's only the Socialists, Trade Unionists and Jews Venezuelans, Haitians, and Muslims they are coming for, not me. And those guys probably all deserve it anyway.

Niemöller never said anything about coming for Venezuelans, so I expect that that's not a prelude to anything bad.

Right?

And you know, the people who are screaming "TDS" are probably the people who would be most compliant in helping the fascists.
This just in, the guy who proposed the bill, or one of them, just got clapped for soliciting a minor for prostitution.

Fuck your feelings Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire shamefully cheers sending people to foreign slave camps without due process and bashes judge for trying to uphold due process. Does Ben really think he will be safe from this treatment by supporting this? The dark part of me hopes he gets rounded up some day and sent off without due process so he knows what it's like and feels the consqeuences of the fascism he helped usher in. How can he be this utterly blind to history?

Last time I checked*, only violent criminals and sailors got tattoos.

There's a girl I know and like who is proof tattoos are fine anywhere nowadays.

You can ask me how I know - Relax. I just fucking know.

I'm old school. I think God did his finest work with the female body and tattoos are like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa - it's vandalism.

I don't disagree, but I know it's not's my decision to make either.

Excellent piece by Marc Elias on how the courts are the only remaining line of defense between a constitutional republic and a fascist dictatorship (an imperfect defense at that), and how the Trump administration is engaging in full on war against the legal system and the courts so that this final pillar may crumble:

First, for courts to act, they need skilled lawyers willing to challenge government actions. These cases are often highly technical and require expertise in specialized areas of law. That expertise is concentrated among a relatively small number of lawyers, and historically, large, multi-office law firms have been a critical source of legal resources.

Since taking office, Trump has targeted individual lawyers with specialized skills — such as security clearances and experience representing whistleblowers — through intimidation and government action. He has not only demonized them but also imposed sanctions, revoking security clearances and barring them from entering government buildings, making it difficult for them to represent clients in these areas.

More recently, he has begun issuing executive orders targeting entire large law firms and their thousands of employees. The impact of these orders extends beyond those firms, creating a chilling effect across the legal profession. Trump hopes these tactics will discourage lawyers and firms from taking on cases that challenge him and his administration.

Sadly, it’s working.

If enough lawyers and law firms are targeted or too afraid to act, this alone could be the shark that sinks the boat.

The other is ignoring court rulings, which we are now at the early stages of happening, but he is preparing his supporters for more of it with the attacks on judges.

Criticize Trump government policies, get denied entry:

The brain drain this administration will cause is going to be epic. What career minded scientist would be stupid enough to to do their work in the US if they have any other option? Probably only the die hard MAGA ones, of which there likely aren't many.

*sniff*, *sniff* what's that smell? Ah yes, the unmistakable whiff of male bovine excrement.

It happened, your dream has come true, congratulations. You should go work for this administration. You have the appropriate level of sycophantism and cruelty that will be a good fit. Just be aware though if you ever lose power there will be Nuremberg trials and the death penalty will not be off the table for any crimes against humanity anyone in this administration commits. Rubio, Tom Homan, Stephen Miller, Trump, ICE leadership are all at the top of the list.

It happened,

Did it though? It's very vague.

your dream has come true, congratulations.

First, you have no idea what my dreams are. Second, what are you on about?

You should go work for this administration. You have the appropriate level of sycophantism and cruelty that will be a good fit.

Sure, Jan.

lol, such drama.

What the actual hell are you talking about? The white house filmed the whole thing with movie quality cameras and released the footage of it happening, and it is not being disputed by anyone, including DOJ attorneys, that these people did not get any due process before sending them to the El Salvadorian slave prison camp (which also isn't in dispute, El Salvador president openly brags about it being exactly that and even pinned it at the top of his X account)

This action is not authorized by any law from congress or by any judge. That is the very essence of a fascist dictatorship.

I was referring to your post #69 about the French guy being sent back.

That one was not a violation of the constitution and fundamental human rights it guarantees and not really that big of deal compared to the crimes against humanity that occurred over the weekend. Just an example of the arbitrary power now being wielded against anyone attempting to travel here. People have to be insane to travel into the US from any foreign country at this point.

Which is why called BS on it.

People have to be insane to travel into the US from any foreign country at this point.

That is irrational. Millions of people arrive into the USA without incident every year.

Millions of people arrive into the USA without incident every year.

That was then. The wife of one of my good friends is German. They have lived here for years, she is still a German Citizen and has a German Passport and a green card that was issued prior to 1989 and does not have an expiration date on it. They are going to Germany next week and staying a month. They are concerned about coming home since she has a "questionable" (but legal and legitimate) green card. They have traveled to Germany quite often over the years with no issues. But this is a new world we live in.

Good grief, this is a story about nothing.
