Of course, the local lefty rag is framing it like this:

New Black Panther Party seeks justice for Dorian Murrell, end of white supremacy

Indy Star said:
Around 20 people representing the New Black Panther Party (NBPP), Panther Special Operations Command and other Black activists groups convened at the Julia M. Carson Transit Center for a Second Amendment march to Monument Circle early Saturday afternoon against white supremacy and in support for the family of Dorian Murrell.

Last year, the night of May 30, during the riots in downtown Indianapolis, robberies and violence broke out. At around 2 a.m., Murrell, an unarmed teenager, was shot and killed around Pennsylvania and Market streets.

That's a pretty disingenuous way to talk about Dorian Murrell. In reality he and several others committed robberies and a murder before Murrell was shot dead.

Man charged with murder of Chris Beaty on night of downtown riots

Wish TV said:
A man has been charged with murdering a man during downtown riots at the end of May. Marcus Anderson, 23, is accused of murdering Chris Beaty, 38, on May 30.
[...]
Anderson also faces charges in another case that occurred on the same night.
Anderson and Alijah Jones were accused of pointing a gun and robbing a woman in a parking garage.
Security camera video has shows Anderson and Jones traveling in a group of five on May 30.
[...]
In the early morning hours of May 31, another member of their group, 18-year-old Dorian Murrell was shot and killed just east of Monument Circle.
Tyler Newby, 29 at the time, turned himself in for shooting Murrell shortly after.
Newby told investigators that he “felt a hand on his back and then he was shoved from behind and fell to the ground.” When he rolled over, he said someone was standing over him. Newby fired one shot, killing Murrell.

So this groups goes around robbing people, killing one. When they tried to attack Newby, he defended himself, killing Murrell.

Shouts of "Black power" and "all power to the people" led by Corey Goodridge, Murrell's cousin, echoed down the streets. The group — dressed in all black and carrying rifles and Pan-African flags — walked single file down the street, first toward the Indiana Convention Center and then to the circle, which is near the spot Murrell was shot and killed.
How is this this any different than white supremacists shouting "white power"?

"We want Tyler Newby convicted for the murder of Dorian Murrell," said Malik Shabazz, an attorney for the NBPP and their former national chairman. "We further want an end to racism and white supremacy in Indianapolis and Indiana."
Tyler Newby should not have been charged and he certainly should not be convicted. He acted in self defense
It is pretty rich that these black supremacists see "white supremacy" here even though Newby is being unfairly prosecuted.

"He's not here to speak for himself. And whatever Dorian did before (the alleged altercation) is not important," Armstrong said. "What's important is what happened to him from the minute he was killed."
That's bullshit! Of course it matters that Murrell and his good time buddies were robbing people and that they attacked Newby, surely in order to rob him too - or worse. He had a right to defend himself.

Bobby Seale, a founding member of the original Panthers, has publicly disavowed the NBPP as "a black racist hate group."
[...]
Shabazz believes that the NBPP is "not really different" than the original Panthers.
Actually, they are both correct here.

Witnesses disagree about the exact circumstances leading up to Murrell's death, but according to statements in court documents, Murrell and Newby did not have a physical altercation or even speak to each other before Newby shot him in the heart.
He was pushed to the ground by a robbery crew Murrell was a part of. What do they mean that they had no "physical altercation".

In front of the convention center, several speakers noted how atypical it was for someone who is charged with murder to get out on bond. They believe that if Murrell had been white or Newby Black, the outcome would have been different.
Of course things would be different. Had Newby been black he'd never have been charged. This is a political prosecution.

They both want the same thing.

License to kill with impunity.
Tom

Why are there so many poor uneducated black people concentrated into dangerous ghettos all over this nation?

I don't claim to know.

But my best guess is that poor uneducated black people tend to stick together, rather like every other demographic.

Might that be true? People tend to clump together with similar people?
Tom

Poor uneducated people are trapped. They have very little opportunity.

They are scarred too. From the stress of living in a violent ghetto.

The truth is that there is someone charged with Mr. Murrell's murder (https://fox59.com/news/man-charged-with-murder-claims-self-defense-covid-19-delays-bond-hearing/)
Court documents indicate when he rolled over, a man later identified as Murrell, was standing over him. Newby stated he thought Murrell was going to start punching him. He fired one fatal shot, killing Murrell. Witness statements claim Murrell did not have a weapon on him at the time.

Furthermore, Mr. Murrell was a suspect in two armed robberies in that night. Contrary to the OP rhetoric, that does not mean it is a fact that he participated in two robberies.

"White power" slogans are historically associated with the KKK and lynchings, while "black power" slogans are not associated with such longstanding (at the time) violence. But shouting them is pretty much the same.

White supremacists want not just white power but ... wait for it ... did you guess? ... White Supremacy.

Do the Panthers want Black Supremacy? (If not, OP should ask a Mod to change the thread title.)

I think it's not so much that black people want black supremacy - after all, we all harbor some tiny bit of desire for self-supremacy.
IMO it's more that some white people are terrified of having to confront the fact of their self-inferiority.

Black supremacy is not one of the Black Panther's ideologies Derec.

This OP is pretty incoherent. I'm guessing Derec is outraged about some black people, but I can't fathom who specifically or what they did.

Also, I think we're going to have to see some evidence of "supremacy", here, as others have noted.

From what I gather, someone shot someone else in a chaotic situation with poor information held by all actors.

When this happens and an actor is a cop, my experience with regards to Derec et al is they demonize the victim and claim "much chaos, scary black man, good shoot". Now it's "much chaos, scary situation, bad shoot". Sounds about white.

Black supremacy is not one of the Black Panther's ideologies Derec.
No sweat. If social media had been around several decades ago he'd be alerting us: Negroes plan march across Edmund Pettus Bridge!

Some things never change.

This whole argument is a case of whataboutism.

Yes, the New Black Panthers are bad guys. How many of them are there compared to groups like the Proud Boys etc?

I just read a newspaper account (https://fox59.com/news/man-charged-with-murder-claims-self-defense-covid-19-delays-bond-hearing/) and it says:

Witness statements claim a group of people approached Newby and his friend downtown that night. Some sort of an issue arose between them before Newby claims he was shoved from the back to the ground.

Court documents indicate when he rolled over, a man later identified as Murrell, was standing over him. Newby stated he thought Murrell was going to start punching him. He fired one fatal shot, killing Murrell. Witness statements claim Murrell did not have a weapon on him at the time.

Court documents state right after Murrell was shot, Newby found a nearby reserve deputy and told that person he just shot someone. He then handed his handgun to the deputy, and he and the friend he was with went downtown to give a statement. Then, Newby was arrested.

So, Newby gets pushed to the ground, rolls over and shoots a person standing over him. That person was unarmed. Newby had no idea of Murrell was the person who pushed him (which is not a lethal threat justifying shooting someone or else half of us should have been shot in middle school) or whether he was there to attack him or to offer him a hand up.

In Derec's America, you shoot first & are asked no questions later.
In Derec's America, a push means you forfeit your rights to breathing.
In Derec's America committing any crime in the past (even after serving your time) gives citizens the right to Immediately execute you.
In Derec's America, all you need to do is think you're in danger and you won't face charges for killing someone.
In Derec's America, no law serves to protect you (or Derec) in Derec's America.

All of the above just to stop, black supremacists, rioters, looters, and anyone else who doesn't love and appreciate America as you do. At the cost of everything, there is to love about America.

Small clarifications:

This whole argument is a case of whataboutism.

Whataboutism requires both examples to be even remotely equivalent. Comparing Black Supremacy and White Supremacy is bullshit with respect to frequency, harm caused and how much has been legitimised throughout history and society.

They are both vile, racist ideologies. I do not know why you leftists are always so keen on defending black supremacists ...

Not even close!
More like:

In Gospel and Toni's America, you can go around robbing people (killing one), if you are black.
In Gospel and Toni's America, you can't defend yourself against people robbing you, if you are white.

In Gospel and Toni's America, if a heavily armed group of extremists is marching, that's good and progressive, if they are black.
In Gospel and Toni's America, if a heavily armed group of extremists is marching, that's bad and fascistic, if they are white.
